djbaju:It is preferable to send MBS to IRCC, but they also accept the soft copies generated from the app, just ensure it carries the stamp or any other confirmatory mark. |

Good Evening, I am currently in Canada as an undergraduate student. I started my 100l 1st term in January 2024, and my study permit expires in January 2025 because of the expiry date of my passport. I am on a payment plan for my second term fees. I plan to submit my dads 4 months bank statement with my available one year tuition and a letter from bank stating how much I have in my account. I need guidance to know if there will be any red flag based on my information. Thank you |

Good day All, Please I have few questions Biko 🙏 1. If the spouse of masters students gets SOWP and the student differs after arriving Canada, will the SOWP be revoked? 2. On the average, how long does it take to get SOWP approved? 3. Also, will an American citizen trying to do a Masters in Canada have to write English test? |

In my case my bank couldn’t provide me MBS at the time I needed it. What I did. I ask them to print and stamp my SOA and in also requested for reference letter. Again, while I tried to compress the printed copy to below 2mb having scanned it, the SOA became too blurred. I had to surmount this challenge, by saving the clear version of my SOA on my google drive and I use hypertext link to reference it on my LOE. While on the session that requires i upload the SOA. I generated the stamp version of my bank statement from my App. and also included the bank reference letter. #I hope this helps. djbaju: |

olajide2428:1. They won't revoke SOWP if the student differ, but you will need an authorised leave of absence from school to be on safer side and for pgwp. |

Hi everyone! Please can a family estate statement of account work as proof of fund for a study visa application? The applicant’s father is one of the signatory to the account so it is the same last name on the statement. |

You can do a either a free or paid request for GCMS notes, search on this thread to see the process to do so. I suspect the issue with your application the lack of explanation on the sources of the funds with verifiable documents, cos even though the funds are available, the processing officer does not know how you raised the funds in the first place. |

Study permit gives life to SOWP. If you are not actively pursuing your studies, any work done on the SOWP is illegal. Dont try it now that Canada is saying getting PR after study is no more automatic. Do not gibe them tje rope they will use to hang you Predator188: |

The 4 months bank statement showing your tuition fee is sufficient for your extension. Study permit extension is nothing like the initial study permit application. Incrediblequeen: |

It is acceptable to use it if your father is one of the owners AND you can provide the board of directors’ resolution on financing your education. The resolution should be signed and stamped on the company’s letterhead. You should also show the business legitimacy by submitting some of these documents: Tax clearance cert Receipts and invoices Contracts, if applicable. Letter from the company’s financial institution stating the account is in good standing This list is not exhaustive. Dame24: |

1. No. Once issued, the SOWP holder can legally work even if the student stops studying or defers their admission. In fact, it remains valid even if the couple divorces. However, you cannot extend it if the student fails to meet eligibility requirements or you are no longer a couple. 2. Currently, it takes an average of 5 months for Nigerian residents. 3. It depends on the school and program's requirements. Most schools exempt Nigerian and U.S. citizens from such tests. olajide2428: |

Kurukuru:What you are saying is not true, there can be genuine leave of absence from a student, that can cause the student not to be actively pursuing studies like illness and the student may have came to Canada with spouse on SOWP,even otherwise,it is not even illegal for the SOWP holder to continue work as long as the permit is still valid.. Haven't you heard the current news of a student that came to Canada on study permit and had a car accident was in coma with injuries, so how will the student actively pursue studies with the conditions and the Student came with spouse on SOWP and have children also, so if you are an immigration officer, you will revoke the SOWP or term the spouse work done on this circumstances illegal in canada . |

Hi guys, I am currently in Canada on a visit visa, can I apply for a study permit from inside of Canada or do I need to apply from Naija? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by bullstriker: 3:56am On Nov 18, 2024 |
With an in-Canada study permit application (IMM 5709, if using a gckey account), having a visitor visa does not make you eligible. To be eligible to apply from inside Canada as a visitor (a study permit is processed at a visa office in Canada, the Edmonton Office to be specific, and the permit is mailed to your address), you must meet specific criteria; one such requirement is completing a course or program prerequisite to securing a school admission to a DLI. With the outside-of-Canada study permit (IMM 1294, if using a gckey account), the application is processed at a visa office outside Canada. Note that you can submit a study permit made outside Canada while in Canada on a visitor visa. Once you receive your PPR, you can mail your passport to Ottawa and flagpole to obtain your study permit after the visa is issued. Aheadahead1: |

Hello everyone, I plan on going to Canada soon. I have my tuition balance in my Dom account. Left for me, I would like to pay the balance right now, but I heard it's better not to touch POF till one gets into Canada and obtains their study permit. Would you advise me to pay the tuition balance before I move or till I get to Canada? Thanks. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by affoncad: 9:54am On Nov 18, 2024 |
Aheadahead1:Yes, you can apply for a study permit while in canada as a visitor visa holder, has the same requirements whether you’re applying from inside or outside Canada. You’ll need to provide a Letter of Acceptance (LOA), Proof of Funds (POF), PAL and a medical test, which can be more expensive within Canada. Also, remember there’s no guarantee of approval or rejection. When choosing a school, try to avoid institutions that don’t offer a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) to keep your options open.

bullstriker:You're overcomplicating a simple process. Additionally, no course completion is required to apply for a student visa within Canada while on a visir visa . I know over 2 individuals who entered Canada on a visitor visa and successfully applied for a student visa internally. However, I must note that: - The process isn't stress-free. - You'll still provide the same requirements as applicants outside Canada that LOA, PAL, PROOF OF FUND - Medical fees are more expensive inside Canada. - Approval isn't guaranteed (100%). - If approved, you'll need to go to the border for flagpoling to get your study permit. - You'll face another interview at the border before receiving your study permit. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by affoncad: 10:19am On Nov 18, 2024 |
MarksmanD:You can pay your tuition fee balance before departing your home country and hold evidence of payment , but the border guard may still request proof of living expenses. Note that tuition and living expenses are two distinct requirements. |

Hi everyone, I need advice please. I applied for study permit in June and got approved in October but because of how long it took, the school had already told me to apply for FALL 2025 in September before approval came in October. Now I have a few questions: 1. If I get a new admission letter, do I need a new study permit for same DLI? 2. My medicals will expire May 17, 2025. Can I enter by first week of May for September resumption? 3. My current study permit will expire April 2026. When can I extend my study permit? Thanks in advance for the insight |

I understand there are genuine cases as highlighted below but even then such student must apply for it or their spouse to be able to continue working based on humanitarian provision provided for challenged student either through deferrement of admission or abandonment where the student has become destitute. It is not Automatic based on any emergency. The example we are speaking to is when the student intentionally applies to extend there study start date so they can work and make up for funds ordinarily the PoF they claimed to have should have catered for. If such happens, so far the student or spouse worked with a SIN and it is on record they/or spouse were not actively enrolled as at then without applying for the humanitarian reason to get work approval while study is paused, the so-called student/spouse would be deemed to have violated Study/Work condition. Finally, you forgot Spouse also declared PoF for their upkeep during their SOWP application when accompany spouse in their study period so it is not an excuse. Reason they have that financial requirement intact. It is only the medical cost in this case that is emergency, all other cost should have been provisioned for. Predator188: |
