Bronze in 2004 and FIBA 06 now. He was about to lead them to another LeBronze again but Steph said no grin

Interesting question

What if Embiid wasn't such a vajayjay and actually played for France?

Him and Wemby would definitely have given them a puncher's chance grin

A40 it looks like our Boy Noah Lyles beef with the NBA is actually more than them being called World Champs. There is more to this story than most of us initially thought.

I don't know why He was shocked Addidas was using an NBA star to push a product. NBA, NFL,MLB and NHL stars will always come first when companies are looking for athletes to help sell products. Heck after this just
concluded Olympics, there will more Athletes not only in track but in other niche sports that would have leapfrogged Lyles in terms of commercial viability too.

True. I mean, he would offer more offense than Gobert at the 5.

Lyles is a bit of a dork. I still don't understand the method to the madness of his rant besides a cry for attention

After Marion Jones, Gatlin etc all pissed hot everyone migrated from being enamored with track runners.

So that probably messed with his head and he probably thought I need to try something. So in your moment of triumph you tried to put down another league that has nothing to do with you. Now he's basically a World and Olympics champion that's not really loved or respected in his own country. Do you know how crazy it is for your country people to root for you to fail at the fvckin Olympics??

And besides who the fvck is going to buy a Noah Lyles shoe? Do they think these people just be giving anybody shoes? They have to gauge how marketable you are first.

The popularity he has now is not even the good popularity or even the polarizing type it's the go away you nuisance type.

Would have been a far more compelling match up. Imagine Embiid winning gold with France. The confidence it would give him entering the next season

This one does nothing cos he's just one of the guys
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 12:37am On Aug 13, 2024
Colin Cowherd saying Steph singlehandedly carried them

Doug Gottlieb saying Steph should been MVP. Interesting

I agree but I can’t imagine another team other than the US winning gold. Between his body and his mentality I don’t know which is weaker at this point.
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 8:09pm On Aug 13, 2024
Having all this achievement at this age is just criminal. Any player in the prime years of their career would kill to have this, let alone a year 21 guy.

Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 9:19pm On Aug 13, 2024
Interesting point. Curry has been at the receiving end of this many a time.
Skrrrrrrr:
We can decide if the MVP should be given to the highest scoring player or to the most consistent player spread across the game.
As far as I know, it is usually giving to the highest scoring player, that was how Durant won it in 2018, even though steph was better in 3 of 4 games. The needle always shifts when it's steph.
And honestly, no hate on Lebron but I can't point to anything exceptional he did. He was reliable but not outstanding. Steph was outstanding in those two games, which is coincidentally their toughest games. Those games came within one possession.
The other games, the opponents were cake and they basically walked over them...
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 10:16pm On Aug 13, 2024
Skrrrrrrr:
Honestly, I don't think Lebron should have been MVP, same way I think steph should have been finals MVP in 2018 over KD. Because I think the voting should be based on their performance spread over the time period. In 2018, steph was the best player for the warriors in 3 of 4 games, KD was only better in 1 game but got finals MVP because he had more PPG.
Now lebron is winning FMVP because of his performance spread even though steph had a higher PPG and was more impactful in the more important/competitive game.
People would look at this olympics and remember it for those steph performances rather than anything lebron did. Anytime they think of the 2024 Olympics, the conversation would be based on what Steph did.....
That's why consistency is key grin You can't be shite for 4 games and then show up in the last two and expect to win MVP.
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93:
We don't need to show off against Sudan and Puerto Rico. Not important. As someone rightly said my guy doesn't carry this team through those two games your guy comes up short and ends up with a Bronze. cheesy grin

I actually watched the interview again and the World Champs rant came out of nowhere. It wasn't like He was asked questions pertaining to that subject or NBA players were making fun of Him beforehand. Bizarre!

I think He is banking on the saying "There is no such thing as bad publicity" so people will watch either to cheer for him or "hate watch" a la Floyd Mayweather. However I don't know how long that will last. If you are not Usain Bolt, no one is tuning in in their droves to watch you I'm afraid.

