Hello,

My broadband contract (with Virgin media) is ending in few days.
Can someone recommend a broadband with good deals. I don't understand what Virgin media is saying regarding renewal of contract because how can I move from £22 to £57.

If you inform VM, you're not renewing your contract..... They might offer you a much better deal........

Try EE, they seem to have good deals......

Considering his lifestyle 1m is not surprising to me, a lawyer somewhere will be benefiting from that money

My people, please just a few questions:

- How do I go abt adding my husband's surname to my name in this UK.
- Is there any child benefit for an migrant with no recourse to public funds (on a visa)?

Two questions for you......

Why do want to add his name...... It makes no difference to your status in the UK, just adds more complications......

No recourse to benefit for your baby too, unfortunately.........

I see deals with download speed around 37, 51 and 74 Mbps on EE, will this be good enough for streaming TV programmes.

Hello house!

Could someone please suggest affordable and decent apartment options around or within the “Birmingham/Coventry” area? (Shared or Private)

I’m resuming at Ulster Birmingham campus next and I’d appreciate if folks on here could help with suggestions as requested above!

Tnx!

Sure , you can change your name by deed poll. The real hassle will be changing your documents..if you need renew Nigerian passport na double wahala be that

Your child is entitled to some hours of free nursery and of course free basic education. This is the extent of my scanty knowledge. Lemme ask others

Accommodation in Birmingham is an uphill struggle, with Asian landlords charging over the odds for half decent properties....... I was at ulster campus last week for a graduation ceremony, it felt like unilag (considering the roll call).... 😂

Would see if I can get you any decent leads......

Hi everyone, pls has anyone applied for PSW or any other visa with the partner not staying in the same address "on record".

Pls are they required to fill in the same address while applying?

Note they are married but staying in a students only apartment where only the student's address is recorded in the apartment while the partner uses another address for posts, banks etc

Seeking general advice on this.
Thank you

Hello,

I use Brsk, it’s new network and very good speed. I was using EE before but network was not strong in the area.

Depends on your location in the uk.

You can use my referral code, we both £50 amazon voucher when you sign up after one month

It’s £24 per month but they are doing £19 fixed for 2 years.

You can use my code please 😄🙏🏻

In Coventry look around CV1, especially along Holyhead road as it will only be a minute or 2 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop, to board the £2 bus heading to Birmingham.

Hello good people.
I need contribution on way forward.

I just moved out from an apartment and I tried all possible best to put the flat in shape so my deposit can come back in full payment.
After the checkout inspection the Estate agent emailed to inform me that there are cleanings and fixing to be done in the apartment and they will get back to me as regards the estimate.
I replied to inform him that I have tried all my possible best to put all in shape before leaving the apartment and I don’t see any place that requires cleaning or fixing in the property.
The Estate agent replied my email and inform me the landlord is ready to settled for £100 and give me
the rest , if I agree he will contact TDS to remove the £100 and close my account. And if I disagree the Landord will pursue all means to get me fix and clean on my cost .

Is it reasonable I let go, mind you when I went through the report there was no significant difference from when I moved in and when I left.
Thank you

Viruses:
Consider these options:

Personal (bank) loan
Payday loan (check google for providers)
Bank overdraft
Credit card (increase the limit or apply for more if you have exhausted the limits in your current one)
Loan from family and friends
Salary advance from work (speak to your HR)

Finally, book a flight and let them go back home to Nigeria before their visas expire. When you raise money, apply for them to join you as dependants just like you want to apply for them now and there won't be any issues.

You have used your credit card, you have borrowed loan, in your shoes, I would personally go with this last option rather than incur more debt. It's not a big deal so don't overthink it. It will even give you time to do more work and stabilise your finances.
I would have love to go with the last option. But in all honesty there is no one to look after them if they go back to Nigeria. I tried applying for loan but they wouldn't give me because my visa is expiring soon.

Let it go. EAs are vultures anyway, and £100 is a good price to save your time and energy for the back and forth with them. The landlord very likely wont go to small claims unless the damage is massive (which you say it isn't), but I'm assuming you'd want a reference, and if so that's a small price to pay. Otherwise, up to you.

What’s the total deposit? How long did you stay there? Did they tell you what needs cleaning or fixing? Do you have photos and videos of how the place looked when you moved in and how it looks when you left? Is it in the same condition?

Sounds to me like they’re trying to cheat you. Reality is that there’s an expected amount of wear and tear that occurs in every rented property and that increases the longer you stayed there.

The fact that they did not tell you what needs fixing or cleaning upfront before asking for 100 is suspicious, and will likely count against them if you dispute it with the deposit scheme.

Either way, it depends on how much the 100 means to you and if it’s worth the time and effort it may take to prove your case.

If I were in your shoes, I would dispute it as a matter of principle (read: stubbornness) even though the sum isn’t substantial. I’ve never had a penny deducted from my deposits in the two places I rented because I was very deliberate about caring for the places and deep-cleaning them when moving (first time by ourselves and second one by paying for a professional post-tenancy clean). If the landlords had attempted to take anything, I’d have happily disputed it and supplied all the evidence.

Did you try using your bank app? They allow you to make applications in-app and not all ask you for any details of status in the UK, I know NatWest doesn't. If you have a Nigerian association where you are, you could try fundraising through there. There are quite a few fundraisers going on in ours, and people do contribute in little ways. I presume you'd have already tried the [Nigerian] religious centre option, if you have one.

Can someone recommend a broadband with good deals. I don't understand what Virgin media is saying regarding renewal of contract because how can I move from £22 to £57.
Call them and let them know you don’t want to renew again as you can’t afford to pay £57. They will beg you with better deal maybe £27. I did the same and they upgraded my bandwidth too.

If you have a clear picture of before you started living in the house and after you moved out( then you can use this to get your money back. Just send the details to the estate agent as evidence. If you don’t have these details then I would advice not to chase unless the £100 is a big cash out of the deposit
