Does This Mean 2024 WAFCON Is Still Going To Hold? 🚨The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the "Elite A" list of female referees and assistant referees. This prestigious selection is a crucial step in the preparations for the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Selected referees will participate in an intensive training in Cairo, Egypt, from June 9 to 13. The goal of this internship is to strengthen their skills and prepare them for the high demands of the continental competition. During this period, umpires will benefit from a comprehensive program including theory sessions, practical on-field drills and rigorous physical assessments. The focus will be on mastering the new rules of the game and improving the refereeing performance in real-game situations.

| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 2:09pm On May 31, 2024 |
Deltamani:I answered na. I think they are have peculiarities and I answered based on that. If I were however asked to choose my starting midfield for the Super Falcons, I'll choose in this order; Deborah Abiodun Christy Uchiebe Halimatu Ayinde. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 3:14pm On May 31, 2024 |
lovewins:This means you will pick Deborah Abiodun and Christy Ucheibe as your double pivots in midfield plus an Attacking Midfielder in front of them…😏 |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 6:34pm On May 31, 2024 |
Deltamani:I think Ayinde is great if you give her a man2man duty. She's toooooo focused on it and when away from that person, she's still give sweet passes. But you see that Christy 1st she's way younger Then she can be deployed anywhere defending is needed. If you want to lock up the back, Ucheibe and Abiodun will do it very well for you. That doesn't take away from Ayinde. The other two sometimes switch off. But it's been way too long I've seen Ayinde switch off. Like, she had to be sent off for Morocco to feel they got an advantage at wafcon. That says alot for me. Out of the two youngies though, i feel Ayinde's Successor is Debbie for style of play. Overall, It's tooo close to outrightly choose cos if you watch Christy in UWCL, e go hard you to choose too. However, i pick Ayinde!! |

Deltamani:abeg make e hold o. Probably in ember months or so. That would be quite a stretch for caf Olympics teams too sha. Besides, why do we always undermine having numbers in this Refereeing Sector in CAF? It's worrisome. Just 1?? |

Deltamani:Big Question here, this two players might play similarly but very different too. One thing for sure that you must take note of is that Christy Ucheibe energy level is like that of two players and can cover more ground than anyone else in that position in this World as a whole. Ayinde is more experienced and calm on the ball and can pass out of tight corners while Ucheibe passing game is her major setback. For Woman2Woman Marking I will give it to Ayinde as she has done it pretty well to our face, I believe she might be the best that’s why Randy gave her the job at the last World Cup, She might do same against Aitana Bonmati at the Olympics after her excellent job against Lauren James. Anyway I wouldn’t give Christy Ucheibe that kind of marking job as it would limit her strength a lot as she’s like 2 players in 1 body. Abiodun is more like mini Ayinde right now. In essence I will say Ayinde can focus on one player and mark her out of the game, while Ucheibe can multitask. Giving Ucheibe one player is like limiting her strength which might affect the team so let her explore and cover more space then allow Ayinde stay. |

Deltamani:It is difficult to choose but let me say this.... Ayinde will give you a tight marking but Ucheibe will lock you up and throw the key away. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 9:44pm On May 31, 2024 |
mostob:In 90minutes of game Haven’t seen Ucheibe locked some one up with her marking, Can’t even remember when till date, Maybe i should think 💭 fessss my mind will recall...🥹😏 |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by mostob(m): 11:02pm On May 31, 2024 |
Deltamani:That's because Ayinde is the one been mostly tasked with the responsibility. Ucheibe will be restricted and underutilized if asked to man Mark just a single player. |

