Yeah, Toyota Corolla was 1.2 million naira barely few years ago.

It shall never be well with Buhari and Tinubu, it shall never be well with their entire generations.

Free market = the right to choose.

If one source of energy doesn't satisfy you, sack it and switch to another one.

If one provider of energy doesn't satisfy you, sack it and switch to another one.

If one company doesn't satisfy you, sack it and switch to another one.

I intend going to Warri tomorrow morning to do this cng conversion, does the address you provided for Warri, does the CNG conversion? I really need that to know please, so I can be assured before hitting the road tomorrow morning.

This is elementary knowledge.

What false things did he post? U Mr man are encouraging people to convert through ur posts (whether subtly or not) or are you not? And I am definitely not against that; he asked a question whether u've changed urs to which you told him off; as one who posts constantly (I think it's safe to call you an ambassador for that i.e the CNG stuff) you are obliged to answer his question as you should not be advertising something you do not use (supposing u don't use it in this case)
naptu2:
Hahahahahahahahaha

Obviously you are not serious and I was simply waiting for you to prove it, which you just did.

You came here to rubbish the thread in any way you can. You used multiple accounts to post negative stuff in the hope of drawing me into an argument, but it didn't work. Then you quoted me and posted false things and tried to attribute them to me. That didn't work either.

Mr Man, it is clear to anyone with a brain that I have not forced anyone to convert. Ranting and raving won't change that.

The good thing is that, unlike you, I DON'T GIVE A Bleep!

You can continue to rant, post negative stuff, etc, I couldn't care less.

If you continue to mention me, I shall simply use you for my entertainment.

Having said that, you can have a nice life, I won't read your posts any more because you have nothing sensible to post.

I didn't read what you wrote with your Incredible128 account, but that goes for it too.
Re: Inside The CNG Conversion Journey In Lagos by Incredible128: 8:29pm On Oct 04, 2024
Don't you see it's getting popularity for the wrong reasons? If someone goes through this thread do you think he would still want to convert his car? Seeing that even the CNG ambassador hasn't even done his and is telling people off for asking

This toy is a good toy. The previous toy ran away without completing his task. It was a simple task, get the thread to 3 pages, but he ran away without accomplishing it.

This toy is a good toy. He came and said that the thread is a promotion, yet he is helping me to promote it by increasing the numbers. He has already accomplished the task of taking it to 3 pages, the next task is to get to 18,000 views. He is even using multiple accounts to achieve the target, even after being banned. So he's very good, but I hope he won't run away before accomplishing it.

Re: Inside The CNG Conversion Journey In Lagos by naptu2(op): 8:20am On Oct 05, 2024
People make a lot of ridiculous posts and say ridiculous things, but I don't mind, because it is part of the entertainment. I was entertained on this thread when I saw troll accounts gathering, I was entertained when I saw them employing various strategies to get my attention and I began laughing when I saw them get frustrated (because they couldn't get a response from me) and then decide to address me directly.

The question about whether I have converted my car is an irrelevant one. I could say yes and I could say no and there's no way that anybody can verify that what I say is true. I will not answer it because nobody decides for me what I will post. I control them (they are my toys), they don't control me.

They then tried to rile me up by claiming that I am trying to convince people, when, as others have said, I never tried to convince anyone. Why would I even try to convince anyone of anything? That's simply a waste of time.

Once upon a time I posted about the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge. I could see it because it is in my neighbourhood. It was being constructed at the time. Some people claimed that nothing was being built and that it was a scam. I argued with them. Now I wonder what was the point of the argument. The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge is right there and everybody is using it. I can bet that the people that argued on Nairaland that it was a scam are also using it.

Once upon a time, President Goodluck Jonathan restarted the modernisation of the railways. A deal was done with GE, new locomotives, coaches and wagons were bought, the narrow gauge line was rehabilitated and work began on the standard gauge Abuja-Kaduna line and the Abuja metro. I posted about them, but people came to argue that it was a scam and that GEJ was my paymaster. Today everybody can see the Abuja-Kaduna railway service and the Abuja Metro.

Once upon a time work began on the Lagos-Ibadan rail line. This time the arguments were not only online. Offline a friend of mine was arguing that there was no work going on because he used the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and he couldn't see any rail work going on. Meanwhile, everybody knows that the rail lines (both old and new) do not pass that route. Today everybody can see the Lagos-Ibadan rail line.

