MTN 1year Data Plan No Longer Sharable by Raltrending(op):
I did an MTN 100k 1TB less than 2months ago on 4 Sim Cards, Totalling N400,000 investment.

I woke up this Morning with a message from my Sister who i encourage to do MTN 1year 1TB of N100k telling me she got a message that she could no longer Transfer her less than 1month old subscription.

She contacted MTN and they sent her these message which i have attached below.

And according to this Nairaland post on July of 2024, they have tried it before. It was eventually reversed after backlash from customers and NCC when they made the announcement official.

https://www.nairaland.com/8148017/mtn-subscribers-lament-data-sharing

Less than 2months later, they have broken the shareability agreement 1year TB again. I have confirmed this, as i have not be able to share data from any of my 4 sim cards since today.

This time its as if they are keeping it a Secret, that is why a bringing the attention of. Nigerians and NCC to this...lets blow this up

Stop throwing away your money on mtn. Get Starlink if you can or Airtel 20k monthly unlimited plan. I gave MTN a try before switching and figured that are just looking for ways to milk their customers. They zap their data faster than any other network in Nigeria while not being faster than them. This is my personal experience with them. Lord forbid I ever browse with them ever in my lifetime.

@op take this advice seriously. You can start with Airtel unlimited 20. MTN has cast.

Since you can share with anyone

They could as well get airtel

Secondly if it's a home

Buy a starlink

You can do more than 5 terabyte on starlink for 38 k

Not sure there is any provider with such an offer in Nigeria

Seems mtn is also feeling the heat from tinubulation...

Earlier this week, they increased their 5G router price from 60k to 80k. Everybody will feel the effect of the great Tinubu-lation.

You are right! MTN MIFI is now 15k from 10k
Re: MTN 1year Data Plan No Longer Sharable by Obviouslyblunt: 2:34pm On Sep 22, 2024
It’s not just about increasing Mifi price and router price, MTN company is just insatiably greedy. Before I got fed up and ported to Starlink, this was my experience. I knew already that buying new sim cards made you eligible for double data on any data you buy, up to 5000 naira data. I bought mtn 5500 naira data for 20gb which was doubled to 40gb and put it into my router and started browsing. I’m a heavy data user so I knew it wouldn’t stay up to 1 month. The mtn data was not that fast but manageable. This data lasted only 8 days and got exhausted. Confused, I thought it was a mistake and bought another 5500 naira data for another 20gb which was doubled again. 8 days same thing. I went and bought a new Glo SIM card. I was expecting a double data and I did the plan for 5000 naira which just gave me 20gb of data. I was pissed but used it. Glo was almost same speed with MTN but a bit slower. This 20gn data lasted 9 days. Now remember, mtn 40gb was 8 days while Glo 20gb was 9days. Same usage cos I’m a very heavy data usage. I left Glo cos it didn’t double the data and decided to buy 9mobile. Bought the sim, but activating the data on it was a pain in the ass cos it always said “FAILED” whenever I tried subscribing. I got their customer care to help me activate the data of 22gb for 5000 as I had already recharged my line. They did and this doubled to 44gb. Now this is the funny thing, 9mobile was very fast in browsing, anything you clicked on opened instantly. YouTube could stream on 4k without breaking. I guess this was because they didn’t have much customers. Now this is the funny interesting thing. This data lasted me for 2weeks and about 3days. Note, I’m a very heavy data user. I deduced that mtn is just greedy and their data algorithm was just centralized on greed.

Now let me break it down

Mtn 40gb- 8 days
Glo 20gb - 9days
9mobile 44gb - 17 days.

Conclusion, unless there is a good reason to use MTN for browsing, stay away from them. Till today, I have 9mobile in my phone for browsing when I’m outside the house and I use Starlink when at home.

Nice one 👍👍👍

I understand one can share maximum of 5gb daily. Please what is the data limit one can share from this 1TB package in a month?

Also, is there a limit to the number of beneficiaries I can share data with?

You can only make a total of 10 shares per month.

This applies to new subscribed bundles.
Means when you exhaust your present data bundle, the new policy will apply.

This may not be entirely true.

It seems it is only 10 shares you can make irrespective of the amount you share each time.
But if you are sharing exactly 5GB per day, then yes, 50GB is possible per month.

I will leave you to your own interpretation
As for me, I'm done with sharing.