It’s going to be Completely wrong playing two defenders coming back from serious injuries over the ones in form… We really need to know the level of Blessing Demehin and Ashleigh Plumptre recovering from injuries…! We need Blessing Demehin at CB and Ucheibe in Midfield…! Osinachi Ohale Chidinma Okeke Michelle Alozie Nicole Payne

naptu2:Playing behind their opponents is their main attacking strength. I watched some of their World Cup games and realized that their wingers are really really key to all attacks. Plus there was some really terrible defending by most of their opponents, especially the way England defending against them. That was really terrible. Aitana and Vicky love sneaking waiting for a backpass from a winger that has ran behind, making space for them. Goals scored against them came from cross and nod, and this brings me to a part of our game that I've always complained about. Rash is arguably our best crosser right now. But we don't have any nodding figure in the box with connecting power like Onumonu. If you watched our goal at wafcon vs Morocco, you'll understand why. All the other cross and nod has been Rash on the receiving end and Kanu that never connects or threatens any defense. Spanish defenders will have trouble if we deploy this approach Another weakness from this Denmark game was i discovered Harder became more expressive around the 70th min and most of the Spanish players have already gotten tired and not eager to do any again. Denmark wasted most chance around the 70th to 90th min. Who will mark out Salma between Alozie/Okeke/Payne or Ucheibe. Any one marking her out will need pace and physical strength and should not expect Ohale drifting to the RB position to be exposing the RCB spot for the incoming runners. Carmona and Vicky sneaking when CBs get too deep. That's where Debbi and Ayinde becomes a problem for their style of play. I'll prefer Toni starts in that game ahead of JOE. JOE coming on as sub around 60th to 70th will be effective. Bottom line, a slight attacking adjustment to the England game tactic will help us. Unless Randy got something way better to cause their midfielders to fall back and assist their defenders that can't run or come tops vs a physical CF |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 3:27pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
daveP:WellDone DavePPPPPPPP Concerning their Wingers Mariona is their main key in that Aspect as she has her own way of doing that and unlocking the opponents defense with the way she drifts from Left to Right and into the midfield, she must be watched closely but who will keep her at Bay as she plays from the Left Alozie, Okeke or Nicole Payne?? Athenea del Castillo on the opposite flank is good too but not as Mariona so she can easily be handled, but she’s Pacy.. On the aspect of Crossing Rash is arguably the best now in the Starting 11 but in the team it goes to Rinsola Babajide easily but Randy hasn’t find a way to bring her on board maybe Pre-Olympics Preparation Randy will work on that.. Kanu Is dangerous in the Air but her connection and final decision making has been poor so can’t count on that, We still don’t have a no.9 like Oparanozie who’s a threat in the Air and can impose herself physically on the Center Backs of the Opponents. (Macleans Chinonyerem is the best Option but not in team right now maybe in the future) Who starts at no.9 against Spain? Ihezuo or Esther? I Will prefer Oshoala from the bench in that Particular game… Onumonu still struggling with Ankle injury don’t know if she will be fit enough for the Olympics yet. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 3:42pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
daveP:In Midfield against Spain I will go with Ayinde, Ucheibe and Toni Payne, With Ayinde trying her best with Aitana Bonmati who loves to drop into space to collect the ball, Ayinde like follow follow too so she’s ready to roam with her, Ucheibe to double tasks💯.. Payne should be able to connect with the attack well with her skills and pace as she’s capable of moving with the ball too, then Echegini can come in at 70minutes to rap things up for Payne! Deborah for Ayinde.. Ajibade still our key player upfront can deal with any of the Spainish Fullbacks especially Olga Carmona. If we’re to go with Crosses into the box then Babajide can as well do that but who attacks the balls when she crosses ![]() Spain top3 Engine Rooms right now are Aitana, Mariona and Hermoso.. All their games that have watched from World Cup till now Spain plays with only 1 Defensive Midfielders which is Real Madrid Teresa Abelleira or someone else with the other two midfielders doing equal job of Creating and Defending (Aitana and Hermoso in recent games like the UEFA Nations League Final).. I don’t think there would be much problem policing Salma as Ohale and Demehin should be able to match her, she do need the ball at her left foot so closing her down will boil down to our RB and RCB… Randy usual 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2 can do the job on that day as far as we remain compact with our defensive shape.! Blessing Demehin should be ready but My Major Worries is that Ashleigh Plumptre might not be fit enough for the Olympics.. Okeke is tested and trusted as she has played on the big stage before too.! |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 3:50pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
We also do have a little advantage with our Wingers as they’re good at doing defensive works too,.. Ihezuo can press very well too as she’s Quick & Physical 4-2-3-1 Nnadozie Alozie or Okeke - Ohale—Demehin - Plumptre or Okeke Ayinde—Ucheibe Ajibade—Payne—Kanu or Babajide Ihezuo or Okoronkwo Or 3-5-2 Nnadozie Demehin — Ohale — Plumptre or Okeke Alozie - Ayinde—Abiodun—Ucheibe—T Payne Ajibade— Ihezuo |

