The journey to 2024 should be made into a movie. All the adversity, hate, oppression that Donald Trump was subjected to.

And he pushed through all that, to win in the end.

This is historic and significant.

Congrats to Donald Oluwafemi Trump, the 47th presido of the United States!
I'm so proud of him! He's a dogged fighter! Fight to the end! The lies, selective hypocrisy, pontification and biased morality have been so much!

At least, African countries go rest from the subdued pressure of eligibility. Let me be denied loans because of my inability to pay, not because I no gree to fvck another man.

The bulk of what you called him died here and never left the corners of the classroom, as he is now the 47th POTUS and have been called worse and even survived more than two assassination attempts.

Like you said, interesting times ahead as we look forward to global peace and stability above all.

Trump is also looking likely to win the popular vote- the first Republican since Bush in 2004; including control of the Senate and possibly the House as well.

Wow - that is an emphatic victory and a historic win. The polls were so out.

Congratulations to Trump. I hope he governs right, especially on the world stage.

Well done to Kamala, she fought a good race.

Starmer and others are already congratulating Trump. I'm grateful we have a Labour govt to protect our NHS (hopefully!) - last Trump presidency he was really eyeing it up when things were still up in the air post Brexit.

Stopping the war in ukraine isn't rocket science. If the US withdraws their funding, the war will die a natural death. You ought to know this!

Now, let's go and attend to the banter that pays the bills, mate grin

That means no sense and you know it, is US funding Russia? So going by your logic Ukrian should stop depending their country then Russia will leave? That makes sense to you?

That feeling of 2016 all over again though this time around it’s mixed, at one hand the dumbest president is about to take to power and in other hands my Tesla shares is going through the roof.

Interesting times ahead

Hi, thank you for your suggestions.

Everything mentioned has been put into practice, including vitamin D, for over two weeks now, along with what other posters have suggested.

It seems I’ll need to emphasize the allergen test to the doctor. The last time we went to the GP, we brought it up. If I had seen your advice earlier, I would have insisted on the allergen test, because from my own research, it seems likely she might be allergic to something.
hopefully the allergy test will provide the answers you need. on my end, what we did was to eliminate dairy (milk, cheese, butter), did allegy test and used dermatol (bought from Nigeria) sparingly on the skin (mix with Epaderm) and it seems to have gotten rid of it.

I agree it is difficult to navigate this, especially if you are not working in UK academia or lack an active research network in the UK.

You may consider these three options:

Option A - Short Term

Reach out to researchers in your field after reviewing their profiles and publications. Introduce yourself, highlight areas of mutual collaboration, and express your interest in working with them. If you’re able to pique their interest, in a subsequent email, let them know you’re considering the Global Talent Visa (GTV) to transition back to research in the UK. Ideally, they’d be willing to provide a recommendation based on your profile. The likelihood of this working depends on the quality of your previous publications—the work itself and the journals.

Option B - Long Term

Identify a hot topic or key problem in your research area and propose one or two projects you could carry out using secondary methods, such as a review, meta-analysis, simulation, or modeling. Complete the major part of the project but leave sections that require minimal effort yet are significant enough to warrant authorship credit.

Then, search for active researchers in your field with internationally recognized expertise. Introduce your work and experience, and propose collaboration on your ongoing projects.

Given your previous publications in reputable sources (which they’ll likely be familiar with) and your experience, you should be able to establish a research connection or collaboration. If this works, you can easily secure a recommendation letter for the GTV and may even find opportunities to transition back to research with them.

Option C - Network within Your Community

Reach out to fellow researchers from your country who work in your field. Share your CV and ask if they would be willing to provide a letter of recommendation to support your GTV application, as you intend to transition back to research in the UK.
Thank you for this idea , I will definitely follow this steps you mentioned and reach out to them

Rather a crude way to talk,I would say. We are not exactly in a beer parlour now,are we?

You seem to think that African countries will benefit from associating with Russia. I am genuinely interested in why you think this? Is he going to give us money? What will he want in return?

He doesn't exactly have a stellar record in respecting human rights. He doesn't like religious people also. He won't stop at LGBTQ suppression. Nope. Are you ready?

Trump has been a president. There's an existing record. So, all this "he would do this and that" are baseless to be frank. I've no business with Russia, but denying countries in dire need of loans because they refused to enshrine laws which sodomise men is extremely nonsensical and annoying. At the same time, the same administration lampoons the same countries for obtaining loans from China.

Thank goodness all that nonsense will end.

Commonsense has prevailed!

P.S. The crude talk is what humans are interested and how they operate, not lovey-dovey Olympics opening ceremony Satanic vibes.

Not quite the outcome I'd have preferred, but congrats to Mr Trump and now even more very likely - in advance to Reform or whomever is leading the right into the next UK elections in 29.

Your point is moot as We will find out soon enough what he will do. Na all of us go 👀 am.

It's incredibly naive of you to think any foreign aid comes without strings. It's called "soft power" for a reason.

LGBTQ seems to be your personal bugaboo, lol .
When the US supreme court overturns obergefell, you can move to the US. The UK still supports human rights ,thankfully

Did you know he is going to deport naturalised us citizens too . Round them up, put in camps and deport them. ..

Also he now has absolute immunity for everything he does while president. Mein Gott...it's starting to sink in

I don't reside anywhere in the West. However, if I am to move to any country aside from China, I am heading to the US. I LOVE Capitalism and economic freedom. The United States is BLESSED. There is a reason Nigerians there out-earn other diasporans. I am obsessed with economic freedom and how I spend the MY MONEY. I don't believe the government or any entity has the right to dictate how to spend my money.

Freedom at last! In Capitalism I Trust! Facts not fats; Figures, not Figos matter in life.

You are in even hotter soup than I thought.

Loooooool, dude. At least there is a bit of money to cushion the deleterious effects of Trump on people in the West. Enjoy your freedom.

Lol I'm sure Nige has already briefed his boss, he's been following Trump around the last week. He (Farage) was beside himself with joy on the radio this morning at Trump's win lol

However I remain assured - if Trump could not succeed with the NHS back in 2016 when we had an NHS sceptic Tory government, then I doubt he'll make any headway with a pro NHS Labour government.

I am genuinely fishing for thoughts on how Trumps win will affect Nigeria.

Putin is now in the ascendance, is this good for Nigeria? I know we signed up to that BRICS thing. Will it save the Nigerian economy? And at what cost?

How should Nigeria play this?
*musing*
