Kirk Franklin, the renowned American gospel artist, believes marriage is unnecessary to receive God's favour. In a recent episode of 'The Funky Friday Podcast,' the 54- year-old choir director criticized the expectation in many religious communities that singles must marry to be considered spiritually whole or blessed. The Grammy- winning singer argued that this pressure often results in hasty choices and unhealthy relationships. Franklin emphasized that personal development, spiritual growth, and living out one's purpose hold more significance than marital status.

He said, "Any woman listening to this can attest to our culture: 'Don't be no 30, 35 single black women and go to the family reunion.' All the older women are going to look at you and be like, 'Why are you not married?' It is like a prerequisite for identity and value. If you don't have a man or kids, then something about you is broken. Do you understand how dysfunctional these messages are?"

It is not just Christians, society in general. You have to be VERY STRONG to withstand the pressure to marry when you're of age but not yet ready or haven't found the right person

religion/society/culture etc are all part of this whole marriage agenda, as if it is a life achievement and/or it will make someone's life better.
