Lol @ don't burn yourself

How safe is a pressure cooker? Have heard stories of them exploding and all...

Just need kitchen equipment that'll make life easier
I have both an electric one and old school one. The electric one is "safer" I guess because it won't even allow you to open it until it's decompressed if that helps. The traditional one is a lot bigger for large quantities that's why I have both.

Dinner:

Jollof rice, baked blackened (tried store cajun mix) chicken, and coleslaw.
I figured some of you guys might like this. I don't buy spice blends from the store any more since I found this cheat sheet and honestly, way better than store bought because you can tweak to find your perfect ratios and it's cheaper if you already have all these at home (which I suspect quite a few of you do). Also, always buy your spices at the Asian market if you can. Much cheaper and way fresher/potent.

Chicken laps for days!

Been a minute here.
Late night dinner. Noodles, potatoes and fried beef. Tasted heavenly 😋

How to cook:
Cut the raw beef into tiny bits. Season and allow to marinate.
Blend tomatoes, pepper and onions.
Fry the beef, then add onions, and the blended mix. Add indomie seasoning, crayfish, etc. fry very well, then add water. Cover for a minute or two, then add your noodles and the baked potatoes. Cover and allow to cook for another minute or two. Then turn the noodles over to allow to cook well. Add additional water sparingly if needed, and cover for another minute or two.
If you're not married, you definitely need a good wife asap. 😐

Please, anyone that has used rice cooker, I get question

Can the rice cooker be used to prepare meals like stew, soup, meat stock, e.t.c, or is it just for preparing rice and boiling egg?

I'll like to know the other meals it can be used to prepare

Also, for those that make doughnuts at home, how do you know when "e don don enter"? (Don't really know how to put it in proper English... How will you know that e don don... You know, to avoid opening the doughnut to find out that the inside is still raw dough)

Thank you
Look. Almost like my phone was eavesdropping on my online conversation because this ad just popped up now as soon as I opened Amazon to order something else. 🤔👀

Okra is a quick fix na. Just blend, pour inside pot, add salt, black pepper and allow it cook. Soup requires time to boil different meat and season them, adding the palm oil and waiting for it to cook, making the oatmeal paste, adding it to the soup and waiting for it to cook, washing the vegetables etc. It requires some planning.

Thanks. I bought the cajun seasoning because I have heard too much of it from Food Show Network thus, I figured I should try it.

That's stew and there was some in the fridge. I usually wouldn't eat soup with stew although I know some people do.

Good evening all, hope your day went well?

I've been following this page for quite some time now, and I must confess, this page is truly a friendly and 'foody' place.

I've always been fascinated by the amount of maturity shown here and the delicacies being displayed as well, to the extent that I subscribed to Gloryhomemaker's YouTube page and have been enjoying every bit of her culinary expertise.

Also, not to forget other "kitchen gurus" here with impeccable cooking skills like...Mariangeles, GboyegaD, Cococandy, Halcyon123, just to name a few.

Oh God Almighty, how I want to practice some of the food you guys have displayed here, but Naija will not allow me.

However, I am writing here for the sole purpose of requesting for help.

Things have become hard for virtually everyone in the country to a large extent, so, I'm seriously having money issues and attending to family needs has become an herculean task.

In simple terms, I'm broke.

Please note, I'm not asking for money or food stuffs, not at all. I'm asking if there is anyone here who is engaged in any online business, who can show me the ropes on how to make a little headway online.

It's tough for me right now, if there's anyone here who is willing to help, please indicate if possible.

Thanks and I'm sincerely sorry for derailing this beautiful thread.

May God help us all.

I’ve had my pressure cooker for years with no issues. The pressure only comes on when it’s on the pressure cooking mode. You’re not supposed to open it until it’s done decompressing. When it’s on the setting for slow cooker, rice cooker, sautéing etc there’s no pressure.

Alternatively, you can look into a slow cooker if you’re worried about the pressure in pressure pots. Had one for years as well and it’s very handy for things like beans, slow cooked ribs and soups (oyibo style). Just put all the ingredients in at once, close it and go to work. Everything will be ready by the time you get back.

But our typical Nigerian meals are best made stove top. Because of their deep flavor profiles, they can be complex and their various ingredients need different cooking times.
Thank you for taking your time to explain

Saw the other mention concerning Amazon... That one will be quite expensive as it also does the work of an air fryer... Kind of an all-in-one equipment... "gbogbotigbo"... Lol

Haven't seen it in the stores I've visited sha... I'll most likely go for the pressure cooker

@radautoworks, think I'll just go for the electric, due to the fact that there won't really be any need to babysit it unlike the manual... Although I'll have to confirm from her first, as I saw where you wrote the manual cooks larger meal

Thanks @ all... I'm grateful

Re: Cook In Your Kitchen, Take Pictures And Post It Here. SIMPLE! by cococandy(f): 8:40pm On Sep 03, 2024
You’re welcome. Yea when I saw it, I thought I should mentioned it because it seemed to me that you wanted a kind of equipment that can do multiple tasks all in one.

In fact I think I might give it a try myself since I’m going to be in Germany temporarily and I can’t take my kitchen gadgets with me. This might solve the problem of trying to get a new air fryer, rice cooker, pressure cooker, slow cooker etc.

If I do, I’ll let you know if it’s worth it.
