A middle-aged woman identified as Victoria Idowu reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in the Magboro area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this to PUNCH Online in a WhatsApp conversation on Sunday.

According to Odutola, the son of the deceased raised the alarm after returning from a church service and finding his mother reportedly hanged with a rope from the ceiling fan in her room.

She added that upon receiving the report, police officers from the Ibafo Division visited the scene where the body of the deceased was found.

She further disclosed that when the room was searched, no suicide note was found.

Odutola stated, “According to the son, he came back from the church at about 1530 hours and discovered that his mother, one Mrs Idowu Victoria, ‘F’, aged 49 years of the same address, had committed suicide by hanging herself on the ceiling fan inside her room.

“The DPO immediately drafted men to the scene. No suicide note was found.”

The PPRO disclosed further that an investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.

She, however, urged members of the public to always provide support to their loved ones who may be suffering from mental health challenges.

“Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing to unravel the circumstances behind the sad incident. Suicide is unlawful.

“Sufferers of mental health need more support from family members to prevent such fatality,” she concluded.

PUNCH Online reported on February 6 that a 400-level female student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Adaze Jaja, reportedly committed suicide.

Odutola confirmed that the 31-year-old died in a hotel room.

Odutola said Jaja was reported to have been found lying unconscious and foaming at the mouth with an empty bottle of insecticide beside her.

All the elderly people living there are afraid to the extent they are now committing suicide?

Because the youths are either slapping them in traffic
Killing them over palm oil
Beheading them after drinking sachet alcohol
The sons are beating up their mother's over inheritance
Or their children are abroad being imprisoned for cyber crime.

The other day I saw where a son beheaded his father over land.
OMG.
Or is it the women abandoning their babies in gutters?

The land needs healing ...

This doesn’t look like a suicide case. No note was found, no single evidence that it was a deliberate suicide

In this case, the police should kindly arrest the husband and the sons of this woman for proper investigation.

Honestly, if you don’t catch a Nigerian man red handed committing a barbaric crime, they will frame it and get away with the crime. Nigerian men can never be trusted