When they tried to make it about basketball and experience was when I knew they were full of shyte. Especially when they had taken the #1 pick to the 3 previous Olympics and none of them had Caitlin's individual achievements or was #1 all-time scorer

If Taurasi was still playing at top level like LeBronze that would be understandable but she's not which made the concept of taking her along laughable

Arike and the older Ogunmike babe and Nigeria would have been cooking. Who knows maybe a semi-finals appearance

The way I see it they must be content being a niche socialist league with their hands out asking for money they've not earned. I strongly doubt they are serious about real growth and actually making profits organically. You watch their guard play and that wonky offense and you're telling me Caitlin doesn't help.

I tuned out of their league after Maya Moore retired. Caitlin had me somewhat interested again and what's stood out to me is not even her shooting but her passing. I have no doubt she would average 15asts a game easy on that team.

Now with a shorter 3pt line imagine she has a game with a Steph like performance. The kind of buzz and boost globally it would have given their product like Barca 92 Dream Team.

The uncomfortable truth is nobody is going to be tuning to games to watch Aja Wilson, Breanna or Griner. Casual fans are not trying to see women that can't dunk or possess real athleticism

They're likelier to watch a woman that can shoot from the logo like dudes and lead a fast break at warp speed.
I just saw someone say DT only scored 6 points through the Olympics which I would have to confirm. If that's true that's pathetic.

People have been calling it the Activist league over the past few days because of the new case with dearica that just hit the league. Basically a case of Do as I say not Do as I do.

I remember when an NBA player suggested they lower the rim to help with dunking and they almost murdered the Guy on various forms of social media. Since then, players have learnt to keep criticisms to themselves and simply shower them praise instead.

The Old guards in the league need to realise the newer generation spearheaded by Caitlin Clark are the ones bringing eyeballs to league. They better relinquish the grip they have or they'll get left behind in no time.

Steady986, you are terrible at this trolling thing. What are you showing me NFL numbers for? So 90M+ people still watched sports during the lockdown? Why did you posit it as an excuse for Lebron? grin

This is a serious own goal.

The man just comes across to me as a socially awkward dork. Aura is aura. Them no need force am. The rant was just cry for attention.

If they say their NBA and Superbowl winners are World champs you sef do league for your country and call the winners World Champs. Nobody hold your hand. I can't be arsed to argue with anyone that thinks some team somewhere in the world would beat Mahomes and the Chiefs and we have to do a competition to be sure. I have better things do with my time

See how he was jumping like kangaroo before that 200m race only to finish 3rd and then fake like he had Covid.

Certain people you feel should be the most secure in the world turn out to be the most insecure. It's a very strange phenomenon
Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 11:51pm On Aug 14, 2024
People taking this Tatum thing too serious. His skillset is not what was needed. Just move on abeg, I dont see why the continued focus. They should play you and lose? Teague talking about, get me 5 minutes. Make lead widen? Did you really think because you won the last NBA championship you are now in the same category as lebron or curry or embiid? Are you better than KD or even Edwards? lol

People in the media and other people on SM also played along with the lie that she was left off for basketball reasons. I don't know what is it with people these days and how they just try to lie to your face.

The problem is it's fans, the players that run the league all have that Marxist mindset. They've never had to actually make profit to stay in business that's why most of their conversations is always centered round money they've not earned.

The Hamby woman is not a rainbow gang member so I'm not surprised she's gotten shoddy treatment. If she was scissors FC no chance she's mistreated like that

Well they have two options. Either leverage their superstar or go back to flying coach, going to Russia to rendezvous with Vlad Vlad or deliver Uber Eats in the off-season.

If you know how to read stats properly, you'd see that there was a drop in viewership in the COVID years. But I'm sure you saw that.

100M watched the NFL same time you are given excuses for why 7.5M watched Lebron who supposedly is the crowd puller?

Na you bring the NFL numbers.
Yet you still don't know it effectively proves an extra 5M people could have watched your man during the lockdowns. LOL

Only 1 common factor in the NBA numbers though = GSW.

There's something genuinely refreshing about Anthony Edwards showing such appreciation for his Olympics experience. It's great to see him openly expressing how much it meant to play alongside other greats.
So many fans deprived themselves the joy of watching some of these guys play. Spent all their time hating (imagine someone saying now they understand the Steph hype and we still got some comparing Steph to Brunson).
If you like, continue arguing over one yeye MVP trophy, glazing over some irrelevant stats. These guys would retire some day. E go clear for your eye.

There is no way 300+lb was sustainable for an NBA player. Especially one that likes to be explosive. Hopefully this leads to an injury free year. Or at least he can bounce back quicker.
