Awo's so-called "threat" couldn't have stopped the war as it was made in August 1st, 1966 and to his constituency- western region, whilst the war started in July 1967.

Moreover, what you now referred to as "threat" , your igbo brothers dubbed it, "a gentleman's agreement " between Ojukwu and Awo to which the latter allegedly reneged on and thereafter you lot have been calling Awo, a betrayer and conveniently extend it to his tribesmen, too.

Not only that, he also could have invoked Aburi accord. Instead he became active participant in the war!

Awo never wanted the war, it was forced on him by the two protagonists and as such he chose which side is more in the interest of his people.

Nonsense. Awo was simply an opportunist like most Nigerians. He couldn't resist stupendous oil money that was starting to pour in. He became finance minister to l nobody and of course mysteriously became stupendous wealthy (we can guess how). But unlike Tinubu he couldn't use it to buy presidency!

Don't blame him too much. He grew up in the North and spoke Hausa better than Igbo, lived in the West and spoke Yoruba fluently. Igbos claimed him but he was Nigerian in his mind. So what would he be if there was no Nigeria

Igbo. Zik was born by Igbo parents before the Amalgamation so he was Igbo.

Zik became the president of ISU- Igbo state union- a purely tribal organisation, in 1948. At the one year anniversary of ISU in 1949, Zik made a speech prophesying how ONLY his Igbo people can save Africa from the chains of bondage.

Note, he did not say "Nigerians" rather Igbo "cause deep down inspite of all the platitudes about his language skills, he is still an Igbo man from Onitsha.

After his studies in US Zik never neared nor touted Igbo land except when speaking to them, after THEY chose him
