mrvitalis:Yes, we are saying the same thing. Somehow, it was only Igbos who managed to surrender and were spared, while those of other tribes were the stubborn ones. You should be ashamed that you cant think of a better lie to tell. Secondly, those who "stopped" the coup were not real patriots. the real patriots were the likes of Nzeogwu, Ademoyega, and as this essay above suggests, Anuforo, who genuinely did what they did out a belief in a great Nigeria. They were subverted by Ifeajuna and others who held a secret agenda, in collaboration with Ojukwu and Ironsi. Ojukwu was the commander of troops in Kano. He was informed of the coup by the plotters - he could have stopped it if he wished but it was necessary to use them to eliminate those he needed gone before he would then step in to "stop" the coup along with Ironsi. I am not one of those who would lay the blame for the actions of a few men on an entire Igbo nation. That doesn't make sense. But you cannot deny that a few Igbo men were guilty of nursing an ethnic supremacist agenda, and that drove their actions on that fateful day. Someone listening to you people talk may come to the conclusion that it is SmartyPants on Nairaland preventing Igbos from leaving. ![]() |

ChukwuEmeka00:You appear as someone fond of attacking the messenger and ignoring the message. Who opposed insertion of referendum and secession clauses in the independence constitution? -An Ibo man Nnamdi Azikiwe. Who destroyed the regions through abrogation of Decree 34?-An Ibo Aguiyi Ironsi. Why were the Ibo opposed to secession and referendum pre independence? Because you felt you would achieve political power. Unfortunately you ended up wit a powerless lame duck ceremonial presidency while the power resided with the Prime minister. So what did the Ibo do? The Ibo turned to their military wing to execute an Ibo coup in January 1966 where you slaughtered all the Military and political leaders of other tribes while mischievously keeping all your own military and political leaders safe. But by July 1966 you had lost what you gained through Aguiyi Ironsi when the counter coup swept you out of power. What did the Ibo do? The Ibo declared Biafra and secession you and Nnamdi Azikiwe had rejected pre independence. So once again I say the energy you are using to pursue Anioma state, use such energy to pursue referendum clause because there is no harm in trying. OR Stop crying like rain drenched chickens. Stop abusing and insulting leaders of other tribes. Imbibe the spirit of humility and work with other tribes to produce an acceptable candidate for the presidency. You guys need to stop the chest beating and insults . You can NEVER get the presidency that way. Reach out to other tribes and negotiate your way to the presidency. I assure you that the Peter Obi and obidients way will never work. You can't insult leaders of other tribes and expect to be voted for. A word is enough for the wise. |

confusedlady:🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣....🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️ Please, why are you this callous and bitter. Who did this to you? Who made you a master manipulator and a habitual liar? You said that "Igbos killed Northerners that lived in Eastern Nigeria and appropriated their property since 1800s." I will only respond to this deliberate lies to save people from your historical revision and narcissism. 1. In the 1800s the Hausa people were being masaccred by the Fulani jihadi invaders led by Uthman Dan Fodio. There was no Nigeria nọr Northerners or Easterners; just different ethnic groups that didn't interfere in each other's businesses. 2. In the 1800s, Easterners were fighting the British in a war that began with Ekumeku resistance and ended the the Anglo-Aro war around 1902. Fulanis were signing agreements with the British to allow them retain their conquered territories from Sokoto (called Gobir by Hausas) to Ilorin in Yoruba land. Ahmadu Bello wanted to continue this conquest before he died. There were no northerners in the East at this time. 3. Nigeria was created in 1914 by Frederick Lugard under the rulership of Queen Victoria. Easterners set up businesses in the north but northerners didn't have the education or money to do same in the East. 4. In the 1940s and 1950s, Ahmadu Bello stated that the North won't be part of Nigeria because they were not educated enough. Easterners were the most educated and consequently became the majority of civil servants and military officers in all the region's, especially the north. Igbos were working in Northern region's government houses and doing business there. 5. There's a BBC interview of Ahmadu Bello speaking about his indigenization policy which forced every northerner to learn Hausa language and begin to take part in politics. He complained that the Igbos were taking over everything. 6. Northerners have never owned a property in Eastern Nigeria. They come here, do their businesses, and go home. They usually live in Mosques cos they don't have the money or the willingness to build anything. They don't even have properties in their own homeland. 7. The only time in Nigeria's history that any ethnic group has faced appropriation of their properties was during the civil war when Igbo owned properties all over Nigeria were claimed forcefully. Most states, including northern states, have given the Igbos back their properties, except Rivers State till date. Now that I have properly exposed your ignorance and narcissistic manipulation, I will ask you to please prove me wrong by providing any evidence that Easterners appropriated property belonging to northerners since the 1800s. If it's a deliberate lie, then you shall never get anything good in life. Show evidence of that claim to avoid disgracing yourself. |

ChukwuEmeka00:The arrogance of your ignorance would be amusing if not for the fact that your fellow ignorant Ibos might believe you and think you a local champion. Below I present a video of the proceedings at the Oputa panel where the Arewa delegates protest against Ibo atrocities and appropriation of their lands and property in Eastern Nigeria in 1966. It is a long video but I hope you are not too far gone in your Ibo supremacist toga....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHdU7WWFNT0?si=D76VlvtdLFT0bM3i |

confusedlady:You would not have known who Zik and Igbos were had the British not created Nigeria After the British created Nigeria, the various ethnic groups now have to go and look for referendum to leave a country they never willingly agreed to join? Laughable We Igbo will gain independence from Nigeria whether you people like it or not. Nigeria is unravelling everyday and its just a question of time before this failed union collapses and comes to an end. |

"Anuforo showed greater concern for the fate that would befall his mother, wife and children than the obvious peril that waited for him. "What about the mothers ,wives and Children of those who Anuforo executed including Lt Col Pam who left 5 Children behind, what was his plan for the families of his victims? |

mrvitalis:I have said it before, Nnamdi Azikwe removed secession from the 1960 Constitution and by default the 1963 Constitution. Aguyi Ironsi removed the Regional government. The are both Igbos. So what are guys shouting about. Your forefathers are the Unity beggers. Azikwe even made a request for secession treasonable and so has it been till today. To amend the Constitution, I will suggest that your Senators and House of Representative members should present such bill. Or All Igbos can relocate to the East. For me it's hypocritical for Igbos to expect others to start the constitutional amendment to let them go. |

mrvitalis:I don't have a single hate for Igbos. I have very good Igbo friends, including many Imo and Anambra girls, we roll real good. My point here is that you should stop pointing a finger like Sanwo Olu, because the other four fingers will be pointing at you. You must also agree mistakes were made in the past which is why we are human. One of us, Yoruba made mistakes in Ilorin century ago, that's the reality. You can't see any of us defending such mistakes, this is where we are a different from you guys. Stop defending the mistakes your past leaders made One love Bro |
