I may not have supported Obi about his utterances or act before, he is 💯 correct on this. Why embark on a project that would be more than 4 or 5 years period.
It's a foolish project with huge wasting of resources.
This is most senseless contribution so far. Important projects often took more than 5 years everywhere in the world.

While I agree with Obi on this topic, note; I'm not a fan of Obi, but I really don't know how that highway is more important than the power sector.

Still this statement you made is just double standards.

I categorically put it to you, every politician that holds a public office is corrupt, they all steal. You would probably steal also if you were there. Obi also stole, so if Obi is a thief and Tinubu is a thief, why the double standards?

Secondly, you said we should look at the economy in the last 15 years, the PDP economy was a padded economy. The most expensive projects and budgets were done during the APC era, whilst the most expensive embezzlement and corruption was done during the PDP era. Kindly do your research before replying me please, because I usually appreciate intellectual statements grounded in fact rather than fiction. I will give an example; Emefiele, is being tried for embezzlement to the tune of approximately $5billion, the highest an official from the APC led government has ever been prosecuted for, whilst Sanusi laimdo during the Jonathan era, cried out that 20 billion dollars was missing from the crude oil account, guess what? Jonathan removed Sanusi from office for spilling the beans. Again kindly do your research well before replying. Thank you.

Thanks man.

Been long I saw a great lines and submission as yours. Devoid of insult and name calling.

But, are you actually insinuating that finance mangement in APC led administration is better than PDP?.

Yeah, about embezzlement....I agree that PDP are pro.

But you see in using unnecessary propaganda to draw down a local economy which on the long run will affect the economy of the State...give to APC

Talk about self induced insecurity?
Talk about igniting chaos between tribes and riding on their intelligency to gain a purpose?

I can't recommend APC for any nation

Lagos Calabar Highway Project is a PPP requiring only FG commitment of 15%. Can you get a company that is is ready for a PPP of Sagamu, Ore to Onitsha road or Sagamu to Benin Road, FG is ready to pay the 15%.

You should ask OBI who was an economic adviser to Jonathan to name one Road Project executed by Jonathan in South West? 2. He should name one Interstate road that began from Lagos or any South West State when Jonathan was in power. OBI is a trader. This is a P P P road. FG only needs to meet 15% of the fund. Atlantic City, Lekki Deep Seaport and Dangote Refineries are the only bitterness he can see.
I pity him.

You people have forgotten that when OBI was the Economic Adviser to Jonathan the road from Lagos to Ore was worse than Ore to Onitsha and Ore to East West Road to Portharcourt. The time you spend from Ore to Lagos was almost thrice the time spent from Asaba to Ore. Why didn't he start from Sagamu

You sound like one of the online supporters paid 25k per month to defend the government. I don't blame you sha. Country is hard and man must wack. Here is an article on the inadequacies of the project written by Dele Sobowale (NOT OBI ooo). Maybe you'll now read to understand and not just to criticize Obi.

Tell me, what's the value of spending billions of dollars on a road while there are other more important things your useless country should focus on?
There are already roads linking Lagos to Calabar so what's the use of this so-called coastal road?

Your country is currently generating less than 3000MW of electricity for a country of more than 200million people. Some university campuses abroad generate up to 1000MW for use only within the campus and the hostels. Instead of your useless leaders to use this funds to fix the power sector they're using it to build a road, and brain-dead fellows like you cheer them on

Thank you for your generous compliments, I am quite honoured.

Let me simplify this for you, permit me to use numbers here; Nigeria dethroned South Africa as Africa's biggest economy since 2013, during GEJ's era and as been at the summit since 2013 till now. IMF projections lately shows that before 2025, Nigeria's economy would be 4th in Africa due to the devaluation of our currency.
Now to put it in perspective, South Africa's 2024 budget is totalled at a $100bn+, whilst the biggest budget ever proposed in Nigeria is Tinubu's 2024 budget at 25bn dollars. In which 9bn dollars would be borrowed. So we can't even effectively fund our budget. Note; no budget since 1999 has been entirely funded by our revenue. They'd always have to borrow, infact the borrowing was so deep that some our debt was forgiven by the Paris fund of 2005. Our biggest annual internally generated revenue was in 2023 at NGN12trn. Whist our budget in naira this year is 28trn. You see how whack our economy truly is? Numbers don't lie

South Africa's internally generated revenue is $80bn.
We are one of the least taxed countries in Africa, it is not magic our revenue doesn't correlate with the state of our economy. Ergo, a padded economy. If we are the biggest economy we ought to have the biggest financial power!

Egypt's defence budget last year was $6bn, Algeria was $5bn, Morroco $5bn, South Africa was $11bn. Nigeria was just a measly $3bn and yet we complain about insecurity, we have more security personnel than these countries but they spend more on security than we do. All we know how to do is lament and complain, not research. A truly patriotic citizen would take his or her time to digest the intricacies of the state of our economy.

How do I convince Peter Obi and his mediocre crew again. Tinubu came as governor in 1999 and grow Lagos IGR from 500m to 6B before he left, today Lagos IGR is around 50b. The record is there, why is the money coming from? It's also on record that Peter Obi did not grow Anambra IGR by 20% in 8years due to his mediocre mind.

Peter Obi is right. The so called coastal highway from Lagos- Calabar is a huge project such as which Nigeria has no history of completing. That is why they started constructing from Lagos axis, just to ensure that Lagos is completed before the 8years or 4 years tenure elapses. We know about East-West Road that had taken ages, yet not completed.
It is important for Federal government to put in place a plan for adequate funding of all uncompleted Federal Road project littered across the country before embarking on another monumental projects.

I read news paper about the IBB aka third mainland bridge in Lagos in fact the white man from BBC says the project was a mirage that's it was not possible for Nigeria Govt to construct n now it was a story of the past
