This is why I don't accept electronic transaction from youngsters. You must have to withdraw through the nearby POS. We always make sure the POS operators don't run out of cash so that you wouldn't have an excuse.

How has this senseless comment helped in any way apart from praising and encouraging the Thieves for their “smartness” while mocking the victim for allowing his kindness and humanity to cost him 22k. ?!

I cringe in disgust when I see foolish/stupid comments like that “Mugu go fall, guy man chop” on this platform. Has our society really gotten to this low were thieves and criminals are congratulated and exalted for outsmarting and robbing their fellow Nigerians?!?

The Op created this thread to seek help in recovering his funds while also alerting the public as to the new methods these thieves devise by going as a couple and using a crying baby as a means of escape, yet you deemed it the right time and moment to display your foolishness by coming in to call the fraudster “wise”. Probably your parents I’m sure😒
From the abundance of your heart, I’m guessing scam is what you also do and you think it’s wise abi?!

This year, your mother will go into debt to bury you. She will sell her last wrapper to bury you.
Every good thing will avoid your family
Your family will work like elephants and eat like ants
Your prayers will be repulsive to God
Your voice will be repulsive to your helpers
You will be smelling before your helpers
You will cry to God in your hour of need and he won't answer
Accident and Untimely death will never depart from your family.
You will have incurable wound, you won't die and the sore will not heal.

I read the part you said, you refunded your wife stolen money.

Money you didn't steal, but you beared the loss, for your wife.

And i asked myself, Can a woman even do this. For her man. angry

The sacrifices men make in this life, honestly Most women currently in marriage, don't deserve it.

A d.
You're very stupid. Very very stupid indeed. So you didn't read the part where he said he told his wife to allow them go because he took pity on the couple cos of their "child?". How come you skipped this part, cos you want to be biased?

You sounded like a thief . You are shameless and foolish to type this trash . So it is wrong for the op to have a kind heart to allow them go when they have a baby who is crying? You are the thing we Yorubas call Oloriburuku Alayebaje Eyan ofo
It's wrong for the Op to let them go. I don't pity the Op one bit cos he was very foolish. Very, very foolish indeed. You don't employ kindness in this type of situation. He should have confirmed the alert before letting go. Business is business, no emotions. Please let's learn not to confuse stupidity with kindness

it is your family lineage that is stupid. That's exactly why you are this bitter and single.. is it my fault undecided

How do you expect to keep a man with a widened pussy. undecided boys have banged the living hell out of undecided

You are sounding like the wife had any alternative to retrieve the lost funds, the money is gone shikina. And it's always the men that keep taking the loss on irrelevant things all in the name of marriage

You are just one bitter soul, probably still single. Don't let the trauma you are going through choke life out of you.

Have sense, so a man, can feel attracted to you

Really I was not wise, I'm really disappointed with you and your utterances. You Sounded like one of them.... Everyday for the thief.............
That's the fact. You interfere in something you didn't know better. Your wife was wise but you chose to lord over her business. Everyday you leave your house, mind your own business. You're owing nobody so take a very calm but firm NO as your go-to reply to everyone trying to get your sympathy on the road. Their network is not working, their baby is alone, their transport fare is finished, IT IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM.
Be glad they weren't kidnappers or those that mesmerize people into bringing all your cash for them.

*Network no dey hold app unless you data no dey go. As long as signal and data on your device is running normal, you'll see the transfer instantly the person does it. Oga, na you swindle your wife.
*USSD transfer dey see all banks including Moniepoint and Opay. You just have to type the first 3letters of the name in search bank option.
*Fake transfer people avoid payment services because they don't have it.
*If someone refuses it, that's a flag. Other banks are easy to code fake alert messages.
Allow your wife to run her business. She knows it best. It's not your office. Just sit one corner and be quiet.

