Dear scholars, I greet you all. a friend actually refer me here concerning any question about student Visa and I have gather lot of info after going through the trends. However I have a little concern about proof of fund. 1. My husband is here in Nigeria but his aunt which is in USA is the one that want to give her statement as proof of fund. Please what are the chances of influencing my visa approval? 2. Can I call her my aunt inlaw, or I should just say my aunt (note she is married so she is not bearing same surname with my husband)? 3. Is there any need for my husband to provide second proof of fund as support? (though he didn't have much that could cover my tuition fee but his aunt is 'rich-aunt' in USA). 4. She is legally in USA and ofcourse in medical line. 5. The total deficit is about $39,500, please what are my chances without scholarship? I will sincerely appreciate your candid advice on these raised issues. Thank you very much |

Kitanmercy:Your husband’s aunt sponsoring you might be a red flag. I’ll advice you retrieve your I-20 in a different way. Can be your dad or your mum or look for a way to boost your husband’s account. No matter how your supposed “rich aunty” is, I don’t see how she would fork out $40,000 per year just for you lol. Medical doctor or no medical doctor. It is hard for anyone here to believe. I don’t even believe that myself. Why not look for schools where you can get funding? If you can’t, then your best bet is to look for ways to boost your husband's account. |

Kitanmercy:Hey 🤠 1. Naturally, the USA embassy prefers the parents or family or employer of an F-1 VISA applicant to stands as sponsor, but nevertheless, we have seen many adopted individuals and orphans who have successfully gotten F-1 VISA via 3rd party sponsors. 2. The prime concern of the USA embassy on proof of funds POF is the authenticity and genuineness of the sources , as well as the continuation of the sources of income so that he or she wont back out when you are in the middle of study (hence, the embassy prefers parents or family members the most. 3. In family tree, that woman in USA is your FAMILY-BY-MARRIAGE, therefore, she is eligible to sponsor you. You can use her USA financial statement and if she has a Nigeria bank account she can use it also. In your DS-160 and other online application please refer to her as SISTER-IN-LAW. Affidafit of change of name can guide consular to her maiden name and thats not even much necessary. 4. Although there are few other options but your sister- in law in the USA has a good reputation as a doctor who is a resources to America, therefore i will recommend you continue your plan if she is ready to stand for you. 5.Nevertheless, either you use your sister in law , or your husband or you later received full funding scholarships, the only thing all of this will do for you is Proof of Funds. 6. You must proof other requirements like , Ties to Nigeria, After graduation plans, the relevant of your program of study, the reputation of the school that gave you the Form-120 SEVP APPROVED, and how well you are able to communicate with the consular before your VISA can be granted. Best Wishes 🙏 |

Debbieeeeeee:God is Great 😭😭 So I had my interview in Abuja and my God! the rejection was crazy (I thought it would be different from Lagos) I had been denied visa before twice in Lagos What changed now that I can say for myself is I had funding but you know I was still scared definitely because of the previous experiences. It was the Black American Lady Visa Approved, Abuja Me: Good Morning ma, VO: Good morning, May I have your passport and i20? Me: passed it VO: Okay, errrm, are you married? Me: No, I am not VO: Do you have kids? Me: She looked up here lol - I shoke my head, not at all VO: Have you ever traveled outside the country? Me: No, I have not had any reason to VO: I see your tuition and living expense is $40k, how do you intend to pay for it? Me: *in my mind, can’t you see I have funding 🤣🤣🤣* I have a GA and tuition waiver from the department where I will be supporting in Undergraduate teaching and also be responsible for grading their assignments, tests and examination VO: Okay, okay, When did you graduate? ME: I had my Bachelors degree in (my course in school) VO: I mean when did you graduate) ME: Oh, I’m sorry, I graduated from University of *** in 20** where I had my bachelor’s degree in **** VO: Why are you going for your PHd Now? ME: (I prepared for this question my God but i didn’t remember at this point 😂😂🤣) after few seconds I said - It will prepare me with the Analytical, methodology and research skills that I will need to take up the lecturing role at my Alma mata university of ** which I will be taking after the successful completion of my PhD program VO: What work do you currently do? ME: I currently work as a research with Dr *** in the department of ***, university of *** where I assist in data gathering, data filtering and conduct literature review I in order to draw out insights from policies, trends and trade dynamics. Infact, I am currently reviewing literature on gender distribution of inequality VO: Okay, so what project would you be working on? ME: *I didn’t get this question and didn’t want to be not talk* so I said I would be taking up a role as lecturer after my program, I will gain the necessary research skill that will prepare me ahead of my future commitment….. she cut me VO: looked at me, and said., You didn’t get me, You are researcher right? ME: Yes, I am VO: So what project would you be working on) *she said this slowly so I could hear her. Ladies and gentlemen, I didn’t prepare for this question but God took control my God, I remembered my final year project topic ME: Oh, I will be working on the topic, Public spending on poverty reduction in Nigeria, I will focus on health and education sector in order to determine if there is a link on whether increase in government expenditure on health and education would reduce poverty in the country. PS: I didn’t say this smoothly at all VO: Started typing…. VO: I will be approving your visa, looked at me and smiled back lol 😂😂😂😂😂 ME: Thank you Ma, I was still waiting for my passport that I even asked for it, “what of my passport” VO: Your passport? I would have to approve it… you’ll get it in the location… * I no dey hear anything again* ME: I’m so sorry VO: It’s okay, smiling at me like this guy na novice 😂😂😂😂 LET ALL YOUR ANSWERS ALWAYS BE THE SAME WITH WHAT IS IN YOUR DS-160. THIS IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO FILL IT YOURSELF. |

Hello NL! I have a pressing issue at hand, I recently received my I-20 form and I have been caught between how to go about the sevis fee and picking a date for a visa appointment. Note, that my resumption date is August and I am expected to arrive on July 16. Please I would appreciate it if you could guide me on what steps to take. Please treat it as urgent. Thanks. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Debbieeeeeee: 9:07am On Jun 07, 2024 |
V1kt0r:To pay your SEVIS fee, visit the FMJ Fee website, log in, and generate a Western Union coupon. Then, ask a family member, friend, or associate to take the coupon to a Western Union location to make the payment for you. This is the fastest option. While there are other payment methods available, considering the time frame, the WU option is preferable because it offers almost immediate confirmation after payment. After paying the visa fee, you will need to log into portal.ustraveldocs.com, choose Nigeria, and set up an appointment scheduling profile. Link your DS-160 to the profile and follow the prompts to get approval to schedule an appointment. Once approved, schedule an appointment 60 days prior to the date of arrival stated on your I-20. If needed, you may be eligible to request an emergency appointment with the appropriate documentation. Cheers! |

V1kt0r:Hey 🤠 1. Go ahead with the payment of your SEVIS fee. It is valid for one year and especially its the power house of that Form-120 in your hand. 2. Defer your admission to Spring 2025 because you are not prepared for mock and a good mock awareness should take you at least 4 weeks to be near unforgettable of what you have memorized. 3.Good communication skills is actually every USA visa applicant's last resort in front of the VISA consulars. They asked you 1+1 which is = 2. But when you tell the consular that 1+1 is actually 2 then you have missed the answer . That actually makes the consulars thinks that you are not sure. Best Wishes 🙏 |
