Vibration Of Engine When AC Is Turn On(Honda Accord 2011) by amtheone(op): 7:37pm On Sep 12, 2024
The engine of my Honda Accord 2011 vibrates seriously once I turn on the AC, especially in traffic and the gear is in DRIVE MODE.

The first mechanic suggested that (vacum) should be introduced and a technician was called to do that but still no result.

I took it again to another mechanic, he suggested that I should change the AC compressor to electronic type. According him, the one present is manual type. I have not change it yet.

Please what do you think could be the solution. Thank you.

your falcon is not working, falcon hold the slow of your car as it's when you turn on your AC. In the event the falcon is faulty , when you on the AC the slow will completely go down to 0 from 1 and it will make the car to be vibrating . 1 is normal setting for slow. So check if you on the AC at what number your slow is . Anything below 1 it will vibrate

Thank you Yarimo. Please can you expantiate more on the terminology. The falcon you mentioned here, is it a physical part that can be replaced. Is it something that can easily be fixed by a mechanic or a "re-wire" or by AC specialist.

Very easy to connect and it's very small object , it's connected with the compressor anytime your compressor pick it will automatically pick. It's rewire work and make sure the rewire have knowledge on AC. Some rewire don't have knowledge about ac . It's located within the back of engine. Just tell him to check the FALCON

Experienced similar issue, which also affected gear performance. Replacing the engine seatings fixed it.

The 2nd mech is right

That manual compressor puts too much load on the engine...

On the other hand, it is more tolerant to abuse to than the auto compressor

It can also be that your engine is weak, hence the noticable stress on it when AC is on...

Ok. Do you think by changing to electrical compressor will solve the issue? I don't want to buy the electrical compressor and the issue does not go away.

No online advice for a vehicle's mechanical issue has 100% guaranty..Nothing beats physical diagnosis by a qualified technician

I have simply pointed you to the areas you might want to look at to fix the issue

1 Replace manual compressor

2 check engine compression to know if it's weak or not.

Falcon,he meant thermostat for AC.its like 4k. Used to be 1500 under buhari

Manual or auto its the same voltage and work it does. Don't let manual or auto compressor nake u waste money. The major ish is either your spark plugs are dead, weak or your coils are bad. On a 4plug,with AC on your rpm should ve on 1000rpm,after engine reaches optimal temperature. Anything below 1k on idle or drive will stall your engine. Install the thermostat, tell the ac man,he knows what to do .they will connect it to your fuse under dashboard,so the ac thermostat cuts and picks,it's just like pressing iron without thermostat,it will burn all the clothes u place it on cos its not cutting and picking.

All honda accords till their 2011 version use a MANUAL COMPRESSOR from factory.

Don't allow any electrician mess your ride up in the name of cut and join ac undecided

Check your rear engine mount (6cyl)

Check your front engine mount (4cyl)

Also check their vacuum hose's (yes, there are actually vacuum hoses connected to those mounts mentioned above) and the switch that sends the vacuum through those hoses too. If the hoses are cut/not connected OR the solenoids that controls them are bad you will have vibrations no matter what you do

Also check that the compressor is well fixed and fasten to its position. That could solve it.

I was about saying this. Eight Generation Accord (2008-2012), infact ALL accords till 2012, have manual compressors. Reason why most hardly have A/c compressor issues.

@Corner44, maybe you could throw more light on the vacuum hoses connected to the front Engine Mount and how to identify if the solenoids that powers them are still working. That could solve the issue. (That is after inspecting the mounts and they are good)

On idle, even with the A/c on, the RPM should be at 750-800. Anything close to 1000 will consume more fuel. Anything below 600 will make the engine run rough and may stall.

My previous car was a sports car with engine of 2jz gte. The normal factory rpm is 1000rpm,if i buy 5 litres and i no turbo,e go carry me for almost 30km...well u see a 4plugs engine is weak on manual compressor.

Thanks for ur response. This is my first car, so I really don't understand most of the terms that you use. In fact even without turning on the ac, I could still feel the vibratio. It only increases once the ac is turned on. Maybe I will take the car to Oyingbo Honda Spare market hoping that they can fix the issue because.

Again, maybe the searchlight should be on the engine seat. I think my mechanice only check two of the engine seat(passenger and driver axis). I will ask him to check the front and rear seat

Take it there. They will fix it well for you.

When you get there call Tobi +2347089885601, he's an electrician sha but he has his team he works with.

Very competent fellow

The main ones to check are the front and the passenger side one (near power steering pump)

That other one can cause vibrating well well too but that front one is the main culprit.

But tokumbo front one with hydraulic oil still inside (put it to your ears and shake well to hear it) and yiu can buy new ones of the others.

Make sure the mechanic replacing the front mount plugs in the vacuum hose that connects into the port directly under it. Don't allow him just bolt it in and stand up. MAKE SURE THE HOSE IS CONNECTED

if you still have vibrations then the solenoid itself is probably bad. It is mounted right beside your injector railing ontop your engine (under the black plastic engine cover the passenger side adjacent/facing the ABS module )

Open the 2 10' bolts holding the plastic down and you should see it having 2 tiny pipes connected to it. One going directly into your intake manifold (behind it, on the left hand side when you're facing the engine) and the second o e running right down under your engine to your front engine mount.

I assume this is a 4cyl honda accord right? Check if all the hoses are connected sha

Yeah, it's a 4plug. Thank u for the detailed explanation. The only challenge is that I don't know most of these parts, but with time I will know them.
