In discipline and character modeling, there's no wrong in trying multiple methods and everyone has his/her part to play. It's a method which I think, even if it doesn't work on all of them. It will definitely be effective on some. So it's a good one

Gone are the days when there were students who spent days and nights studying assiduously before an exam........I remembered how many times I visited my town library prior to my preparation for waec..............These days,the advent of social media don finally kill the zeal of hardwork in students..........Go to TikTok, you'll weep for the kind of damage social media is doing on the present and next generation....Not only our educational system,but the entirety of our society is fast decaying and people now seem to find joy in it...

This won't work because those children are grown. They will always hide to use phones.Carrot and stick approach should be applied here.
Limit their time usage of phone, and once they go against it deny them that thing they love more. Gradually they will adjust.
