I bought on my app and didn’t print because it doesn’t say so on the app and that was my first time in that location so I had no idea I had to print it out. As soon as I got to the next stop I printed it out but I had already been fined. I explained but they just didn’t want to hear. Cyberknight: |

Good evening everyone, I am planning to relocate from Nigeria to Newport in January. I need assistance in finding accommodation and any other relevant information. If there's a WhatsApp group I can join for support, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help. |

Please, how true is this? A friend told me it is not necessary to get an International driver's license before traveling to the UK that the normal Nigeria driver's license is ok. |

Gift7428:That's fine. If you say that was indeed the case, then you'll need to prove that to them. Conversely, in my experience, anytime I buy a train ticket on my phone which subsequently requires me to print out a paper ticket from a station ticket machine to pass the barriers and show the ticket inspector, the app has always clearly informed me that this is to be done. I use a variety of apps including LNER, Trainline, and CrossCountry (tried Uber too a while back). |

afoobiggy700:Yes, that's correct. If you're coming on a resident visa (skilled worker, etc.), your entitlement to drive on your Nigerian licence in the UK ends 1 year after the day you moved to the UK as a resident, irrespective of the expiry date on the licence itself. |

moshuur:Add the Capital One CC to your PayPal. Then check the option for 'Direct to bank', and follow the instructions. Keep in mind that PayPal charges and Capital One funds transfer charges apply, and your credit score may also suffer a dip. |

LionInZion:I don’t know for sure as I’ve never done this before but won’t this count as a cash advance on the card and incur very high interest (from the day of the transfer) as a result? I might be mistaken ṣá. Just thought to flag it so the person is not shocked by the interest charges if that's the case. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by LionInZion: 10:06am On Oct 20, 2024 |
Goodenoch:Good heads up, thanks. Tbh I can't remember precisely how much but I think it's £3 or 3% of amount transferred (whichever is higher). Op can do their findings on how much it'll cost for the £200 transfer. |

LionInZion:Thanks boss. ... I'll open PayPal asap... My current credit score is 557 and I wan comot 200 pounds out of 500 credit limit. What's the extent do u think it might av on my credit score using those values up there (in ur opinion/experience) |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Ticha: 1:21pm On Oct 20, 2024 |
moshuur:Don't do it! The interest won't be worth it and it'll tank your credit. You're better off trying to apply for a new money transfer credit card that is set up to enable you transfer cash to your bank account. Saying that your credit rating is also on the poor side. Thread carefully |

I have proved everything to them including the tickets but it was rejected based on the fact that it was out of 21 days from the day I got the ticket. Is there any authority I can write to because if I don’t pay they said something about court. Cyberknight: |

moshuur:Abort mission, if you must do it with a money transfer card. You can also explore using overdraft instead. If you don't have one, try and see if you can get one with your bank. If your bank offers the current account switch service, you can switch your current account to First Direct, they have a generous overdraft facility with 0 interest on the first £250 plus they are currently offering a £150 bonus for current account switchers. I'll explore this last option first if I'm in your shoes. |

moshuur:You are going to get some mad charges for this . It affects your credit score as it's taken as a sign that you are struggling. Addendum: I m seeing other warnings to you too ⚠️ . Don't do it. I ve never considered this as an option because it clearly sets out in the paper your card comes with. Pull it out and read it Can you get an overdraft from your bank instead? Penalties will be less dire |

Person need £200, una say make hin no comot am....... If this £200 is desperately needed, what other options could he explore....... Moshuur, if this £200 is needed urgently, you would have no choice than to comot am from your credit card..... It wouid be seen as a cash withdrawal, with a £15 cash withdrawal fee, just pay it back as soon as you possibly can...... 😏 |

Gift7428:What do you mean by '' out of 21 days ''.... If all your appeal fails, you might have to take your chances with the magistrates in court (by contesting the fine)...... In the interim, send an email to the rail ombudsman(clearly stating your position) ..... info@railombudsman.org |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by kwakudtraveller(m): 8:51pm On Oct 20, 2024 |
Lexusgs430:It’s actually not seen as a cash withdrawal. I dey withdraw from my PayPal with my Amex when I need urgent cash and I’ve never been charged. It’s seen as a regular transaction and not a cash withdrawal and it doesn’t incur any charges, all they need to do is select the card when they want to send the money to someone on their PayPal list and select Family/Friends for the transaction. It also doesn’t affect anyone’s credit score as long as they say within the 25% spend on their total available credit. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by kwakudtraveller(m): 8:58pm On Oct 20, 2024 |
moshuur:You can’t send the money to yourself, you have to send it to someone who has a PayPal account and they’ll withdraw into their account and send it to you. Just make sure you pay back when your statement drops or atleast the minimum balance. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 9:21pm On Oct 20, 2024 |
kwakudtraveller:Card in question is capital one..... Extract from their website...... If you withdraw cash from most credit cards, a note is normally placed on your credit report.... And most lenders would view borrower negatively.....
