Peter Obi is right. The so called coastal highway from Lagos- Calabar is a huge project such as which Nigeria has no history of completing. That is why they started constructing from Lagos axis, just to ensure that Lagos is completed before the 8years or 4 years tenure elapses. We know about East-West Road that had taken ages, yet not completed.
It is important for Federal government to put in place a plan for adequate funding of all uncompleted Federal Road project littered across the country before embarking on another monumental projects.

People like you would have advised IBB against the construction of the third mainland bridge due to several bodies of water.

You may not like Obi but the so called super highway is a complete waste of money. It is all eye service to please BAT. That's why it started in Lagos and will probably end in Lagos.

Making the Lagos > Shagamu > Ore > Benin > Asaba > Onitsha > Owerri > Aba > PH expressway a 12 lane super highway would have made far more economic sense.

Trust me, the president's media team will ignore him as usual. Only an idiot will say a road infrastructure that'd pass through 8 states with the inclusion of train track is not a priority. Pls, someone should inform him that "the presidential borehole" he dug in Zaira has stopped working within two weeks, that should be his priority.

Seriously are you this shallow in thinking. Coming up with a huge project of this magnitude when people are suffering and the economy is shrinking. There are ports along that route what happened to expanding these ports and making them viable? The media team will definitely answer because the attacks on the project are one too many. Nigerians cannot be fooled

That's what makes Tinubu and David Umahi preferred above Peter Obi. They know how to achieve bigger things, not a mediocre.

Oga be realistic and stop being stupid. Niger delta terrain is very challenging, it is not about who, but the sense behind the project which is null.

Inasmuch as I don't completely disagree with him I'd like to also ask him what he said when Buhari/Ameachi began the Nigeria/Niger Republic railway line project, between the two projects which one does he think will benefit Nigeria and Nigerians more?

Simple google and you will see what he said

I also believe roads use regularly by people going to work or for moving goods should be giving priority, except of course the government can enlighten us why the Lagos Calabar road is a priority. If it will reduce travel time and improve tourism all well and good.

The road is a waste of money given that there is already an existing road to calabar that is in disrepair. Also this new road is excluded from main towns and villages. Now imagine they are kidnapping people on the existing road. What will happen on a lonely road

He was saving the state money in his bank, Fidelity Bank to increase the bank's depositors funds instead of constructing like 3 flyovers on ever busy Awka Enugu road. Imagine the cost of doing that now when things have gone up. Is the value the same today?

I am invited here once again.

OBASANJO is alive today to witness everything. Who is OBI? To me OBI is nobody if not for Nigeria situation. He is a nobody. Obasanjo, Baba Ayo Adebanjo and Doyin Okupe gave him a platform. Colonel Victor Banjo - a Yoruba planned Biafra war strategy, led Biafra to War. Eventually when he realized things cannot work, he opted for alternative options. They said he planned coup against Ojukwu, he was executed .

OBI in addition to being the Anambra State Governor was also an Economic Adviser to Jonathan when Jonathan was in power. In addition to estimated $60 billion dollars Obasanjo left, oil jumped up to $130/ barrel and production was about 2.2 millions barrel per day and above. They looted everything. The greatest robbery and looting in the history of Africa. They did not save one Kobo. They spent almost almost 30 billions out of the money Obasanjo left and borrowed heavily. They empowered their kinsmen in businesses from automobile, aviation, etc. They threatened Buhari not to probe the government. Jonathan in a nationwide television network address to nation before handing over to Buhari said nobody should probe him, they should start the probe from 1960. He agreed a lot happened but that was how it has been since independence in his word. NTA can help us to play that address. South South never benefitted from Jonathan government. They hijacked his government.

On Social Media, particularly Facebook, ever since this project was awarded, a lot of International Civil Engineering Companies have been advertising their highway projects. Chinese Civil Engineering Companies have been advertising their highway projects. They are targeting Africa countries. There have been competition among Africa countries displaying highways and road networks in their countries and later buildings. This began massively after this project was awarded. Most countries in Africa are aware of this project because of Social media.

When they listed best Airports in Africa, highest scheduled flights in Africa, and others Nigeria was missing. When they listed dirty cities in Africa, most populous city in Africa, you will find Lagos. Somebody told them the plight of Lagos in Nigeria. He said Nigeria is a country at War with itself especially at war with Lagos. He drew attention of other Africa countries to the opposition to the Lagos Calabar Highway Project. Many people from other countries now know better. When SA displays Jo'burg, Capetown and Durban , you have new city development in Egypt and other developed cities in Africa it is to showcase the beauty of their countries. Nigeria on the other side is for psychological warfare against Lagos. On Facebook, they should please stop displaying Lagos city development. They should allow other cities showcase theirs. Nigeria comprises of many countries at war psychologically with one another and with Lagos. Africa countries have now started to understand why Lagos is the way it is , chaotic and unorganized. They came to Lagos with nothing and are made, yet they don't want wish the land good things. The land will eventually swallow them.

You should ask OBI who was an economic adviser to Jonathan to name one Road Project executed by Jonathan in South West? 2. He should name one Interstate road that began from Lagos or any South West State when Jonathan was in power. OBI is a trader. This is a P P P road. FG only needs to meet 15% of the fund. Atlantic City, Lekki Deep Seaport and Dangote Refineries are the only bitterness he can see.
I pity him.

You people have forgotten that when OBI was the Economic Adviser to Jonathan the road from Lagos to Ore was worse than Ore to Onitsha and Ore to East West Road to Portharcourt. The time you spend from Ore to Lagos was almost thrice the time spent from Asaba to Ore. Why didn't he start from Sagamu

Glitcher:

There is nothing wrong with building that road, the coastline of the Niger Delta region does not have any road connecting it to the hinterland even though they are the ones generating the funds to build roads elsewhere. this road should be encouraged not critisized. we should only focus on ensuring they complete it by putting pressure on them starting the construction from both ends. fucking greedy and selfish nigerians.

Niger deltans are foolish if not these are the kinds of projects they should be fighting for.

Funny enough all the guys that are supporting Atiku to frustrate the project are SS/SE Obidients, including Obi himself. If this project was another Kano to Niger Republic again we won't hear anything from the Northerners.

Re: ‘Misplaced Priority’ – Obi Questions Lagos-calabar Super Highway Project by Nchenches: 2:56pm On Apr 22
First reality is that the highway has antipathy to the SE as foundation; if not, no saner person would go to build on marshy water terrain that cannot be easy to build and maintain, but avoid a more profitable Lagos-Benin-Onitsha-Portharcourt-Calabar superhighway on solid land terrain.
Second reality is that embezzlement of public funds is encoded in the project.
Third reality is that the highway passes through fewer population centres, it's merely aimed at exploitation in taking the oil and gas resources in the Niger delta region to Lagos.

the project will just stop at ondo state, the cost to build bridges over those bodies of water will cripple the project, that is why they started in Lagos,he is just using federal might to develop his remote properties
