The leadership incompetence of Ndigbo started from Nnamdi Azikiwe and continued here. Both Zik and Ironsi were poor leaders who never knew how to lead. If they had gotten their acts right, we wouldn't be where we are today as Igbos.
This is why we must support Nnamdi Kanu for our freedom.

The world as we know it is coming to an end, we must move into the new age as freed people.

Ironsi already strip the regions of it power.

Gowon subsequently divided what was left of it.

Oga stop being half clever. The regions in name were called group of provinces which is the actual definition of regions and the unitary decree stated that the group of provinces will be under a provincial administrator. Oga we had this same topic years ago you kept on hammering on this even with proof that Ironsi didn't in the actual sense abolish regions. Guy don't you have deductive reasoning at all. Gowon carved up all the regions into states while Ironsi kept the structure intact, yet you keep saying Ironsi abolished regions. That was the same thing you did the previous time by lying that Ademoyega was deceived into the coup plot whereas the plot was conceived by both Ifeajuna and Ademoyega. Even Ademoyega admitted in his book.
You are an idiot. You mean you can't simply explain what Ironsi meant by the expression 'former regions'?
You mean Philip Asiodu lied against Ojukwu when he said Ojukwu told him that he and Ironsi would abolish the regions in six months? You are seeing hards fact but hiding under deductive reasoning story. Very dishonest lots.
If Ironsi we're of any other tribe you would have agreed he destroyed the regions.

Kano just reversed a 3 year policy that detroned Sanusi, why did your leaders not reverse a 2 months policy since 1966? Hypocrites, you want to eat you cake and have it.
Haven't you heard that the court has just stopped the Kano State Governor from reinstating SLS? That is how difficult it is to change a policy in democracy unlike in military rule where there is no regard for law or the courts.

Gowon changed the borders from 4 to 12.

What you lots don't seem to understand is that regionalism is not just the existence of regions on paper but the extent to which they have power of autonomy. Ironsi is said to kill regional system not because he purportedly left the boundaries intact but because he stripped the regions of their autonomy and subjected them to the center.
Presently in Nigeria, we have six regions which are SS, SW, SE, NC, NW and NE; but that doesn't mean we are practicing regional system since these regions are powerless and taking orders from Abuja the center . That exactly was the situation under Ironsi. We had groups of provinces with same boundaries as the former regions but those groups of provinces were powerless and taking orders from the center and also reporting to the center. Is that how to practice regionalism? If that is how, then why are you Igbos not satisfied with the present system which is exactly like Ironsi's style which you claim was regionalism?

I can't but agree in totality with you. It's so sad that we the ordinary people would rather fight and abuse ourselves than come together regardless of tribes and initiate a way on how to deliver ourselves from these blood sucking vampires we call leaders. They thrive on our ignorance and disorderliness, they feed on our hatred and disdain for each other. We really need to wake up together in unity and deal badly with these devilish leaders and become emancipated at long last. Wouldn't be easy but whatever we would go through to achieve this feats is worth it. Thanks for your contributions and I really appreciate your decent and decisive manners of writing devoid of abuse, pride or whatever. Just as if we are having a brotherly conversation. Regards
Thanks I appreciate and I really did enjoy reading your well thought out comments.

I wish we could have decent conversations on this forum. I don't want to sound like a looney but I think that there are sponsored monikers on both sides here that are baiting people into derailing conversations.

I try to avoid such people rather than having useful conversations on how to move forward they will turn it into insults and abuse.

Nigeria has no region! Nigeria has 36 states and the FCT.

All these SW, SE, NC nonsense are unconstitutional.

Ironsi did not remove resource control from the regions and even if he did, he was killed just 45 days after. Why did Gowon not reversed it instead break the regions to 12 states while Awolowo and Yorubas were clapping for him

Its on record that only Igbos resisted the breakup of the regions

Why didn't Igbos resist Ironsi's breakup of the regions into groups of provinces?

You can't say we presently don't have regions. If we don't, then why are you Igbos always arguing that the SE Region is being oppressed by the other regions? Can non existent entities oppress another non existent entity?

There is currently no region in the 1999 constitution!

Ironsi changed the name from regions to provinces or states but the boundaries were left intact. Its like renaming a town. If the next govt dont like it, they revert.

What Gowon did is dividing the town into wards and giving different people to control. That made it almost impossible to reverse.

