Please note that being NATO member is not necessarily being a vassal for the West eg Spain and Hungary.


Simple.
In the case of two devils options, you choose to go with a lesser devil, the one you're most comfortable with. Same reason why I'm unashamedly pro-West despite the shortcomings of the West.
