The only way prices of foodstuffs will come down is if Dangote has serious competitors. The monopoly he enjoys is killing Nigerians
Is BUA and others not competing with him? More competitors are needed sha

He should go into massive farming instead of buying and selling.

Nigeria has enough landmass for commercial farming

I have a Question

You can Produce Salt by Just fetching Sea Water in a bucket

and evaporating it over a fire

Apart from Fishing that was the other full time job of the Ilaje and Awori for Centuries before the

British Arrived

So how come Dangote now has a monopoly over Salt that Awori and Ilaje People used to supply so
abundantly before British Colonialisation?

Islie:
The suspension “centred around the current non-operational status of Dangote Rice Limited” by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nascon Allied Industries said.

In December 2021, BUA Group – one of Dangote Industries’ biggest rivals in the cement and consumer goods sectors – consolidated its sugar, rice, flour, pasta and edible oils units into a single firm, later listing it on the NGX as BUA Foods.

Estimated at N720 billion at listing, BUA Foods’ is now worth N6.8 trillion in market value less than four years after.

If the three Dangote companies meet the conditions for approval and the transaction is completed, Dangote Sugar and Nascon Allied Industries will be delisted from the NGX.

Both companies, which at that point will have alternated with Dangote Rice, will be relisted on the stock exchange under a single name.

Cement and Petrol are not food ingredient, it is kind of odd that I have to state the obvious.

As for flour mills, Dangote is not a monopoly in the industry.
There are several heavyweights in there.

How did you think Dangote noodles went bankrupt?
By being a monopoly?

Glad it didn't go through.. I know it's stressful going through different accounting process for each sector but it is okay if they can stand on their own and performance metric observe individually instead of patching things up , although they would have strong financial muscle merged together and less top exec on the payroll but the cards can fall easily... I am expecting something Big from Dangote Rice ...

Cement won’t affect you because you are living in the forest grin for us living in building as the cost of building material like cement increases, rent increases, as rent increases the other business man that has to rent also increased the prices of his commodities.

Petrol go and check the price before Dangote announced and check what is it now then we would talk. Don’t tell you also want a lecture on how price of petrol afftect other commodities lol

Dangote noodles went under cause his effort to drive out other players and manipulate price failed. I have noticed Dangote’s businesses function sub-optimal, it is in Nigeria he is struggling to take advantage economics of scale. Cement price in Nigeria is one of the highest in Africa and it is not like these other countries are also not struggling with electricity issues, bad roads etc. it is simple cause he lack government’s influence to stiffle competition and dictate the price

The only thing many of you are good at is to criticise Dangote and blame him for everything that's wrong with Nigerian economy. Do you know how many individuals and companies that have obtained licences to build refineries in Nigeria many years ago before Dangote applied for permission? Now that he did it, na to give us the reasons why he's responsible for increase in price of petrol.
I thought his refinery just crashed down the price of diesel from N1800 to N1000? Na lie?
