odizeey:he'd have achieved the same. Madrid largely got over the line in those competitions because of him. I don't think he'd have scored any less than he did if he continued in England. time has shown that the "competitiveness" in English football really depends on the party involved. |

ChristineC:I don't think any of Ronaldo or Messi would be getting those 50 , 48 and 40 plus League goals in England. He would have also struggled to win those individual awards over Messi if he had stayed in England. Madrid was the only club that could go toe to toe with Barca in terms of hype and PR. |

odizeey:I used to follow and I still do follow Barcelona as much as I do United. So, it was easy for me to like Messi even though Man Utd is my favourite club. Back then, I used to argue that Ronaldo was better because he added goals to his game before Messi but when Ronaldo left, I was just too pained and that coincided with the period Messi reinvented his game like Ronaldo did earlier so I opted to Stan Messi...I am also left-footed so maybe that's another thing that made me choose Messi... Make I no talk too much, I no fit forgive Ronaldo for leaving for Madrid. It's the most painful period for me as a United fan... I also started to hate Rooney when he pushed for a move away. It was that overhead kick against City that made me forgive and forget... |

patrickmuf:Most people would tell you Ronaldo played his best football at United not Madrid. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 2:10pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
Bombblacks:Spot on. Loyalty to Utd would have been costly to him. Ronaldo would have won max of 1-2 UCLs in addition to the 2008 one, and probably same for Balon Dor. He made the right move for lots of major trophies annd goals which helped him compete with Messi as well. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Lana1(m): 2:19pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
Bombblacks:These were the kind of things we used to tell ourselves when we were younger to convince ourselves EPL was better than LaLiga. Messi always scored against English opposition whenever he met them in the UCL. You think he wont do it every week against Huddersfield and Charlton Athletic? Ronaldo dropped a 40 goal season before he left. Drogba came close too with a couple of 30+ goal seasons. Alan Shearer was doing 35 league goals in a season before Ronaldo's time. Prime Ronaldo and Messi would have ate the EPL up just as well as they dominated LaLiga |

.....Ruud should play 3 - 4 - 3 formation tonight. I am sure Amorim will watch the match, hence should help him out to see who and who he can actually build the team around. |

odizeey:I have a theory that Messi may not have achieved as much as he did if Pendu didn't go to Madrid, it applies to Pendu as well. Your biggest motivation is your rival catching up with you |

CapitalCee:Was Chicharito a flop for Man United? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by dopeJemi: 2:50pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
spillo1:It’s not so difficult to score 1 goal each in 21 matches, It is extremely difficult and rare to score 21 in a match. You are the one talking about rating, I am talking about Standings showing that both players scored 21 goals at the end of the season, Try and follow me. As much as it is extremely difficult to score 21 in a match, The Top scorer standings won’t state that, it won’t state their Ratings in that match or the matches after, it will simply say Both players ended the season with 21 goals. It’s as simple as that and that has been my point from the beginning and also that Berbatov was never a Flop, Not even saying he was the best or so great, but he was never a flop and you agree too cause you just said He was Ok and that’s all I need to end this argument boss man. |

dopeJemi:Chicharito and flop should not be in the same sentence abeg. Chelsea fans cant forget him in a hurry. 9 goals in 15 appearance against Chelsea. Scored them in every competition we met them. |

dopeJemi:Chicharito was a far better signing than Berbatov. Berbatov was signed for £30m, a record signing at that time. in 2008 he struggled all through his united career and spent just 4 seasons and shift to Fulham. Infact chicharito came in and after few weeks immediately started benching him, especially in key games. Chicharito came in 2010. Although he had some injuries. He was very fantastic scoring so many goals in key games. Infact the season he came as a youngster from Mexican club Guadalajara for just 4m Euros, he Benched Berbatov who came to us as a Superstar from Spurs. Guy i no wan know who you remember me as. But if you watched berbatov and Chicharito you shouldn't be asking this question. Chicharito was a massive hit for Fergie. Fergie trusted Chicharito like crase. Our UCL run Chicharito was scoring and assisting till the final. Infact he started in the final versus Barca, as one of our key danger man, Berbatov didnt even make the match day sqaud. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by CapitalCee(m): 3:55pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
larride:Some Man u fans sha, after they will say make we no call them children. Not only Chelsea. Chicharito was Banging in goals in key matches and key moments, like crase and some of his goals are ones he has no buisness scoring, very clinical, he just struggled with few injuries, but whenever he returned he continues from where he stopped. |

Oasis007:Did you see our position in that table? Lol. You want Ruud to experiment in a match that is as important as this. This Europa fit finally be the competition wey we go use qualify for UCL |

Lana1:Rooney and Van Persie did 30+ goals season Multiple times in England na. Van Nistelrooy did 41 goals in 2002. So nothing new there. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Bombblacks: 4:20pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
Lana1:I was talking about league goals in specific. Drogba never scored 30league goals. Shearer never scored 35league goals in a 42 or 38 league season. Scoring against Epl teams playing with Barcelona is different from playing for an English team against them in a league match. For example Messi had 11goals in 16matches against French teams when playing for Barcelona. He went to the French league and dropped 6goals in 26league games. Infact his total in the French league was 22goals in 58games. Before going there everyone thought he was going to destroy the farmers league until reality happened. Of course that wasn't prime Messi but you should get the point am trying to pass across. Messi and Ronaldo will dominate the league no doubt but they won't be getting those 40plus league goal numbers. |

CapitalCee:I'll reply you with this great quote from the legendary Sir Alex himself. "Attack wins you games defence wins you titles" Check our squad again during those period and tell me if you saying we won those trophies because of ronaldo no be mis yarn. Like 6 of our players even made PFA for 07 o. It's just like saying City winning the treble is largely due to Haland. Nah your type dey reason say Vinicius deserves the balon d'or ahead of Rodri. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by odizeey(m): 4:23pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
ChristineC:With which support system? Which coach. Some strong men that aided him were already in the evenings of their careers. Scholes, Giggs, and even Fergie. That period was different from now, in case you want to bring Pep's recent dominance. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by dopeJemi: 4:24pm On Nov 07, 2024 |
CapitalCee:I dunno why you are shouting Jesus, I asked a simple Question, I didn’t assume or assert anything. Berbatov wasn’t a Flop at United. Wasn’t so great but was never a flop. That’s all I have to say and have been saying. Winning the golden boot with United should not even put him in the same sentence with the word “flop”. How and who he scored his goals against are inconsequential, He was top scorer in a league considered to be the best. |
