Why is NOBODY talking about the price of potatoes?

Everybody is talking about the price of rice and beans. But the price of potatoes has gone OFF THE CHART!

2 medium-sized potatoes are sold for #500 in a major market around here. 3 VERY small ones go for #500 too.

It's crazy!

They are not even goodlooking potatoes, either.

The prices of things these days is not just annoying but hilarious to me. Not just because it's funny, but just to laugh and calm myself down in order not to run mad with every Tom, Dick and Herry.

I used to add potatoes in my beans to complement it, but it seems potatoes too have joined the league of rice and beans. Whether you believe it or not, this is technically a famine.

Omoh,once God say na your time, nothing can stop it . Na potato time be this. . It's either you go along with the high price or you start planting your own potatoes .

Well,the last time I bought 1k potato,I actually regretted it,cuz they all melted in the beans which I cooked it with.......Since then,I just cook my beans and couple it up with rice or eat it with bread.....me and potatoes and yam no get any business together for now again

Potatoes was used as substitute when yam gets expensive and even for Bubu time aboki go sell #400 potatoes for me and I will it will be half of a polythene bag.

Right now nothing can successfully as substitute to anything again yet they say we are in the best government administration ever in the history of the world..

People really don't see this one as food, it's to them just an add-on or an "appetizer".


The question still remain, "what happened to Loi Loi?"

What many people have failed to realise is that sweet potato is now used for fufu/Amala/tuwo. It has become the perfect replacement for maize, at least in many northern Nigerian communities. You can grow it without fertiliser unlike maize which will disgrace a farmer that fails to adequately apply fertiliser which is quite expensive at the moment.

The economy is very devastating coz 001 can never make one healthy. No wonder some men are now loosing weight, survival of the fittest.

That is the current ratio people are operating in Nigeria (101). Anybody who is eating more than that should be arrested for fraudlent activities

Same thing happening to the price of loo loi. Imagine rice that we bought less than 10k ten years ago two cups is now 1k

It's becoming something else

The economy has affected the plants too. The plants are feeling the heat too

The best thing is to grow most of the things u consume(eat)....Hard times calls for drastic measures

First soak your beans in warm water for an hour before cooking.
You want have to cook it for 30 minutes before everything will be soft

..... U sef dey even try .... I dey soak my beans overnight sef !!!

Now e be like the beans don grow immune system. The one wey I soak over night wey I dey cook this morning never done since 1 hour 30 mins.