There were similar arguments about the Second Niger Bridge (a friend was sharing pictures to prove that there was no bridge and that claims that there was a bridge was a lie), the Blue Line, etc.

What is the point of arguing about such things? What is the point of arguing about such things? What will be will be, whether you argue about it or not. I am not interested in convincing anyone about anything. They are adults and can think for themselves. I simply provide information for those who need it. Use it if you want, don't use it if you don't want, that is none of my business.

The funniest issue is the case of people that think that Nairaland changes anything. There have been very many things that have been popular on Nairaland and yet flopped in the real world. There have also been many things that have been unpopular on Nairaland and yet succeeded in the real world, so why should I be bothered about your unimportant opinion on nairaland? That's your personal problem and I couldn't care about it.

The fact is that over 90% of vehicles that are used in Nigeria are imported and there is energy competition in the vehicle producing countries. Some countries have even enacted laws that will ban internal combustion engine in a few years. So where will we get our vehicles from and what type of vehicles will we use?

So you see, I don't care about convincing you about anything, the only thing that you are good for is entertaining me and I shall use you for my entertainment.

Imagine CNG that is 200 is now 450
@Oluwaseyi0

What city are you located in? This alleged increase is hard to believe because the NNPC CNG refill stations are still selling CNG at N200 per standard cubic feet of CNG.

The first ever NNPC CNG refill station in Lagos State opened on May 30, 2024 with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in attendance and based off of what I've read and seen online, private car owners and truck drivers who use dual CNG PMS fuels in their vehicles have been very happy because of the major cost-savings made in using the CNG fuel over the use of the more costly PMS.

The truth is that the above cost from these firms are quite outrageous. You can do your CNG conversion at NIPCO stations for NGN750,000 for 4 cylinder engine with 55kg tank and NGN775,000 for 65kg tank. 6 cylinder cars with 65kg tank cost about NGN815,000.
NIPCO. That's a very useful info you gave right there.

The reason that I didn't bother responding to that post is because the issue was addressed right inside the first article. There are 2 sets of companies that are involved in this CNG programme, you have (1) energy companies that sell CNG and (2) you have car and engineering companies that carry out conversions.

One of the engineering companies stated that it sells CNG for 450, but that is because it buys it from an energy company. It was also stated that other companies sell CNG for around 200 to 250.

One of the key reasons for switching to CNG is its lower cost compared to petrol or diesel. With PMS prices soaring, CNG offers a more affordable option. At MBH Power Limited, CNG is sold for N480 per Standard Cubic Meter (SCM).

“We sell at this price because we buy from Falcon Gas at N450 per SCM,” Chandra explained.

Joseph added that CNG costs between N230 and N260 per SCM at other stations in Lagos. He also noted that CNG has a higher-octane rating than petrol, leading to improved performance, fewer carbon deposits on the engine, and better emissions.
Basically, as I wrote somewhere else on the thread, it is a free market. If one company sells at a price that you don't like, sack it and go to another company.

@Naptu2,

Succinctly stated.

I appreciate the EXTRA clarifications you've made here. it's a free market like you've stated and people have a right of choice to patronize whoever they want for their CNG supplies.

In the final analysis, since there's a national emergency OR sense of urgency by the governments at all levels in Nigeria to lower the cost of public transportation and haulage of goods by food trucks from the farm gates, thereby driving down hyperinflation and cost of goods by over 60 % in the medium to long-term, it then becomes VERY important for NNPCL and NIPCO which sell CNG within the N200 to N250 price band to build more CNG stations in states that have the most registered vehicle concentrations. The N450 cost of CNG per standard cubic feet at the engineering companies CNG stations (though still way cheaper than the more expensive PMS), could lead to excuses by some greedy transporters who would still want to make quick profits by charging the normal higher fares and hence affect the uniformity or harmonization in the long-awaited cheaper public transportation fares. A strict price control will have to be introduced immediately because based off of what an Abuja-based female NL poster said about the FREE CNG conversation kits last month, an Abuja-based taxi driver who she had an encounter with told her he benefited from the Presidential FREE CNG conversation kits and yet, this taxi driver dude was still charging the old transport fare while making huge average daily profits of up to N50,000!