Deltamani:..Will Plumptre and Demehin be back and be at their best, before Olympics, Olympics is less that 2 months... |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 4:38pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
carbonado:Demehin should though her last game for Stade de Reims was on February 17th till date she hasn’t played any game but Plumptre is more like 50/50 that’s why Okeke and Nicole Payne will have to be in the Picture… Randy also had some few names that are supposed to be assessed if they are good enough to go for the Olympics but with the way things are going he might narrow the List down to 23 Players for the 10days Camp in Spain and then 18 for the Olympics..! |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 6:18pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
But what will it take for Asisat Oshoala to play on the Flanks? Like she’s still very very quick but doesn’t want to play as a winger, can put in a good crosss into the Box too… I wish sha can just give us that Oshoala of 2014–2020 outrun the fullbacks on the flanks and deliver good balls.. At least for 60minutes won’t be bad but again Randy demands his winger to always help the fullbacks with defensive Duties. |

Deltamani:The Wingback formation looks okay to contain them in 1st half. Then switch to the other 433 or 4213 with JOE playing behind the 3 attackers. With this discovery, e go pain me if Ify doesn't make it. I doubt Ihezuo will have much of a presence with Spain. Probably Esther. We need 4 friendlies at least to see how they'll merge. Syncing might change how we imagine them shaping up. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by isan(m): 11:08pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
What is ify going to do against spain ? Stand around in the box waiting for cross because she scored one header 2 years ago ? How you prefer ify to pressing machine ihezuo ? You don't know we have to press spain from the front and not allw them build from the back .....ihezuo , babajide and ajibade are going to be vital against spain daveP: |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 11:12pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
Deltamani:We'll need two crosser/wingers which are Rinsola and Rasheedat. It's now that 9 that's good aerially with an on rushing midfielder for rebound that is left. Availability of these names you listed might be down to how they are assessed during the camp prep and friendlies. Some names making final list is also dependent on if CAF sets a date for Wafcon 2024 before Olympics proper. One thing is certain-- anyhow we pair the CBs, i doubt we will be so slack and foolish like England and these Denmark Defenders. They made stuff too easy for the Spanish players |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 11:16pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
Deltamani:Lol. Expect less from her for sanity. Connecting crosses in GWG has been Herculean in all sincerity. Provided it is flank duty but pace and acceleration, then she'll deliver on the edge of that box. But 60mins 🥱🥱😹 |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 11:21pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
isan:Most of what i said is based on what is available so far in the team. That is why many of us have swallowed our pain as Oparanozie successor is no more. I don't like the fact that she's the only one with such in any match for the SF since that header( 2yrs and nobody has replicated that and that is worrisome) So, don't take it that way. The angle is about exploiting the biggest weakness of Spain, which imo, ihezuo can't offer. If we go the ihezuo route, it will just be England repeat where we defend well but no attacking bite. It's up to her to prove me wrong. |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by isan(m): 11:59pm On Jun 01, 2024 |
Against Spain we won't be putting any crosses in their box , we will be defending for 90 minutes we are not going to dominate them we can only hurt in counter with our pace , onumonu will be useless in that match daveP: |

daveP:The truth is the only Desire Oparanozie Successor will be Maclean Chinonyerem but she’s low on the pecking order considering Randy Waldrum options at no.9 Many People here ain’t following up the the Russian league that’s why they can’t even tell how good Maclean is.. She’s a well built natural no.9, Quick and Strong, Deadly in front of goal, Uses both feet’s effectively, Very good in the air, Her hold up play is good, Can play with back to goal and also a good presser.. Maclean might even come in at No.5 or no.6 behind Asisat Oshoala, Ifeoma Onumonu, Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo
