Thanks Justwise, I was able to open a Monzo account for him. However, I doubt if visitors are allowed to open account in the uk and also if home office would expect a visitor to leave such an amount in his UK account and travel back to Nigeria.

Thanks, I was considering that but don't have an idea of what the transfer charges would be Since the money will still be moved back to the uk.

Check with your UK bank for the transfer charges, as the aim is to avoid converting to Naira and a depreciation when converting it back to Pounds.

I'm not sure that you have made a good decision there as your dad is not resident in the UK, domiciliary account is what you needed for your dad. Yes HO will question such account if used for visa application unless Monzo account is available to Nigerians living in Nigeria.

Thank you so much..I do apply for PhD in USA too but I haven't been lucky enough to get a a funded scholarship and most USA application comes with a fee. That makes it add paying application fees.. but I won't stop trying cuz I believe God's ve a plan for me to keep me this far

Have you been reading the US student's thread? You can try and reach out to those who got fully funded and ask how they did it or just make a comment and see who responds.

Just don't try use the account for home office

Good day everyone, my school resumes today and my visa is yet to be out... Although I mailed them yesterday and they responded that a decision has been made, that very soon I should get a mail for pick up of my passport.. Like I said my school resumed today and I heard resuming late reduces your chances of getting a post study visa... Pls who has an idea about this.

Although UKVI sent a mail that a decision has been made... I am just waiting for the Brp mail to know the outcome.

As long as you can prove you are a bonafide student.

Don't stress about that, you will get your passport soon and come over as your Uni has already informed you that decision has been made.

Right from your first day in the UK, begin to build a pathway that would increase your chances of being issued skilled worker visa once you are through with studies, not post study work visa.

For those newly arriving in the UK, pls help me with my questions:

What other documents are you expected to arrive with, apart from CAS and your passport?

Can I book a hotel without paying until I arrive?

How true is it that you can be asked to show your POF at the POE, if true do you show them afresh from your bank app OR you're expected to come with the most recent bank statement of that day??

Is there free WiFi at the airport, if not then how do you connect to the internet to show bank statement since you've not been cleared and stamped in before getting a SIM ??

Just go with all the documents you got toy visa with and ensure fund is available and know your course and school very well. Book atleast 5 days hotel and let them know you want to be on ground to be able to view the house you will be renting

Please if I have a loan confirmation letter from Prodigy finance that covers my total tuition fee, can I present it during my visa application alongside with POF for living expenses. How likely is it to get a successful visa application with this?

A candid advice will be appreciated

Ok in this case you only declare visa refusal, since you did not apply for any visa then you do not need to declare any in your visa application

Yes you can present it, but whether it will be successful or no is anybody's guess

That N18m is not even enough for maintenance, not to talk of tuition fees.

Not sure there is anything else you can present.

But there could be increased scrutiny of your POF.
