Please i need your contribution on my present situation here in Canada

I'm presently on study visa here in Canada, I started class January 8 and done with my first semester in April 2024, and things are very tough and hard that i couldn't be able to pay my second semester. Then i wrote school that i need a study leave due to circumstance I'm facing back home and here in Canada and i was giving a study leave for one semester.

After the study leave for a semester is completed i cant still afford to pay my school fees..

Now my question is that can i change my school from public college to a private? in other for me to retain my status and after I'm done with the private school then i can apply for another study permit inside Canada to continue my study in public college

I hope this wont have any effect if i want to apply for my study visa extension ?

Note: I just gotten a job since last year December

Please i need your advise on this

I am new here btw. My friend actually advised me to join Nairaland because I am planning to move to Canada.

I must say this is scary and touching at the same time to read.

Try to hang in there and be strong. There is light at the end of tunnel.

Let me say that it's not that easy anywhere in the world these days.
Bowluwahtifeh:
You just spoke the mind of the people here in diaspora. I have spent 40M on this journey. I can't go back home again so we have to keep moving. I have friends here that will start crying once it's close to end of the month cos they need to pay their rent for the new month. We eat what we see not what we like. I had to use scissors and cut my hair cos I don't have money to make my hair. I finally got a job after 4months of being here but I can't even get 20hrs in a wk. Sometimes, na 8hrs/wk.
If I screenshot my indeed application, e reach 50 na so so unfortunately I dey get.

PPR alert!!!
My BVL dropped 24 hours before my PPR came.
My application timeline was 13 weeks. There was no update on the New portal tracker and the tracker account I registered on. Even when my BVL dropped before the PPR. Nothing changed on the tracker.
IRCC will humble you, but trust in Jesus, he's forever faithful and merciful.

I'm a first time applicant and I did my application process myself. I used the New portal. My POF documents alone was almost 100 pages. SOP documents was like 30 pages and I compressed it to 1.8mb. I used almost a month to write my SOP, because I needed to sell myself, not just as a mere student, but as someone who will make valuable contributions to the Canadian economy with my professional skills.

A total of 45k CAD was my budget for this application.
Documents used:
1. GIC (20,650)

2. First semester tuition receipt (11k CAD)

3. Tuition balance in my domiciliary account(8k CAD)

4. Flight and ancillary expenses of 5k CAD.

5. 15 months payslips and invoices from previous employer to my current employer and side gigs. Bureau de Change deposit slips.

6. Housing deed of gift which was legalized by the court.

7. Promotion letters (I had like 3 promotions in a year and 5 payrise when I worked for some Nigerian companies). Reference letter as a volunteer for an NGO.

8. My sponsor notorized the sponsorship letter. He also sent the full money I needed to my account. He gave me a copy of his residency permit, passport data page, investment account statement, employment letter and work permit, payslips for a year and his most recent picture.

9. I used my parents as home ties. I hardly take pictures of myself and I had no recent picture with my family, so I used family pictures of when I was a teenager and I added a recent family picture which I wasn't in.
I have a registered business which has never been operational since it was registered almost 2 years ago. I explained the reason my course program would give me the required skill needed in running the business when I return to Nigeria (I didn't submit a tax clearance because the business has never operated. But I submitted the CAC and shareholder documents).

10. Previous study visa rejection letter from another country's embassy. The admission letter of the school that admitted me (Still the same study program as in Canada. My study program is on the list of the programs Canada wants and would give PGWP for). The full tuition receipt I paid and the tuition refund receipt.

11. I'm in tech and I have been in the same job role for almost a decade. (I have worked remotely for companies in the top 10 tech countries in the world list). As a remote worker in Nigeria, you need to have multiple receiving accounts because of different clients and employers would give you their best option to send your money. I had 4 different foreign receiving accounts. I explained each and every transactions I got in them (I had lump sum transfers) and why I had 4 different receiving accounts and their pros. Even when I realized that I didn't attach some lump sum receipts to my POF documents 2 months after my application, I sent it with Webform and explained it.

12. My SOP explanation letter alone was almost 10 pages. I was truthful with my application. Where I had an error, I stated it and I showed proof on how the error came about.

13. I did upfront medical at Q-life because it was cheaper than IOM a week before I submitted my application.

This whole Canada thing was orchestrated and led by God, and all the glory, honor, and thanks belongs to him.

I acknowledge the effort of and I thank @Zubizareta and @JMG (Just Move Global), they patiently answered my questions on Whatsapp for free when I started this journey. Special thanks to others who answered my questions on Nairaland.

To others waiting, it's just a matter of time for your own testimony too in Jesus name. At a time I got tired of waiting. My admission process took over 2 months. My visa application process took over 3 months.
Never stop praying and never stop trusting God. Please, be truthful in your application. If you are stuck and need help with your application, you can shoot me a mail and I'll try my best to reply to them.

Hello experts in the house. I have a few questions with respect to processing admissions/visa.

1.) Please is there any consequences of not having my middle name on my international passport. Several other documents carry it but not all.

2.) Also, Birth certificate carries "Olusola"..... All other documents carry Olushola. Is this an issue? How do I resolve it?

3.) How do I get the certificate issued by NPC. I heard the conditions are a little different for people above 30 years of age.

Kindly advise.

