Omor that Chinyere Kalu drop was were his failure started from, like she isn’t injured. Was one of the best player in the League last season. Did scored important goals from set pieces to help Nasarawa Amazon in the League..

She plays for him at club level right? smh.

That midfield is so light weight...The attack is none existent... Most of the attackers he's fielded are more like AM's....But lack any technical skills...

The Players who were all good at the last World Cup (Flourish, Ajakaye, Imuran, The CBs, Alani etc ) seem lost despite being experienced at this stage. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Yes, even the 2002 and 2016 teams, which failed to advance beyond the group stages, were far better than these girls in technic and football intelligence.

However outside of Rinsola which other player in our pool of players was Randy supposed to have called up that you think didn't make the list? That is the question you should answer which is the point I'm making. We historically have pools of players to always pick from from our age grade teams but the last few sets haven't really delivered. How many players have graduated into the Super falcons from our age grade teams in the last 6 years? How many of those who played u17 just a few years ago are in the current u20 teams. Even people like Ajakaye and Flourish aren't doing well professionally. The NFF keeps appointing incompetent coaches in Danjuma and Olowoekere and we've never had it this bad. So there's a systemic problem.

Imagine for a second what the Super Falcons will look like without JOE, Payne sisters, Ashleigh, Alozie etc. So when I say we have a personnel problem I'm saying we are lacking in a pool of talent to pick from. Of course I think Randy should have invited Rinsola and blame him for it but in general we have a personnel problem.

I am bringing this back again because just a few weeks ago when I said this, a few persons were arguing without substance. Is the point I'm making now clear?

You can't build national teams in isolation. It requires intentionality and planning from the ground up. What we've seen however, particularly with our age grade teams have been incompetent backroom staff leading to either poor development of talented players or inculcating poor players into the team or both. When I said Randy had a personnel problem as there's a small pool of players he could pick from, sadly due to poor development of talents at the home front, this tournament just proves it.

Now that Randy is no longer coach, I hope that we can at least introspect, and not think these things were said to hold brief for Randy, but see the sad state women's football in Nigeria is in.

Solution?

If the NFF isn't ready to take ages grade football seriously, particularly in the appointment of sound coaches, then the next super falcons coach mustn't just be better than Randy, but must be one who is not only employed full-time, but is required to be resident is Nigeria to enable them scout for talents themselves.

And I hope this tournament at least puts to rest the delusional takes from those people who keep bringing up Ajakaye, Flourish etc whenever the Super Falcons is being discussed. These girls couldn't even make a statement at an u20 competition.

This is not an indictment on the girls as I believe there's talent there. They just need a lot more work than many of you think.

Here is a session that we used in our preparation for the World Champions Spain.

This was popular with my community; Coach2Coach. So I thought I’d share it here.

At the Olympics you play every 3 days so there is no real time to prepare. 

We played Brazil in the opening game, the next day is recovery, and then the next day is Match Day -1. 
 
On Match Day -1 we used this activity to prepare. 

We knew they would have the ball as they are the best in the world. So we wanted to be disciplined in our defending, and play off the counter attack. 

We hoped to at least get a point, unfortunately they scored off of a free kick in the 86th minute. 

But our team executed the plan very well, and in fact we had 4-5 really good opportunities to score.
 
We wanted to play in a 4-5-1 formation when the ball was in central areas. 

When the ball went into the wide areas we wanted to play in a 5-4-1 to help avoid the overloads they create in those areas. 

So this is how we did it. 

Remember this is match day -1 so it was a walk through type session with some activation transition added at the end.

Being a good player doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be a good coach. Its a different ball game entirely..If it works that way, Some of these big names should be one by now....Some Ex players have done well in that aspect and we have top coaches right now who weren't top players.

With the amount of players Europe produces every year, how many ex players has successfully transitioned to being great coaches?

It's not about the continent...Ability to manage and lead is personal. To be a top player and a top coach is cool but not everyone has that luxury!

By the way what has our Ex-internationals been doing till date to up their Coaching game?

Basco, don't be too much in a hurry to be differ. Id you read the post I made before this, I clearly put much of the blame on the incompetence of the coach. There were 2 categories of players I highlighted, those who obviously have potentials that bad coaching couldn't help and those who made the team because a bad coach picked them. The aforementioned are a part of the former.

It however doesn't change the point I made, these girls just aren't ready. Ajakaye who signed for Madrid CFF is yet to make her debut, but somehow she started from the bench for most of the competition. Flourish Sebastian who signed for Reims hardly gets on the team. Yet many clamour for her to make the Super Falcons team, isn't that delusional?

Also Chiamaka Nnadozie and that is my point. The team gave us all these players but were thrash in the competition. It is ridiculous to judge a player off of wins and loses when their coach is dumpster juice.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has clarified recent claims concerning the status of senior women’s national team head coach, Randy Waldrum, Nigeria Football can exclusively confirm.

Contrary to rumours of a resignation on Friday morning, the NFF confirms that coach Waldrum’s contract has expired following the conclusion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.


A senior official of the NFF, speaking anonymously to NigeriaFootball.ng, explained: “Coach Randy Waldrum did not resign from his position. His contract with the NFF was set to expire after the 2024 Olympic Games, which have now concluded.


“We are appreciative of his contributions to Nigerian football and the Super Falcons.” During his almost four-year reign as Falcons head coach, Waldrum guided the Super Falcons to the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and broke a 16-year drought by qualifying the team for the Olympics.

“The NFF is now focusing on finding a new head coach who will build on the solid foundation established under Coach Waldrum’s tenure,” the official continued.
“We thank him for his commitment and service to Nigerian football and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

With Waldrum’s contract now concluded following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is making strategic plans to appoint a new head coach for the Super Falcons.

This transition provides the NFF ample time to carefully scout for a suitable replacement ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco, from July 5–26, 2025.
