Good news. Just like we have been targeting since Obasanjo administration.
The money for that shall be shared by the same people setting up the target.

A country of of over 350m people is only targeting 6,000 MW

These people are confused
.

They don't want to tell themselves the truth that Nigeria had since before now failed as a country. The huge size, geographical locations and diverse religions, of the three largest groups in Nigeria made the country fail.

It's not about generating 6,000MW,it's about distributing more from the disco to the end users,,,because what is the essence if the disco can only distribute 50% of the generated Energy. And also getting every users metered at least paying the what's been used not vice versa

What is the essence if there are no infrastructure for distribution of the 6,000 MW generated?

5 ways of bedding and dating any lady of your choice... I am a retired legend in this area:

1. Be well dressed:
whether you want to dress casually, cooperate or roughly, always do it well. Here there are no rules, the only rule is to do it well.
Even if you don't have money, with this she will be spending on you.

2. Own a car:
Ladies hate discomfort. A car helps you to talk less and pay less. It is very handy in this business.

3. Furnished your bedroom:
whether it is one bedroom apartment, It doesn't matter. Your bedroom is the alter where all the reggae and blues go happen. Even if you forget to furnished your parlor, never forget to furnished your bedroom.

4. Installed Air conditioner(AC) in your bedroom and subscribe your Gotv/Dstv especially for zeeworld and also have a generator to power the AC.
You will realized that you need it.

5. Always take your bath and look clean.
Ladies always love fresh guys

Do these 5 things and thank me later

They can do that because both countries allow their power sector set the prices that the power sector wants. Egypt had a subsidy in place, but it was removed several years ago.

Also, SA has a diversie generation portfolio...not just gas, they have nuclear and hydro. Even then, SA Is having blackouts right now.

Nigeria's problem (And I am not here to excuse APC, attack PDP or whatever, thank you ) boils down to the fact that the government sets prices for the power sector, meaning they cannot make sufficent profits to fix things. Then the power sector is owed billions by government (some 1.3 trillion naira ), and the general public (greater than that)...simply because people do not pay their bills, and excuse it. Including your government too. And when the government sets a bad example, the people follow.

Add the fact that since the late 1970's, the government has been expanding power supply to everywhere in Nigeria...with the result that the grid got overloaded (until 2019, there had been no new investment in the grid since the 1970's)...and damaged. Part of why we have blackouts ad grid collapses.

At the end, decades of making power cheaper for the people, means the sector cannot fund or fix itself or raise enough money to do so. People not paying their bills makes it worse. The gas companies refuse to supply gas to discos because of nearly 2 tr in debts.

But anytime people point out the lack of a cost reflective tarrif, NIgerians abuse and shout at them. Well, all I will say is, you won't run your business well if government set your prices.

Ivory Coast used to have similar problems as we did, until 1993, when they privatised power, and allowed a cost reflective tarrif to be charged. And here they are.

Nothing to do with Nigeria failing as a nation, and everything to do with lack of a cost reflective tarrif, and people not paying their bills.

And if we split the country, the same issues are going to remain. We gotta change our mindset.

Does cost reflective?? tarrif emerge from the moon?
What makes people refuse to pay their bills. Do people in functional countries refuse to pay their bills?
Split the country into more manageable countries and see all these bottlenecks on present Nigeria DISAPPEAR from the emergent new countries.

Nigeria as presently structured and governed never gonna survive. Take this to the World Bank.

It isn't because Nigeria is a dysfuncional country that people are not paying their power bills. We pay our phone bills easily, we also pay a host of other bills, but when it comes to power, we have the idea that it should be free of charge or cheap.

That is why we can restructure or separate Nigeria, and power will still be a problem.

AM sure you think SA is a 'decent country' , yet they too have blackouts partly because of mismanagement, and partly because people are not paying their bills to eskom.

At the end, we have to accept power is not cheap. Otherwise we are going to keep having issues.

The power sectors cash is provided largely by the private sector and not the government.

The road will cost 2,8tr and not 15tr.The road will be tolled, so will recoup its cost

The problem I have with your comments is that you always leave out crucial details. You write a lot of facts but then you purposely omit important details.

Yesterday, you wrote a comment about the Dutch disease (aka resource curse). You failed to mention that the solution is to set up an excess crude account( sovereign wealth fund), and manage it properly. You failed to state that it was Nigeria’s mismanagement of its excess crude account that led to all the economic issues.

Today, you are commenting on electricity and gas prices, yet you have left out two important points.

First of all, gas prices have only risen because of the fall in the value of the Naira. That is, gas prices have risen because of the Nigerian government’s incompetence in managing our excess crude account.

Secondly, Nigeria is a gas giant. The Nigerian people own the gas resources which is managed on their behalf by the government.

Story time.
Imagine Germany was a gas giant but the German government failed to manage its currency leading to Germans not being able to afford to pay for gas at the international price. Do you think Germany would export its gas to neighboring countries while leaving its masses in darkness?

Nigeria has also had years of subsides and price controls, even on gas. That hinders investment in gas production and development, so we are not producing as much as we should.

Hence the flaring. If there were no price controls, all that gas won't be flared. It would be profitable.

Plus, we need to pay cost reflective tarrifs. The experts thinks so. It's harsh, but that's the way it is.

FG targets a paltry 6000MW by December. How appalling.
It appears that generating stable power supply for a country as old as Nigeria is rocket science!
We should be having discussions on how to generate at least 1000 GW.

So, we stop complaining about the power issue. And if we split the country, the poverty problem will remain....because it is going to take ages before we see any prosperity in any new country.

Poverty by the way did not stop us from paying bills for phones, even when they were intially expensive and the service was bad.

The truth is, poverty or no poverty, if we want 24 hour light, we got to pay the power companies at the price they set, and stop stealing power. Maybe investment would make it cheaper eventually, maybe not. But this one where all our governments have been doing cheap power to help the poor, at the end, the country would be suffering poor power.

Nigeria is on the right path, a path that will bring out the beast the leaders has been creating over the years by their selfish behaviour, high level of corruption.
I see the masses rising up and taken power from the few demons who has been holding onto power just to loot the nation treasury and plunder the majority population into scorching pains and agony

It will be bloody, the whole world will stand still as all eyes will be on what is happening in Nigeria.

Blood of politicians and their family members will flood the streets.

This will happen unplanned just like end-SAS.. just a little trigger that will propel the movement.

Nigerian politicians and top government officials should take note and start returning all the country's resources they have stolen and let massive development start or they will pay with their blood and the blood of their relatives .
