How will the change of National Anthem help the country?

Just diverting people's attention
Just sing it and watch how the price of petrol, diesel and gas crash.

Infact, insecurity will cease to exist once we start singing it in public

Looking at the current situation of the country this would be preferable but we don't have anyone ready to serve our fatherland. Both national anthem are not working for us,this is like hymn of prayer same as the second stanza in the current one.

If our leaders, every of our citizens are ready to serve this nation truthfully, keeping to its rules and regulations without allowing corruption to thrive then both seems fit

Good call.

The current anthem that says.
"arise oh compatriot".

No compatriot dey naija, everybody dey find personal benefit.
The new one says 'in brotherhood we stand', but there still exists tribalism and Nigerians killing and kidnapping fellow Nigerians. Is that brotherhood?

You know hear the part that says "to hand own to our children. . ." That's what motivates them to recall it. They want a constitutional rights to keep their children after them in the political sphere

How does this affect our standard of living. Patriotism is in our character and actions. And not in our verbal commitments.

May God heal our country and make it great again.

Of all the problem in the land our focus is on changing the national anthem... like the leaders didn't see the inflation and rising of dollar.
Re: Lyrics Of Old National Anthem, 'Nigeria We Hail Thee' by Meti99(m): 9:03pm On May 23, 2024
Nigeria we hate thee..

Is it because of the current Anthem that the government cannot fix Nigeria's economy, security, infrastructures, employments?

That common table that bring all these thieves together will soon break by fire in Jesus name

We have since changed from Motherland to Fatherland and the world is now more gender inclusive.

Sincerely, some words used there are obsolete and unashamedly patriarchal in a supposed motherland.
I prefer the existing national anthem.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

Who has the time for this? I prefer the current one. Nothing more patriotic than it. Of course, these unpatriotic lots couldn't understand that.

These people are truly representing themselves. Is this the problem of Nigeria? And when did they consult their constituents and were told that of all the problems we have, this is a top priority?

They want to start confusing children in school and the general population. Occupying themselves with rubbish.

Incompetent bunch.

Whobedatte:
The current one sounds more classical and melodious
I thought i was the only one that observed that. The current one is far better. Each word and, phrase and sentence in it is rich. This one no sweet at all.

But these people are daft. Why would changing national anthem be their priority among many subjects of national interest that constantly begs attention.
Re: Lyrics Of Old National Anthem, 'Nigeria We Hail Thee' by criuze(m): 9:18pm On May 23, 2024
This looked simple and reflective

The issue is that political wickedness has eroded the national sympathy it would have commanded

This current one is composed by pirates and mafias, and it's serving them rightly
Re: Lyrics Of Old National Anthem, 'Nigeria We Hail Thee' by Gboom: 9:30pm On May 23, 2024

This is the least of our national problem.

The wicked and excessively selfish leaders needs to go and not the national anthem.

jeromestarks:
Nigeria’s old National Anthem

Nigeria we hail thee
Our own dear native land
Though tribes and tongue may differ
In brotherhood we stand
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign
In peace or battle honour'd,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.

O God of all creation
Grant this our one request.
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

The House of Representatives passed a bill seeking to return us to reciting the old national anthem.

I like the part that says "In brotherhood we stand"

In my opinion, the last sentence "Nigeria may be blessed." "Nigeria is blessed"
There's no different from the one we are using presently. "And justice rein" not "shall rein"
English tutor in the house is my observation correct with the use of "maybe" and "is"?