The NNPCL boss did state in July 2024 that the reason they reduced their original percentage stake from 20% to 7.2% in the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery is because they wanted to use the funds to invest in the deployment of CNG infrastructure.

2 things.

1) There are a lot of energy companies that are now building CNG stations and the NMDPRA have stated that they will not issue new licenses for petrol stations unless the petrol stations also have CNG pumps.

2) The issue of controlling the fares of public transport operators is in the hands of the state governments and some state governments have actually gone ahead to regulate the prices (I think Ogun State, which has taken the lead in the CNG and EV campaign, has done that and some other states too). I will post articles about that in my next thread.

That's insightful Naptu2.

I forgot to add in my prior posts that the FIRST NNPC CNG mega fuel station inauguration on May 30, 2024 which Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Ogun State Governor attended is located in the Ilasamaja area of Isolo (Isolo Industrial Estate).

The second bolded point you made has to be taken by all the Nigerian states with a sense of urgency because the transportation costs have gone HIGHER in the wake of the recent scarcity and higher cost of PMS purchase (even for vehicles operating along several routes within Ogun State or from that state to Lagos State based off what I've gleaned online as of October 2024 from residents of both states). I'm aware that Oluwatobiloba Ajayi, the young CEO of NORD has supplied factory-built CNG buses to Ogun State where he hails from. Lanre Shittu Motors also has a factory in Amuwo Odofin where CNG buses are made for full purchase without having to convert any ICE buses to use CNG.

Based on my analyses of several convos online, the CNG and EV projects in Ogun State seem to be benefiting only Abeokuta the state capital and has NOT reflected in LOWER costs of transportation and reduced costs of food items in other major towns of that state outside Abeokuta, while other independent public transporters operating within Ogun State are still using the usual internal combustion engines (ICE) while charging HIGHER transport fares.

I'm looking forward to your NEXT insightful thread.

Ciao!

The conversion cost is too high and not cost effective for low-medium users. E.g for someone that is consuming about 50k worth of fuel in month, it will take more than 2yrs to cover the the conversion cost.
It only makes sense to the heavy users like travellers, commercial transporters or someone who just bought a new car that will be used for 4 or more years.
You can't consume only 50k fuel monthly with present prices. You'll definitely use more.

CNG powered vehicles I have known since the 90s when I did an IT on a shell oil production field, it's what one of the police van that works for them used. If the technology has been around for so long and it is not promoted by the car manufacturing companies, it can only mean it is not as viable as it looks on paper. As for the cng easily dispersing and not likely going to cause explosion, what if the vehicle is parked in a closed confined space where the gas concentration can build up? What if the source of the leakage happens close to an ignition source? This is where education and regulation need to come in.
I don't get what you mean by closed confined space when the cylinder itself is close confined grin
Maybe explosions can happen o, but it won't be because of that.

Meanwhile this thread is hilarious.
I don't think that person was wrong to ask about your user review. When more people use it and give their first hand reviews, more will be encouraged to adopt it. There's a lot of misconceptions and fear about cng that might be dispelled or minimized with user reviews.

Really considering buying a v6 vehicle and sticking CNG in it but my friends are so skeptical. 😂

Re: Inside The CNG Conversion Journey In Lagos by naptu2(op): 4:55am On Oct 06, 2024
1) No matter how many times you tell a lie, a lie is a lie and it won't become truth.

I provide information for those who want it, but I am not interested in convincing anyone about anything. That is a complete waste of time and doesn't do anything for me. The troll keeps repeating this story about "convincing" and "encouraging", but repeating it won't change anything. These people are adults and they can make up their own minds. Whether they choose to use CNG or choose not to use CNG, it doesn't add anything to my life and I couldn't give a damn about it.

2) The idea that a user experience will change the mind of a troll is false. It has already played out on my threads.

I have often said that these systems are hybrid, that is, they use both CNG and petrol and you can switch between the two sources of power. The chairman of Innoson said it, Gazzuz said it, etc. Yet this guy came and said that it is not possible. Did you see me try to convince him? No, I left him in his ignorance.

However, two people that have owned CNG vehicles came and gave their testimonies and told the guy how it works. Did the guy accept it? No, he simply said that it was a lie. So what did the testimonies of the owners do? Did they convince him?

Like I said, I can say anything, I can say, "Yes, I have converted my car" or "No, I have not converted my car", it won't change anything and I am not interested in wasting my time trying to change anything.
