Victoria Orenze Ordained as Apostle, Sparks Debate Among Christians

The ordination of gospel singer Victoria Orenze as an apostle has ignited significant debate on social media, particularly within Christian communities. The ceremony, which took place recently, was officiated by Pastor Chris Delvan, with notable figures such as gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey and Bishop Wale Oke also in attendance. A video from the event, showing these influential leaders laying hands on Orenze, has since gone viral, sparking widespread discussions about the role of women in church leadership and the appropriateness of this ordination.

In the video, Pastor Delvan is seen charging Orenze, a singer renowned for her powerful worship songs, with the responsibilities and significance of apostleship. The footage, accompanied by pictures of the event, has stirred a range of reactions. While some applaud the bold move, others have raised concerns, particularly over the biblical interpretation of women holding such positions in the church.

The ordination has prompted questions about scriptural guidelines and whether women should hold the title of apostle. Critics argue that the Bible does not support women in such authoritative roles, particularly in teaching men doctrine in the church. One social media user, @heroism2000, commented, “The Bible does not permit women to teach men doctrine in the church. This ordination seems to contradict scripture.”

Others have expressed their concerns about the possible impact of this decision on the perception of the church. @Nasibzubairu1 remarked, “Apostleship is not for women. This is a mistake.” Another user, @BamtopB, questioned the necessity of the title, saying, “This new title could alter how people see your ministry. You can still affect your generation without this title.”

However, some view the ordination as a positive step towards inclusivity and progress within the church. Supporters argue that this reflects a broader shift in attitudes towards gender roles in church leadership. @AkpCharles shared, “If there is no opposition to this, it means we are making progress in embracing change and gender equality in the church.”

This move is not the first time Orenze has sparked controversy. Previously, she faced backlash when she referred to God as "Jehovah El-Steeze," a phrase that some saw as unconventional and irreverent. Despite such criticisms, Orenze has continued to garner a large following, with her music and ministry having a significant impact on her audience.

The ordination has ignited broader conversations about the role of women in leadership within the church, particularly in Pentecostal circles. The debate highlights the tension between traditional interpretations of scripture and the evolving views on gender equality in Christian ministry.

As this controversy continues to unfold, it raises important questions about how church traditions are evolving and whether gender roles in religious leadership will continue to shift in the coming years.

It shows that not everyone in today's church is ignorant that the teaching against women speaking in the church is not only erroneous but antichrist!

I don't know who the woman is but if she was truly chosen by God, to hell with the opinion of men, including so-called Christians.

When it comes to choosing men or women for His work, God never consults with any man, not even His prophets or apostles.

He chooses whomever He wills so it's up to His servants to either accept that fact or be left out of what God is doing.

God bless.

The title 'Apostle' in Christendom holds profound significance, reserved for genuine disciples of Christ. Witnessing this esteemed title being trivialized is truly disheartening. Let's be candid, we both know that she doesn't merit this honorable title.

Simply because they don't keep His teachings.

Most of them are hypocrites who honor God with their mouths and lips but their hearts are far from God.

They call Jesus, "Lord, Lord" but do not obey what He says....

....So the problem isn't at all with that saying of Jesus but that most so-called Christians were not not following His teachings but man-made doctrines and traditions which profit nothing."

Here you are honouring the traditions of men despising and discarding The Very Word of God Who never called a woman into His Temple, not even once.

You are so confused. In case you don't know, in the realm of the Spirit there is no man or woman, there is only the Spirit man.
You're like the pharisees in the Bible that asked Jesus if a woman married five siblings which of them she would be with in the afterlife and he told them they don't know scripture. There is no man and woman, only the Spirit man!

God created the Spirit man, and then created man and woman in the flesh. A woman can be called to be an apostle, a reverend, a prophet or even the pope because God is a Spirit and those that worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth.

This is so good.

I hope though it's not wasted on those who were spiritually blind so would yet rubbish its true value and then turn on you.

Imagine how bitterness against the opposite sex has so battered and almost ruined that one's mind to point of assuming all manner of absurd and unfounded things about women, yet thinking it's someone follows the example and teachings of Christ that is his problem.

You can check out some of the bitter antiwomen topics of that moniker.

Not in sexist cults like Christianity or even Judaism and Islam where women are traditionally regarded as lesser beings. There is enough history of each religion to back this up too. 🤔

Ignoring your Off Point tirade. The word is "can be called". Meaning you admit and confess that God had never called a woman before.

And by the time His Word was completed andI Finished, did He still call any? No.

Rather He closed it all, Saying "it is Finished"!.

Clearly, He was not calling anyone again and would not be.

Thus, no woman has been called by God and no woman would be called so it is only you hunans doing the calling thinking that it makes you look fair and even better than God. Clearly, you love to be cast into hellfire, like Uzzah.

I personally believe that the office of the apostles have ceased. Apostles were only for the Bible days; not for today. What was the criteria for picking an Apostle according to the Bible?
1. He must have been around when Jesus was there and was a physical witness to the happenings.
2. He must have the signs of the apostle to confirm his apostleship in signs and wonders and diverse strange miracles.
3. His words form major doctrine like Paul's writings and stuff.

Nobody here was around when Jesus was alive (Paul's case was special as he said he was separated in his mother's womb). The signs of an apostle were unquestionable miracles. A lame man that the whole Jerusalem knew was lame was made to walk by Peter and John, I don't see those kinds of miracles in today's church. Nobody can add to the Bible anymore, and any new doctrine coming today is most likely false.

This is why I believe there can be no apostles today. Only pastors, prophets, teachers and evangelists. The apostles have laid the foundation for us like Paul said when he talked about the household of God in Ephesians, BUILT ON THE FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES...

I would have provided verses to prove my point, but I don't have time to search them out now.

While I agree with you that there is no gender in the spirit, the verse Paul was not referring to spiritual gender when he made his pronouncement about women in ministry; he was talking about physical creation. Here's the full verse in its context

11 Women should learn quietly and submissively. 12 I do not let women teach men or have authority over them.b Let them listen quietly. 13For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. 14And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result. 15But women will be saved through childbearing,c assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.

Reading this without any bias, do you think Paul was referring to spiritual gender here? Does that "there is no male or female count in this case?" Wasn't Paul using the concept of creation to prove his statement by saying the reason for this is because ADAM WAS CREATED FIRST? I mean, he could have said "Yes, Adam was created first but we have been saved by Christ so all these things don't matter" but he didn't.

Your analysis is on point with however, your error being in the fact that an appostle is also the same as a disciple and that is a person who believes in the ideas and principles of a teacher dedicatedly living and promoting such belief.

Therefore, it cannot cease.

However, upon the Words and Acts of God, throughout thefrom bible, we can all see that

1) God Commanded only men to be brought to Him in the Tabernacle of the congregation

2) Only men served in His Tabernacle from which the idea of church is replicated from.

3) Only men did the sacrifices commanded by God.

4) Only men could touch the things of the Temple when they wanted to set it up or take it down during their journeyings.

5) Only men were priests.

6) Scarcely did God speak to wonen and in the rare occasions He Did, He Did not send them to do any function in the Temple.

And on top of several pronouncements about which clearly show how God is angry at women, this is actually a no issue.

It is only because as Christ ForeSaid, Lying prophets and pastors of abominations have come that people have made this an argument.

Exactly!

Which is why I told him Off Point, because it is completely not relevant here.

The only issue for determination is that "seeing how God never called a woman, would God now do so now that He has Finished Speaking?"