Please, can someone who recently submitted their passport at the VFS Lagos office without booking an appointment share details on how they were able to submit it?
No booking. Just walk in with passport, letter from IRCC, slip they gave you during biometric, and like 5k naira for sms notification payment.

It may be hard to sell because you will need account to apply for the new school, but you can try your luck. It might be better for you to register for winter in the public college, even with loan (credit card, line or credit, 9ja bank loan, or others), and proceed. Saving or loan for next semester should be easier since you have started working. You just need to do the minimum course to be a full time student. In some schools, it is usually only 9 units, 3 courses that fulfill that requirement. This will help you to reduce your winter tuition and you can combine your savings and loan to pay to it. All the best.

Thanks for your contribution emmylag, My concern now is that if i change form public college to a private college and apply for my study visa extension. I hope this is not a red flag?

I can change college now while I'm inside Canada through my Ircc portal without applying for a new study permit.

But after i finished my program in private college and want to apply for a program in public college that when i will need a bank statement to apply for a new study permit

I am very sorry for the unfortunate situation you are in.

As an international student, you're only allowed to take a maximum of 150days of authorized leave of absence from your studies.
You have currently exhausted that option.

Switching to a private school is pointless!

Please be aware that you cannot work on or off campus during an authorized leave from your study program, even if your study permit states that you're allowed to work in Canada. Additionally, you cannot be out of school for more than 150 days, so you need to change your school immediately and inform IRCC. To those coming to Canada, please ensure you have your tuition fees and living expenses covered, as life is tough here. Thinking you can work to pay your fees and rent is extremely difficult. Please have a backup plan, such as a loan!!

Good morning nairalanders.

My wife got her PPR for her study permit application last week. We put in the application for study permit and SOWP together and submitted first week of September.

I ve been denied Visitors Visa before in 2022. The only update to my application so far has been "my previous biometrics being updated".

I know it's only been a week but can we start raising webforms.
Also. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

PPR Alert!

Study Permit Application Timeline:

- Submission: August 31st
- Biometrics Completed: September 13th
- Request for Additional Documents: September 19th (7 days given to submit)
- Medical Exam Request: September 25th
- Medical Exam Completed: October 3rd
- Medical Exam Passed: October 10th
- Passport Request Letter: October 10th

Financial Information:
I had a scholarship, but I also showed additional proof of funds of 10,000 CAD from my personal account and sponsor.

I stumbled upon this thread after I had already applied. I did the application myself, conducted most of my research on YouTube and the IRCC website, and then applied.

Hi. Please I’m currently looking to relocate to Canada through the study route with my spouse. I have done extensive research on the new immigration policies and changes and that is why it is proving a bit difficult to get a program.
I graduated with a second class lower, and I want to tap into the computer science or information technology sector due to my background in library and information science.
Any advices, suggestions and recommendations would be highly appreciated.

P.S: I’m currently looking into Carleton University and University of Saskatchewan

Good afternoon my people.

I've just been really curious and afraid at the same time.

The feedbacks i am getting from people in Canada, and what i have read so far seems to be really discouraging.

How true is the struggling over there?

Can you advice a new immigrant coming in as a skilled worker to come to Canada at the moment?

Are jobs available?

Please your inputs would be appreciated, i do not want to regret coming down there.

You can save a life.

Thanks

[quote author=Bobomaigida post=124652325]Hello House,
I am new here. I have been reading through all the pages, and I appreciate all the help you have been providing to people.

I would like to ask a few questions regarding applications for postgraduate programs in Canada. I studied English and Literary Studies for my first degree and graduated with a 2:2. I have been working as an HR Assistant for a few years, and now I want to pursue a master’s/postgraduate degree in Business Administration/Management. I sincerely need suggestions on schools to consider and courses that would give me a better chance and pathway toward PR.

Additionally, I want to know the criteria for qualifying for a postgraduate work permit there. I read about the new changes, but it’s even more confusing, as it seems that business courses do not have a pathway to a post-study work permit.

How feasible is it to change courses? If I gain admission with a closely related course, how likely is it that I can switch to a better course, like Social Work or Early Childhood Education? Can I apply directly to these courses with my current qualifications?

I appreciate any advice from you.
Thank you.

Yes, it is possible to include your spouse, but it depends on you going for an eligible programme like masters and having enough POF to cover for both of you.

I am guessing you are coming in as permanent resident. If you are then you will get more hints from the express entry thread, this thread os for people wishing to go through the study route.
Just to chip small insight
Canada is not a bed of roses
You will need enough funds to settle in, funds that will last you at least 5 months.
There are jobs but you do not just pick them off the street.

Changing courses will also depend on your school and your ability to convince the new school you have the requirements to study the courses you stated.

Hello house, please I need your opinion on this.
I got admission to study accounting at a college in Ontario. Right now I am confused wether I will be eligible for pgwp. Going by the new eligibilty criteria, for pgwp, accounting and computer science is the only one listed on ircc website.
I don't know if they are seperate or together.
Please your suggestion is needed, below is the link

1. What does it mean when IRCC requested for your updated LOA(letter of acceptance) and passed your medicals on the same day?

2. Does IRCC send an acknowledgment to you when you’ve submitted the LOA as requested on the portal and how long does it take to be acknowledged?

Thanks and I’m looking forward to hearing from you guys
