Really? Maybe Dan Agbese lived at a different time and planet. But we see him as an illiterate who went to Aburi and was oblivious of his environment. The issues discussed was above his head only to come back to renege and plunged the country into avoidable bloodletting. A stooge of the British/Fulani who ended up as the worst genocide perpetrator in Saharan Africa cos of oil. |

He didn't save anything. He was only dancing to the tune of our colonial masters. How I wish he allowed the Igbos to go!!! On the other hand, my fellow Yoruba brothers didn't use their brains well; they became errand boys to the North and fought a meaningless war. Can you see where we are today ! What could have been the best opportunity to undo the evil our colonial masters implemented for us was rather used to destroy ourselves. Let the amalgamation and suffering continue while our leaders keep running errands for the Brtits, Americans and the IMF. Our mumu never do. |

This Dan Agbese has submitted rubbish. When has this country ever been united? Gowon and Co were clueless on how to develop this country, they were always lavishing oil money on women and parties at Dodan Barracks then. Gowon said Nigeria problem was not money but how to spend the money was the problem. They were young officers without experience on how to govern a country. So, no writer should come out and be comparing him with George Washington. |

This journalist should go read about the Abure accord. If that agreement had not been broken, perhaps this country would have taken another trajectory course to a more developed and stable country. |

It was Gen Gowon that Stood between Ipob forefathers and being wiped off the map Even Ojukwu didn’t wait to see how what he started would end It was only because God still loved their Ancestors that it was the Merciful Gen Gowon who took their Surrender and not the enraged Muritala Mohamed Rwanda would have been like only Kindergarten It was the God fearing Gen Gowon who held back the Hawks |

Golan007:You don't have sense sha. Nigeria caused the war not Eastern region and not the igbos. Also let us look at it from this angle what have you done with the victory? Is Nigeria better? Or has the country not gone to the dogs? Some years back the same Gowon expressed regrets for state creation saying that it has divided Nigeria rather than uniting it. |

richmond500:Is Rivers better off? With black soot everywhere? Oga Nigeria has gone to the dogs. You guys in SS are the most ignorant and foolish people ever, they told you igbos who you have lived and coexisted with for centuries are your enemies because of oil and you agreed. You claimed igbos marginalised you, but there has never been any evidence that showed they did. Your oil is being mined and your environment is being devastated and desecrated. Whereas in the North they are mining gold and making money off it, see how foolish you guys are, all in the name of hating on igbos. |

richmond500:What he said is nothing but the truth! Igboland would have been highly developed so also other southern regions. Gowon foolishly destroyed the emancipation of blackman from the colonizers. War that was already settled by African people (OAU) in Aburi only for him go to back amd listen to the British who wanted the resources of the country. What they proposed isn't it what's in place in UK? Scotland, Wales, GBR & Norther Ireland though part of the union still independent and even economically viable. Igbos have been far head mentally that the rest of other tribes in naija & that's because they are a very old civilization |

Yeah, he saved Nigeria from prosperity, stability, and unity! His impressive achievement includes: - The Biafran War: a masterclass in conflict management (3 million lives lost, but who's counting?) - Gowonomics: Give all Igbos a shameless and paltry £20. If they were right about being independent, let them turn it to something let's see. - Infrastructure development: bombed roads, bridges, and buildings (a legacy of his innovative "let it rot" policy) - Education and healthcare: because who needs those fancy "schools" and "hospitals" anyway when everywhere is bombed and folks have kwashiorkor and influenza? - Corruption: It was his govt that set the standard and template for corruption and nepotism in Nigeria. So yeah, all that Nigeria could have been, Gowon saved Nigeria from them and look where we are today. At this stage in our nationhood, we're still proud of a Netanyahu of the past. |
