The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has redeployed CP Tunji Disu to the Federal Capital Territory as the substantive police commissioner.

Tunji Disu, who was appointed as the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State in November 2023, will be replaced by the Delta State police commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda.

According to a signal obtained by SaharaReporters on Tuesday, CP Peter Opara has been redeployed to Delta State.

The signal reads in part, "INGENPOL HAS ORDERED THE REDEPLOYMENT OF THE FOLLOWING COMMAND COMPOLS X FROM COMPOL RVS TO COMPOL FCT X COMPOL DISU OLATUNJI RILWAN X FROM COMPOL DTS TO COMPOL RVS X COMPOL ABANIWONDA S. OLUFEMI X FROM COMPOL FCT TO COMPOL DTS X COMPOL PETER U. OPARA X POSTING IS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT 'MOST/IMMEDIATE.”

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission had approved the appointment of CP Peter Opara as substantive Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory command, Abuja.

Opara was to replace CP Benneth Igweh who led a riotous administration in the FCT and has since been promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

He was posted to Zone 7 Abuja as the Zonal Assistant Inspector General of Police.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, to journalists in Abuja on Friday.

SaharaReporters had reported that the Police Service Commission approved the appointment of four substantive commissioners of police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom state commands.

The appointments followed the recent promotion of some senior police officers by the Commission which created vacancies in some state commands, according to the statement signed by Ani.

The new commissioners are Isah Danladi Nda, Abia State Command; Olarewaju Ishola Olawale, Lagos State Command; Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya, Ebonyi State Command and Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Akwa Ibom State Command.

When a CP is trying to lay things on ground and before you know it...a new one is brought on board.....how can the police work this way,when the one that was on ground can not carry out his job fully before he is being removed
