July 2024. I make it a duty to travel home atleast once a year.

At least once in a year, this is the minimum requirement no matter where we are in the world. no whatsapp video can replace physical contact. Children who have establish physical contact with their parents while they are alive wont miss them much when they are no more.

WE KEEP HOPING THINGS WILL GET BETTER BUT INSTEAD IT KEEP WORST.... GO SEE YOUR PARENT GUYS. DO THAT THIS WEEK. THINGS CANT GET ANY BETTER FOR U WITHOUT THEM USING THEIR MOUTH TO BLESS U FOR THE LITTLE U GIVE THEM AND YOUR PRESENCE. SAD ENOUGH WE SEEK SPIRITUAL HELP WHEN WE NEGLECT THE SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES. Oh dear! They all have gone back to their Creator. Mum 1996 (28 years ago), Dad 2014 (10 years ago). How l wished I could be given just a second to see them face to face!!!

I saw my parents last month. That was after a year and it usually doesn't go beyond a year

These days because of the economic factors, JAPA syndrome and many other factors. Physically meeting with parents has become challenging. pls lets know when you saw your parents last and if its been long , what are your reasons?

Some do give their parents benefiting burial spending millions but they were no where to be found when their presence is needed most?

Won't our parents cherish the Physical Presence more than the millions spent for the burial?

This is one narrative I have refused to buy into over the years. Of what benefit is my physical presence when it won't solve their health or financial challenges?

We just follow norms like zombies without critical thought or questioning why. When one of my parents started mounting pressure on me to visit home so they could see me, I told them I spent 25 years of my life with you before leaving home, you know what I look like and I know what you look like.

That same parent once said they don't see me but they feel my impact from miles away due to how I support them financially without fail on a monthly basis. Which made me realise you can do right, do good and do well by your folks without being physically present.

Children were always meant to grow up, leave the nest and make something of their own lives. I don't get this emotional blackmail people put out there about visiting or seeing parents often so they won't feel lonely and they will live long. Story for the gods, when it is your time to die you will die and it won't be because of loneliness from children's absence. It was simply time for you to go.

Parents need to get a life outside of their children and not make children the be all and end all. Spouses should also learn to be friends and companions for those later years when the children are gone. We are all going to stand alone and give account of our individual lives when this earthly life is over, we won't be asked to give account as a family, so kini big deal?

This one didn't know his parents hence lacks the understanding of who parents are and by large family

My dad is late, I had to transfer all the love to mum (Mrs Adeagbo), I saw her some days ago, but call her almost everyday.

That is one of my fear for japa.

Since you are making the money, spend your leave with them, book a return ticket for you and your family play with them for 3 days and return to base. 16 years is too long a time. Your siblings asked the right question.

Both are late. Sometimes, I wish they are available to see their grandkids.

Nevertheless, if they are available, the high cost of living will make us consider video calls.

Spend more physical and quality time with your parents because when they're gone, Whatsapp calls won't bring back their memories. Lost my father in 2015 and my mum in 2017. But every time i see my mum's number on my phone, still feel like calling out of impulse to hear her voice. Na only God nor make me kill myself cos I became very suicidal. I seriously pray you understand what I'm tryna say.

You cannot always be around them all the time. The feeling will always be the same when they are gone whether you saw them recently or few yrs ago

Saw my Dad last face to face when prepping him for the grave. See my Mum every other day.

Saw mine dad today been on Sunday a week... on Tuesday is no more... *tears in my eyes* it really hard to write and say rip peace daddy till we meet to part no more