I used to hear of scam through fake alert I have never experienced it before until three days ago when this young looking couple came to my wife's shop to buy things. I usually go to pick my wife from shop when I close from my own business. On that fateful day around 8.pm her Gen went off as fuel got exhausted and so is the CCTV camera so their faces were not captured she was actually balancing her account and arranging to close for the day whey they came appearing all friendly and chatty and they picked some items everything amounted to 12k and they requested for Cash of 10k totaling 22k. They requested for account no and my wife called out her monie point account and the lady said she can't find monie point and requested for another bank account and my wife called out her GTB account she called the account name and said it was successful and flash the screen to my wife's face. My wife said they will have to wait for confirmation she logged in through her app and couldn't see anything. Meanwhile the guy was coughing seriously and the lady started complaining that her baby is crying in the car and ask to drop her phone no. After some time
I asked my wife to let them go out of my good heart and concern for the baby in the car that it could be network problem that is causing the delay after getting their contact. We got home I asked my wife to check she said nothing is in her account my wife decided to Dial that number surprising her Truecaller app brought out her name as 'Onye ohi Rice' meaning Rice thief that was when it dawn on us that we have been scammed. Since that day we have tried plenty times to call and chat the num on Whatsapp but no response. This is the number 08105384984 registered as Ifeanyi Nwakaibeya. I have refunded my wife the money though but I'm really sad that such young people go about stealing from people. Nairalanders I know it's a small change but I wish I can get this guy and lady and deal with them.
The fact that they said they didn't see moniepoint is an absolute lie (if they used a mobile app). They avoided that because they know alert will drop almost instantly but for GTB, not so much. It was at this point they flashed - most likely- a pre-saved screen of a successful transfer. I can guarantee the said successful trf didnt show the amount. It will not be well with those thieves.

fraudsters have spoilt business relationships. There was a time I went to lagos and bought suits of N60,000. I transferred the money, but the business didn't see it and I was in a hurry to go to the airport, they asked me to give them my mobile number. And their own was on the receipt. When I got to abuja, I called them and they said they had received it.
Just for the trust they had in me, next time I went to lagos, I went and patronised them again. And they were grateful

So what strategy should one really apply to overcome dis? Some people were saying dat traders should be using online banks(opay, kuda, fairmoney etc). Will dis be effective?

Excellent write-up. I appreciate.

But that means my data will be put on whenever i want to recieve money alert in my mail?
toujurs:
Call customer service, to activate E mail notification only, and de activate sms notifications.

Obviously the scammer, doesn't have your email address only the bank, and you would be aware it's only mail you receive notifications.

So when he sends, a fake sms notification, you would know it's fake already. Pin him there, by telling him you need to verify, and call the police immediately or draw the attention of your neighbors, by the time 3 slaps land on his face, you will see him confessing immediately.

Ensure you don't pity, the criminal, that would be your worst mistake, allow the law take action.

These scammers never learn till they face the full wrath of the law.

This is why I recommend every business to have a POS. If a client requests to transfer money to your bank account, always warn them that they won't leave your shop with your goods until you confirm the money in your account, no matter their would be excuses.

Don't trust any confirmation of payment your client shows you, it could be a fake. There's no better confirmation than actually seeing the money in your bank account. This is why bank app is very vital.

how are u sure the ifeanyi u are insulting was the fraudster? What's the proof from the write up? When the woan dropped the phone number, did the call it in her presence and ensure it was their real phone number?
The situation was horrible, the fraudsters might or might not be igbos, no need attaching tribal sentiments to it.
"........chat the num on Whatsapp but no response. This is the number 08105384984 registered as Ifeanyi Nwakaibey"

My submission is based on the above information. I am not after tribal sentiments because I am also a core igbo man with igbo first name and igbo surname. I am after the fraud perpetuated by the owner of phone number 08105384984.

When someone commits a crime, we should condemn the crime and bother less about whether the person that commits the crime is igbo or hausa or Yoruba. We are all Nigerians.

what I'm saying is that since the woman had intention of committing crime, she might have given them someone else number. They possibly couldn't have given their real numbers since they were there to commit fraud.