You know the truth but arguing blindly

Oga you don't have sense at all. You wrote that the regions are abolished and in its place a group of provinces shall be what would replace the regions, and I am asking you what really is the definition of regions? Are they not a group or collection of provinces, so what really changed. Ojukwu said in 6months regions would be abolished and against did Ironsi calling regions now a collection of provinces mean he abolished it when we know that the definition of regions are a collection of provinces? Oga try and have sense. If Ironsi were of another tribe I would still say he didn't destroy regions because he was not the one who carved up regions and replaced them with states. Try and have sense once more.

This is a lame argument you people refused to recover from because you wanna push Igbo hate.

Firstly, he stayed in power for 5months and unify the civil service 45 days before he was assassinated. If Nigeria did not want that policy, who enforced it after he was killed? Why did the new government not repeal the decree?
Why would he unify the civil service of a confederation if not to appropriate and control all of the resources to himself?
Secondly, when Ironsi was killed, it was still 4 regions renamed as 4 states. Why did Gowon divide the 4 states to 12 states making it impossible to reverse?
To dilute and divide the unity of the south east and at the same time further weakening the strength and size of the states all in preparation for war.

Those things can easily be reversed if Nigeria wanted to. Gowon creating 12 states from the 4 regions made the irreversible damage.

You all know this but because Gowon is not an Igbo man, you guys pretend he wasn't the one that did the irreversible damage

To weaken the Igbos? How can you make structural changes based on one nationality out of many? If Igbos wanna leave, why not let them go and the rest of Nigeria continue their jollification

The decree basically said that the civil service commission of each of the 4 Region's would be under a national commission. The point is that they have continued the age old lie that the decree its self abolished all 4 Region themselves and took away resource control, just to hide the fact that it was Gowon who did that with Decree 14 and 15

Before Ironsi came, each region was semi-autonomous with the western region through its civil service implementing many policies to improve the lives of its region, I.e free education & free health care services.

So, can you tell me how for instance, the western region can continue with her goals and aspirations when its civil service has been placed under the National Commission?

Did the regions have the same powers and autonomy before the coming of Ironsi and after his decree 34?

When we say, ironsi killed regionalism, we don't mean, literally but rather, he relieved the regions of most of its powers which he subsequently, passed on to the centre, where he is in charge.

In military rule, you lose the right to set any goals and aspirations for your self, except the one decided by the military. You guys don't get it, never could. Military rule is a dictatorship, it is not democracy. If people had said that Ironsi introduced military rule and denied the Region democracy, they would have a point. But what they said was that Ironsi was the one that abolished the Region's themselves, that he removed resource control, when Gowon did both

Ghana still practices Regionalism till despite having had several military coups, military leaders and several decrees

The only difference is that unlike Gowon, none of the military leaders of Ghana ever abolished the Region's and created states, nor denied them resource control. When civilian rule returned, the decrees died. Today, Ghana is a model of democracy in Africa

Millions of followers? Where? On Facebook or where?

You must be stark raving mad! Where were the millions of supporters since he was arrested? You are mentally ill.

For context , let me educate you. Ojukwu had a standing army of between 20,000 to 30,000 soldiers armed with Rifles, bought or seized helicopters, airplanes, including Minicoins fighter planes. Ojukwu constructed bunkers, built armoured vehicles, built rocket, built guns etc. He ran a government recognized by several countries yet he lost. Now, this was in 1967.

So, Nnamdi Kanu mobilizing a few disillusioned uneducated traders and artisans can never compare in any way shape or form to the gigantic efforts of Ojukwu! IPOB is nothing but a social media construct, it does not have real, actual solid followers. It does not have a clear cut ideology or means of achieving it's aims of Biafra revival.

Nnamdi Kanu does not have the organizational or administrative acumen to achieve anything apart from causing more problems for Igbos everywhere!

Ojukwu is a great leader and he possessed a strategic mindset. He left Biafra when he observed that he couldn't win. A great general lives to fight another day. He came back to Nigeria and died a Hero! He never allowed himself to be caught in the midst of a battle.

Nnamdi Kanu is a child, you cannot be engaging in a confrontation with the Nigeria state and keep your security porous. Infact, Nnamdi Kanu is alive today because of the magnanimity of Buhari. He could have been killed and buried without anybody knowing what happened!

Anywhere you see Buhari thank him for sparing the life of Nnamdi Kanu.

For IPOB to be successful, it must be completely restructured from the vision of one man to a robust organization with plans backed by a national committee not a one man show.

For me, one Nigeria will serve the Igbo peoples interest more.
