Like that former Osun state commissioner said up there, they should look into the process, not the product. It's all just smoke and mirrors |

Dear CUPP, if u are reading, carefully read this: Regional system of govt/decentralization is best because it is hard to hold leaders accountable in the current system. There is a reason why it is a known fact backed by evidences that countries that are in heterogenous in nature rarely succeed while nation states do better all over the world. The current system makes the governors to hide away from their responsibilities, giving the central govt so much power, the people now focus more on the cental govt, leaving their governors. Now, the central govt who is truly powerful is not easily held accountable because ethnic sentiment will set in. The presidents no matter how incompetent will enjoy the support of his ethnic group. Protesters will be easily seen from ethnic dimension. Is there a solution to ethnic sentiment? No! There is none! Humans will surely play this ethnic game. I mean, even the most developed societies still battle with racism. The best thing to do is setup a system that makes it harder to experience the impact of ethnic sentiments. This is one core area regionalism will solve. With regions, the citizens of the regions will now focus on their regional leaders more who are their own ethnic family members. The sentiment will reduce. Protests wont be seen from the ethnic angle anymore. No matter how u argue it, it will reduce. The cental leadership would now focus on other things. I mean, Dubai is like a country inside a country. Grant regions such autonomy. Pleasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, enough of the soffocation and by fire, by force tactics na. Humans will always be humans. Whoever that is in the central will always have more of his ethnic group people around him. This is a fact. We can never ever stop this reality. There is always the contest for ethnic groups to fight over power. U see power, political power and resources, humans dont joke with this. Also, regional govt will end the laziness. Regions that wants to wallow in laziness are free to continue like that. Others will be forced to look inward and harness their god given resources and powers. I mean, UK is heavily dependant on service economy. U dont need all the oil in the world to grow. I mean, this will fix that. Some of the regions in Nigeria have the capacity to have a more agric based economy that Netherlands if they work hard. Thirdly, regional govt will improve security. I mean, regions can now decide how u move into their regions. Not too stricts but they can decide on this. They have total control of their internal security, so ethnic sentiments wont setin when dealing with security issues. They control their population. Now, the current system we have encourage us to birth anyhow. I mean, population is a game in politics for the foolish blacks. I mean, some see it as a way to win elections and take over the central govt which gives them full access to riches of the lands. Now, regional govt has ended this do or die central govt election, if u decide to over populate ur region, that is ur own cup of tea. Regions that wants to enact birth control will do so freely. The love will be there. Each regions will try so hard not to be left behind. They will naturally love their regions, I mean, they want to be the best. See eh, the list goes on. I can lecture you on the endless list. This will make a better society, it will help us hold our leaders accountable. I can protest if I want to. Now, I cant protest because I would be tagged a guy from this tribe or that tribe if someone from my ethnic group is not ruling. Do this and watch Nigeria compete with gtreat countries from Asia in 20 years time. |

This bill is a double-edged sword. If we can control corruption, it will be the best decision made for Nigeria; however, if we allow corruption to flourish, Naija will be doomed. |

Even if it becomes 5 years tenure, how does the existing skewed political structure of Nigeria under unitary govt system with excess power in Abuja, stop the emergence of quacks as president and governors? Instead of going for political restructuring of Nigeria to enthrone regional or zonal government system with fiscal federalism, these law makers want to end the tenures of the existing president and governors quickly, so that the law makers shall quickly succeed the present president and governors. |

Islie: "Even if we return to regional government today what we will have is the decentralization of corruption." ----- Pa Alake. The above is a fat lie. Decentralisation of power to Regional, or now Zonal governments, increases accountability from the elected leaders to the citizens. In the present governance system, Abuja central government is far from the people, hence little to accountabity from political office holders to the citizens. |

Islie:From my own end, any which way is the way after all there has been no government in Nigeria not to talk of Democracy over the years. Meanwhile, in a situation where three persons are entitled to enjoy the goodies of their common resources but only two of them are having access to it leaving the third person helpless, definitely, something has to be done to bring normalcy, equity and equality to the system, hence the situation on ground. |

PresidObi:Pandora's box is what. A man who used States' funds to put into family business. Every politician has a dirty under wear, it's just that some are more dirty than others. PO is not a saint. The only notable investment he did with State funds is to open a brewery industry whose value at this moment is nothing to talk about. Do you know how much that investment would have been of worth now if he had even put it in harnessing the mineral resources in the land. |

BossGerald:This whole bragging started after Tinubu got to power, they were all quiet during the campaign period but, after Tinubu won, they are now feeling on top of the world, saying all sort of rubbish online. To them, they think it's them that decide who becomes president, even northerners that have produced more presidents don't brag the way these guys have been bragging after Tinubu won the election |
| Re: Disquiet As Lawmakers Plan To End President, Governors’ Second Term by Pacesetter123(m): 5:12pm On Jun 16, 2024 |
I support this bill with my full chest. The single term will promote good governance and a better performance. Unlike the present two terms arrangements that the governor/president will used the last two years of their first term for campaign and fighting opponents for second term re-election.While the second term is always used for looting of Treasury. So they hardly have time to sit down and work. But with single term, performance will increase, looting will be reduced and political fighting and heating up the polity will minimize. And for the rotation based on geopolitical zone, it's also a welcome development cos it will give equal opportunities to all the zones to produce the president. This will reduce political tension and engender peace in the country. But I will add that the geopolitical zoning should be done on South and North basis. For instance,if the law takes effect this year, the S/W should be allowed to go for the next 6 years after Tinubu's 4 yearsto complete this present first term. Then after that,it should go to the north probably, the N/E or N/C.After 6 years,it come back to the south and probably to the S/E.After that back to another geopolitical zone in the north. By so doing, peace will rein. Then concerning the position of the 2nd Vice president,I will disagree with that. I suggest it should still be one Vice President to cut cost of governance and reduce duplication of duties. That's my submissions. |

comrChris:Lol before election how were you talking to the few Yorubas that engaged you online? You were busy beating your chest and cursing, and you expect more Yorubas to engage you when the majority knew your packaged messiah is not going anywhere?? Yorubas got more serious online after election when it became obvious that you wanted to transfer all the nonsense you were saying about the Fulanis since 2015 to the Yorubas so that you won't have a field day like you had for 8 years under Buhari. Now it is tribalism for tribalism, hate for hate, bragging for bragging, curse for curse etc etc... 😂 |
