Friends, I'm quite surprised nobody has talked about this ALL IMPORTANT bill to be debated on Friday.

THE ASSISTED DYING BILL.

Or did I miss it?? That bill is more important than some people think honestly. It's a slippery slope that must be avoided at all cost, Hitler's Aktion T4 comes to mind!!!
Different strokes for different folks.
I don't think it will pass, but I really hope it does.
Life is all about quality, not necessarily quantity. In the absence of the former, I certainly would want the option to determine the latter.

Are you religious please? The world is moving away from capital punishment but moving towards assisted dying... It's the same principle - killing.

On a totally different note, £150k annually is massive!!! Whereas Salah, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford etc earn over £300k in ONE WEEK!!!!

Chai, these footballers don't deserve any rest. They should play football all day, all week!! C'mon
😂 you want to kill them for their mother!

If you're religious and your religion forbids it then don't go for it. Simple.

Why burden and restrict others based on what your religion allows or doesn't allow?

By the way, I also strongly support capital punishment and generally much harsher punishment for criminals (although I would amend the threshold to make the standard of proof higher for capital punishment). I think it's a travesty that people can take the lives of other people violently and still get to live their lives and maybe even be released back into society at some point.

As Cyberknight stated, different folks for different strokes. I'd rather someone puts me off the life support when I'm obviously vegetative/suffering especially with no hope of quality life left in me. There's no point being rotten on sick bed when someone can just put an end to it all. I fully support assisted dying.

Religious? If you mean that in the ordinary sense of the word, as in "practicing a religion/having a religious belief", yes.
Speaking for myself only (please feel free to hold on tightly to whatever you believe in), my having or not having a religion does not constrain my general freedom to arrange my life as I see fit.

Nor does it mean that I allow others to do my thinking for me. I freethink as much as I can.

I want assisted dying to be legal so that it is an option if ever the situation arises. I'm also a supporter of abortion for those who want to avail of it, and so forth.

People who are terminally ill and in constant pain with just a few months to live should be able to end their life on their own terms. What's the point of going through excruciating pain when the person will still die anyway.

And talking more about control there is now a job vacancy advertised by the govt for an EU negotiator, they say it’s to reset relations with the EU, one thing I love is the vocabs they throw around to dribble people while using other rhetoric as a cover. Interesting times ahead

My brother I encourage you to apply, the pay is good o 150k per year 😜
Hehe... If media-facing, I’d view this role as a poisoned chalice. Honestly, unless the benefits are particularly robust, the pay should be higher given what the role entails.

Another good thing with the recent spike in numbers and the latest OBR projection is that it might shift public expectation. People could eventually feel 'thankful' if net migration dropped to 300k. I remember mentioning some time ago that the UK needs 300–500k more people in long-term net migration to maintain stability. Ms Z then said it was my 'opinion'

The argument was not whether the UK had control powers or not. I suspect that is a debate you've been having with yourself.
I see you've shifted from moving the goalposts to attacking grammar.

You'd rather do anything than hold the government, which issued over 700,000 visas, responsible. I agree—the UK government was a naive, hapless teenager who was 'invaded' by vicious migrants.

It has always been evident that Western nations maintain robust control over migration. They loosen and tighten rules as needed to attract the people they need.

Captain of the Debate Team (ably assisted by his Co-Captain, the Rt Honourable Mr Goke) - Top of the morning to you 😂

Quick point of correction if I may - it was actually over 1.2 M visas - 700,000 is merely the net figure.

In other news, I came across a story that the Nigerian government is to launch an investigation into civil servants receiving salaries from abroad. I hope you're not "among them" lol
(Issa joke oh)

The above resource contains very useful FAQs and support links for those on a health and care visa, such as how to claim compensation from your employer, what to do if you lose your job, the government register of sponsors, and other helpful information.

Yes you're right, I got one already. Thanks for your input.

Samguine:
Where is your location?

Search for seasonal roles. Most stores/supermarkets are recruiting for Christmas/seasonal roles.

Good luck.

Lots of 'fresh' ideas and tough talk. You'd almost think that she's an activist campaigner who has never held a political office before.

She said it’s time to tell the truth, when will this truth be told finally? cos it’s surely different what many people think. 🤔

u people are saying the same thung in respect of the figures. Over 700k over 1.2m is same thing. Emphasis is on "over" if the word "about" was used, then, it will mean something different.

What is IN this very important bill being debated today on assisted dying?

Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by missjekyll: 1:05pm On Nov 29, 2024
I see this bill as a win for people who are terminally ill.

It's got a few kinks to be worked out but I am very happy we are having this conversation.
50% of us will be diagnosed with a cancer at a point in our lives. For people with incurable cancers who today live in terror of a painful death without dignity ,this national conversation will come as a relief.

What do you think? What changes would you like to see in this bill?

I've followed keenly since 9.30am this morning. It doesn't look like it's going to pass, there are too many grey areas. There'll be coercion, and the bill would be abused.
