Good morning colleagues. Please I need an advice on the best route to retain my stay in the UK. I'm a student with my program coming to completion in September, while my visa expires in Jan 2025. I'm actually thinking of post study work visa(PSWV) for a family of 4, but my fear is after this PSWV, what next? As I'm aware that most companies don't want to sponsor even after the so called PSWV. I've lots of experience in my field but I think the companies are mostly concerned about the sponsorship. Please what is the best thing for me to do as I've run out of ideas? Thanks. |

Oladepo812:If I get you correctly, you're already worried about what will happen in 2027 after your PSW? Just get the PSW first and start strategizing. |

justwise:since I'm all for factual and correct information and enlightenment, I will speak to the bolded.😎😁 Roe v Wade both when it was in force and now that it has been overturned, always have in both instances allowed for abortion when the mother's life is at risk. 3ven with Roe v Wade it would be illegal to remove a 6 months old preggo, fundamental human right notwithstanding, cos it poses a threat to the woman's life. And without Roe v Wade, an early high risk preggo with severe co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension or say an ectopic pregnancy would be legal to be terminated, as not doing so poses a threat to the woman's life. The end!

Is there anyone who traveled recently? As a first time traveler, how should I deal with the officials at the airport who love to harass or demand for bribe? What's the best way to relate with them please. |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by missjekyll: 11:58am On Jul 06, 2024 |
Treadway:Is that true of rabid states like florida though? Why am I hearing about women travelling to abort babies who do not have brains and would suffer and eventually die soon after birth? This is not a gotcha question. I haven't been paying attention to the US for a while |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 12:13pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
missjekyll:You are hearing right, in many states in US abortion is banned in almost all circumstances, some abortion is ban after 6wks, republicans run states are pushing for a complete ban on abortion hence my unanswered question |

justwise:Thank you. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:23pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
justwise:Not quite correct. The 6 week ban is the strictest form of abortion ban (6 weeks, which is 2 weeks after a missed period, is the earliest a heartbeat can be detected and when a foetus is deemed to be viable ) and applies in a number of Republican states. Other non republican states have much more liberal abortion rules, which is why some women travel there to have their procedures done. |

missjekyll:really can't comment on that...but would Def be smart to seek evidence... Cos no be today propaganda don dey on overdrive on top sensitive issues, esp in the US of A. Also and more importantly, before we go off tangent, lets remind ourselves that I responded to answer/correct Justwise's question/inference on the implications of Roe v Wade, in life threatening pregnancies. |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by missjekyll: 12:31pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
justwise:Abolishing roe v wade left it up to each individual state to make their own laws on abortion. Progressive states like carlifornia, ny , Washington dc have kept the right to abortion. Some rabid states like alabama, florida have essentially banned abortion. American women are very angry about this and are gearing up to vote against the republicans. Democrats need to find a good candidate. |

Zahra29:I'm not sure i get your disagreement with my post, is abortion not banned in some states after 6wks? |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:41pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
justwise:Perhaps I misunderstood your post. I thought you were inferring that some states were pushing for an abortion ban even earlier than 6 weeks, Ie a "complete ban" |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Treadway: 12:42pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
missjekyll:don't know about propaganda, but the law is what is quoted below. Even includes rape, human trafficking and incest as exceptions, aside the very obvious threat to the mother's life in Florida In Alabama, only exception is when the mother's life is at risk Let's say no to propaganda 💯 With or without Roe v Wade, when the life of the mother is at risk, as in justwise's hypothetical case, abortion is allowed.

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 12:45pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
missjekyll:Yes that is correct and my question to pro life is..if after 6wks a doctor suggested termination to save the life of the mother then what happens? |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:47pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
missjekyll:American women are not a monolith. There is a sizeable number that think that abortion is immoral, for example many would disagree with the freedom to terminate a healthy pregnancy at the stage when the baby would have been able to survive outside the womb. A woman has rights, but so also does an innocent baby who can feel, hear, move. It's not a black and white issue. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 12:49pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
Zahra29:What i meant was that some republicans want even a complete ban, i'm not saying that such law has been implemented in any state. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 12:52pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
Zahra29: If a women is raped do you think she has the right to terminate that pregnancy after 6wks? |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:52pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
justwise:I don't think you can have a ban before 6 weeks. That's what my post was about. 6 weeks is very very early - only 2 weeks after a missed period. Many women don't even realise they are pregnant yet and there isn't a heartbeat before 6 weeks. The heartbeat is what determines a viable foetus. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 12:56pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
justwise:The abortion law allows provision for certain cases such as rape. Treadway has made a couple of posts on this. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 12:58pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
Zahra29:In all republican run states? |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 1:04pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
justwise:That I don't know... |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Treadway: 1:06pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
Zahra29:he/anyone that really wants to know, can simply go on Google and check the rules for each republican state pertaining to rape. Pretty easy right..lol At least thankfully, we have successfully cleared up the false controversy on life threatening conditions. That is one milestone.. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by justwise(mod): 1:21pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
Zahra29:Many legal abortion clinics are forced to close down either by the politicians or ant-abortion groups in a way to go round the abortion exemptions. This is why a lot of women travel to democrat run states for abortion. |
