My 20s no complete without street football.. very fun


I remember one type of game back then called "Lagos game" if you score a goal, you can remove one player.. after removing all the players, you play penalty and get six points.. then the process continues.

Probably this was for the rich kids....


We never had the luxury to play with this bladder as we fondly call it.

But then, 4pm was fixed matches...... If you miss, you wait to form a group!

I used to go to LUTH those days with my friends to play ball. They had a standard football pitch. And since the doctors there didn't have time to make use of it, we who knew about it converted into our personal home pitch.

All the scars on my legs was gotten on that pitch. I missed playing football.

On Saturday and Sunday morning, it is number a number card. The first 22 will make two teams to play the first set within the allotted time frame. Subsequent numbers will play second set and so on.

If dem patch you this "bladder" for empty stomach, you'll see stars.

During school holidays, I just don't know where we get strength to play football from 9am to 6.30pm.

I hardly see children play ball under the sun these days.

Children of nowadays no just strong at all. Small sun or rain, they go run commot for pitch. Indomie generation for a reason!

Na mostly men from unhappy home wey their wife dey show dem shege and unmarried wicked aunties dey chase boys from playing football back then.

While men from happy family dey buy ball for boys.

Size 5 was too big. Size 4 was the real deal. Only goalkeepers love size 5. keeping the ball on the floor was a no no. We never joked with its net.

Rules playing this ball especially if nah u get am street football
1. If you get this ball you can never be substituted, you get to play all turn until u get tired 😂

2. When the owner of the ball is tired, game ends he carry his ball and go home

3. If you tackle the owner of the ball too hard, he. May ask the ref to remove and replace you with another player 😂

4. If the ball mistakenly played into someone's gated compound, everyone collectively goes to beg for the ball to be given back if not, if the owner of the balls goes alone, he goes home with his ball 😂

5. The sweetest time to play this ball nah when rain dey fall, omo the feeling is outa this world 😊😂.

This wicked uncle and aunties sabi seize this ball, they hate seeing children play, me I played like kilode when I was little, and it give me joy now to see kids play around my neighborhood, because it brings back memories, I wonder who will hate to see kids play around, but sadly enough, kids these days are only focused on doing yahoo and stuck with social media 🤷
