Shut up abegy you dey call person way worked his ass to build a foundation in your city a slave ?? Your so called ancestors migrated there too and became a settler that built up the foundation till this very moment. Anti immigration my ass stupid myopic people.
The first person to get to a place is the rightful owner of it . They have deeper connection and they have no where else to run to if bad things happen.

If migrants know they're migrants and are not laughing at their "benefactors" and threatening to chase their king away ,maybe they won't use slave analogy to define them .

It's only a fool that will see UK or Sweden or France stance on migration that will not know what is going on in the world.

Lagos indigenes have said they don’t have a problem with Igbos, but they do have a problem with people from neighboring states claiming Lagos to be theirs and trying to sideline the indigenes and determine who stays in Lagos.

As in, Lagosians were accommodating enough to attract people from all over the country and beyond, but some people who also moved to Lagos from neighboring states are now claiming Lagos and scaring away other dwellers with their obnoxious behaviors

I didn’t make this up. It’s on the news
So fe gbo - as in,do you wanna know? I'm not just a Lagosian,I'm a Blueblood - an heir to the throne in Isale Eko; I'm an Eshugbayi Eleko, and I have problems with you igbos! The "Atohunrinwa" claiming to be indigenes of Lagos must be fooling you idiots from the land of primitive, forest-dwelling ancestors to believe that you're welcome here; no, you're not!

I have said it before and I'm here repeating it again: we,the true "Omo Eko" would rather have a Yoruba from Okitipupa or Iragbiji holding a political posts or positions here in Lagos than allowing you igbos from the land of primitive, forest-dwelling ancestors turning our ancestral land to a no man's land with your greedy land grabbing agenda! That era of everybody is welcome is gone forever - we know better now! We have our eyes on every single one of you here in Lagos. You can't hate Yoruba and claim to love Lagos State - Lagos is Yoruba and Yoruba is Lagos.

At least,I share common ancestry and heritage with the Yorubas from any part of Yoruba land;I don't have anything in common with the Igbos. So,wetin you dey talk here,Chinedu?! Your stupid obsession with Lagos will only trigger us to make your stay here quite difficult!

Sure, lagos is the property of the Yorubas.

That the Yorubas even get worked up on this non-issue is bewildering.
It's the property of the Lagosians!

Because of the Federal capital status it enjoyed and still enjoying today, every other Nigerians made it their home. The term no man's land does not mean it does not belong to anybody but it means anybody can live and belong to Lagos.
I don't understand why yorubas from oyo, osun, ekitu, ondo and Kwara always get worked up when they hear that phrase. I have true lagosian friends that don't give a flyingfuck about that saying.

The Kosokos are descendants of Olofin . Olofin became the "first" settlers of Lagos . They're the aworis . The Olokun Semiade(real person) control all the islands(I think his descendants are the Mobas that use silver crown ) .Later on ,other Yoruba tribes migrated to Lagos to settle on uninhabited lands . Not to even mention of other cities that were added from Ogun State.

Only empty barrels make the most noise ,no matter the size of the land you buy ,there's still a revocation clause after 99 years .

No matter how nationalised a migrant is in Europe or America, they will still tag you with your origin .

Also,US and Europe are pro anti migration now which we can witness in the last UK riot because the "migrants" don't know their level .

There's a saying that if slave stay too long ,he will want to become king .
Most people don't understand the 99 years revocation clause. They think it's freehold land.

grin Of course Lagos is part and parcel of Yoruba land, but my foolish brethren from the SE would be all over idiotically claiming it's no man's land.

This matter is dead and buried, but I bet some agbado buffoons still hold on to it because of the propaganda value it generates during elections.

The funny thing is that they pretend not to know that Pa Lateef Jakande the former Governor of Lagos State was the one who primarily made that statement. Why are we Yorubas not insulting Jakande?

I expect the agbadorians to bring up the issue again in 2027 prior to elections for propaganda and 'Ronu' galvanization.

Even inside Ogun state, an ijebu man living in Abeokuta can NEVER say Abeokuta is a "no man's land "........Awujale of Ijebuland and his Chiefs will summon the Ijebuman and sanction him "Quickly".

No SANE Tribe will allow their Tribeman to insult another Tribe or land.. ..in fact I have never hears of any Ethnic group utter such statement except these Easterners.

And their elders "encourage" these statements......What are they running FROMhuh

Lagos is in Yoruba land. But there are Yorubas who r indigenous to Lagos. But now all Yorubas il say they own Lagos? Well that is for them to settle amongst themselves. Igbos, Hausas, efiks, Edos , other tribes in Lagos need to try n develop their regions, so this argument of no man land can end. If u start now in the next 30 to 50 yrs ur children can settle in their regions n leave Lagos for it's owners . Investing in Lagos il still bring ur children to start the same fight about no man's land or not.

The Lagos indigenes who made the statement have been bold enough to form an organization, go to the media and make themselves known and public, but you hide behind a keypad to spew vile tribal bigotry.

If you're what you claim you are, go to the media and make yourself known and state your grievances with peace loving Igbos there. Don't do it here like a coward.

Is that clear?

I agree with the first part but the second part has extenuating circumstances to it. Lagos is cosmopolitan filled with different people not just Igbos. First I think it's wrong to assert that people don't want to hear Yoruba. I know a lot of non indigenes that sing Yoruba songs with gusto. Go to churches for example. Even at parties and clubs without knowing what they're singing sef. Yorubas sing Igbo songs too.
But I think it's arrogant to presume everyone should know your language simply because they are in your land. It happens a lot in government offices. You arrive and a government official goes into Yoruba and the takes offence when you admit you don't know the language. This goes to every tribe. Igbos do it. Hausas do it.
We should go back to the days of programs like WAZOBIA to promote an understanding of our languages and foster mutual respect and unity.
There you go again

Lagos is a Cosmopolitan City

I've been asking people around and I was not able to find around me and that's why I gladly asked you to mention and you can't tell me it's so impossible to find anyone in south east who was prominent that had free education from Awo we never knew about.

The most stories in the south west are filled with propaganda and falsehood and was generally hyped with their media advantage but thank God for the social media that is changing the narratives now.

. Well we've been building empires for millennials ,first in Ife empire and second is Oyo empire .

One of the ways to permanently claim a land is by military displacement or other methods which Lagos indigenes are trying to prevent.

Even if we are not one Nigeria ,we can love one another but not in a situation whereby someone is hoarding his food but want to finish another person's food then call him a fool to his face .

Yes, the Kosoko royal family are indigenes of Lagos Island (Eko Island) being direct descendants of the ruthless Oba Kosoko who was the King when the British Navy Squadrons bombarded Eko in the 1850 in a fierce bid to stop the slave trade and dethrone him and replace him with his uncle Oba Akintoye who was on the throne before.

It is not about Lagosians being accommodating.

It is simply the outcome of making any location the country's capital.
Same thing is happening in Abuja. The indigenes are there and welcome people from every part of the country.

If Enugu, Kogi, Jigawa or any State becomes the capital tomorrow, the indigenes have no choice than to welcome everyone else.

It is what it is. Not a divine trait of Lagosians

Can one go to Niger State to claim it's no man's land, or Anambra State to claim it's no man's land. Even though we are all one Nigeria, we have our diversities, cultures, and origin.

And that should be respected

Also ,note that we are not homogeneous and as human ,we tend to have preferences which is the basis of diversity/disunity .
