Okay here is the story.

One of my best friends who is expected to get married this year just called me for hours with regards to his plans.

He met this babe 2 years ago and things were going fine. I even know the girl as a nice lady and very homely. I don chop her food, she cooks well. Both of them attend RCCG church. My friend is a casual member while his fiance is a serious member and doesn't miss weekly services.

So my friend to take his relationship more seriously decided to visit his fiancé's family so they know him. Before then, the fiancé had told him that her father is a former Baptist but has stopped being religious and sometimes does traditional practices. On the day of him visiting her home, he was welcomed even bought gifts for the dad and mum. But he said his spirit was very uncomfortable in that house.

There was an standing portrait of the father on white with beads and regalia to show he is Ogboni. Also in the house, there were a few funny looking art works which looks occult. My friend played cool, the father even asked of his church and he told him. The father proudly said he is a traditional man. After the meeting, the next day he asked his girlfriend if her father is an ROF member and she said yes that she told him before that he is a traditional man.

But my friend is showing signs of doubts. He told me he loves the girl, but that he wants nothing to do with anything occultic in this life till he dies. His family may not agree but even if he insist to have his way because of love, he wants to be sure it will not end in regret.

I told him what really matters is the heart of the person he is marrying. My guy said yes but family background matters. Foundation matters, which is true.

House, what do you think?
My maternal grandparents were members of Ogboni. It means nothing when we were growing up. The father's beliefs and practices isn't a thing of concern to you but you should be prayerful as a husband and father that you will be very soon.

Just say you're an ogboni member, and leave Pastors out of it.

If him no marry her, another guy will.
He is not marrying the man but his daughter who is even more committed to Christianity than your friend.

What do you mean by family background mattes? You do you know the gods your father's father father served?

Anyway na una cup of tea.

Hmmm…you can marry a bad girl from a good family but do marry a girl from the mentioned family. Fine, you might be the one to change the baba mentality and to be born again once again but, what if it goes a wrong way. Marriage is a life contract. It would be very difficult for your guy to quit later. Candid advice ✌️

Is she Occult too? If not marry her. My close friend and a colleague is married to a daughter of an Ogboni man. Late now though. The daughter and the husband controlled the narrative because they are true Christians.

Family background and foundation matters o. Your guy is very smart for asking such questions. But all I can say is for him to seek God through prayer or his pastor if it's the will of God.

Thank you.

Thank God ur father inlaw is very open and that is very good unlike hundreds of Serious Christians who will hide dere identity and u will think dey @ real Christians. Is d lady that matter and tell her abt ur concern to know hw she feel abt it plus u might hear and know more. To me it does not matter bt u hv d final say . If anyone tell you marrying from Christian home wud give u peace of mind in marriage den dey wine u ni. Marriage na school u no fit graduate no certificate but u can always score good marks if u hv God and hv extra ordinary patience to run the race .

Hmmmm. I think he should Marry the girl if she gives him all he desires. You see in marriage, sooner or later you will always encounter something hard to deal with. Thank God he has identified his own from the start. So let the Battle begin.

Not enough to quit because your prospective father in law seems fetish. You might just be the catalyst he needs to accept Christ and find his way back to God, except you're oblivious of the power of God you serve or never been a serious Christian.
Re: Her Father Is Occult. Should He Still Go Ahead? by Charly68: 4:36pm On May 07, 2024
Your friend should know that his fiance is coming from a background with a terrible covenant ..His father inlaw may be forced to use her as his replacement when he is about to go. .This is always the area with tough battle. They look harmless in the physical but spiritually are strong and stubborn .. the man should sit.down first to count the cost before jumping into marriage covenant .. Marriage is not a child's play ,it is a matter of till death do us part
