When you first meat each other, that's the first stage of friendship, getting to know more about each others. Likes and dislikes, do and Don't. With distance, no touching

After getting to know each others, that's when you start developing feelings, reasoning normally rhymes at that stage. From there you start getting emotional, and from emotional to proper dating intimacy blah blah
