Binis have always acknowledged this. The bone of contention is that Oduduwa was a Bini prince called Ekaladerhan (forgive my spelling).
There is NOTHING like Ekaladerhan OR even Izoduwa in Ufe (Ife history). These are unfortunately fabricated histories by the Oba's of Benin's palace from the time of Oba Erediauwa because of the brewing political struggle or power play in Benin (most especially because of the Ogiemien family claims over a treaty).

The Ogiemien family of Benin who are descendants of the Ogiso era have DEBUNKED that Ekaladerhan fabricated claim. Read more in the article right BELOW.

2] The people of USEN in Ovia South West LGA of Edo State who are direct descendants of Afelogiyan who is Oranmiyan's OLDER brother have DEBUNKED that claim by the palace in Benin. There are other communities near USEN such as Utese in Edo State that came from Ife as well. The family salutation in USEN or Benin for instance of families with Ife ancestry is DELAUHE (How is UFE or Ife) .

The video timestamp from 09:57 to 10:30 BELOW, shows the "Esogban of Benin" explaining clearly where hIs direct male ancestor came along with Oranmiyan (from Ile Ife in Osun State) and the unique family salutations or ways of greeting one another in Benin based on their different family ancestral origins.

Oranmiyan is of direct Yoruba descent and the grandson of Oduduwa who originally came from his homeland of Oke Ora in Osun State just 8 miles away from Ufe (Ife). "Oke" means hill in Yoruba language while "Ora" refers to the Yoruba deity. So, if it is stated that Oduduwa descended from heaven (or sky), it's a religious metaphor or allegory meaning that Oduduwa descended from the "hills" of Oke Ora (in the present Osun State) and came to establish a new dynasty in Ife. Oduduwa Dynasty is the 3rd Dynasty in Ife, according to the current Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, so, the ancestors of modern Yorubas have live for centuries in Ife and elsewhere before Oduduwa was born. Oduduwa is just one of the ancestral branches of the Yorubas and Nigeria's respected historian and former Ambassador to Germany, Professor Jide Osuntokun who wrote an article in the Guardian newspaper in 2004 on the Benin/Ile Ife relationship clearly stated this FACT with archaeological evidence and more. There were other autochthonous communities in Yorubaland before the advent of Oduduwa from his nearby homeland of Oke Ora before coming to Ife just 8 miles away. As part of the Ife coronation rites, every Ooni of Ife goes to Oke Ora before becoming an Oba.

This is a known an incorruptible fact, that the Benins are decedant of Oduduwa. The reason for this recent issues is that the Benins have eloped, harboured and married Osus and b@stards from the other sides. giving birth to children that are corrupting their heritage and history.
Lesson learnt to the Yoruba buts and ponus is that they must not allow Osus from the other side to taint their tribe and culture.
It might be the true that the lineages of Oba of Benin came from Yoruba but the people of Benin kingdom do not, we haven’t got the same frying pan face and ugly looks like them. We look totally different in physical appearance, most of us have light skin as well while the only people among them that are light skin are people from Ondo state. If you trace history those Ondo people might have come from Benin kingdom as well.

True..

Right from Oba Eweka 1..

Benin ancestry is of Yoruba & Yoruba tradition..
NOT the whole of Benin Kingdom is of direct paternal Yoruba descent. The Bini-Edos are a mix of Yoruba with the former Igodomigodo (now Benin) aborigenes. There are many family lineages in Benin Kingdom (including the Oba of Benin's royal family) that are of direct Yoruba paternal lineage from Ufe (Ife) and other family lineages such as the Ogiamien family that have direct paternal Igodomigo (Ogiso) descent but these too have intermarried with women of Ufe (Ife) origins in Benin.

The Ogiemien family granted an interview in the Guardian newspaper a few years ago debunking the Ekaladerhan fictional story and clearly stated that the Oba of Benin's palace roots is from Yorubaland (Ife). The interview is still on the internet. There was war between the Yorubas and Igodomigodo according to Ogiemien family. A truce was later called because Yoruba men had married Igodomigodo women and had children from them, so, they had to reach an agreement due to the family ties and that is how Oranmiyan came to Benin through USEN in Ovia South West LGA in today's Edo State and became the FIRST EVER Oba of Benin. He left Benin later to return to Ife and established the Oyo Kingdom which metamorphosed into the mighty Oyo Empire.

=>https://guardian.ng/features/ogiso-and-ogiamien-are-aborigine-binis-while-oba-of-benin-is-of-yoruba-descent-high-chief-esotericist-monday-wehere/

The royal family is definitely of Yoruba (Ufe or Ife) direct descendant through Oranmiyan (real name is Oluwaiye) who is the younger brother of Afelogiyan who was the FIRST ruler of Ufe Kekere (now USEN in Ovia South West LGA of Edo State) and the Usen people whose Oba is called the Olu Awure of USEN have NEVER denied their links with Ife and Yorubaland. This is the reason why they salute or greet one another by saying "DELAUHE?" or "How is UFE or Ife?" as a family salutation and even the Usen descendants and others of Ife paternal lineage in Benin salute one another by saying "DELAUHE?" They still speak their dialect of Yoruba till today in USEN and also Bini language because USEN is close to Benin and USEN plays a STRONG role in preserving the Yoruba deities in Benin and USEN, such as Ogun, Olokun, Osun, etc, which they brought from Ife centuries ago (over 800 years ago). USEN also historically served as a point of correspondence between Ufe (Ife) and Benin for centuries.

Oba Eweka's mother was an aboriginal Igodomigodo maiden of Egor noble origin but Oba Eweka's father was Oranmiyan, a Yoruba of Ife paternal descent who was the FIRST EVER Oba of Benin (formerly Igodomigodo) and the grandson of Oduduwa NOT the "son" of Oduduwa as stated by Oba Ewuare II in that coronation speech video of October 20, 2016 in Benin.

Watch this over 2 hours video ABOVE from the timestamp 3:19 minutes when the conversion starts. Then the MAJOR interview [affirming the Yoruba paternal lineage and Ile Ife origins of ALL the Obas of Benin and the royal titles and deities] with the gentleman from USEN in Ovia South West LA of Edo State, a town of TRUE descendants from Ife in Yorubaland starts from the timestamp of 27 minutes to 1 hour 27 minutes. USEN currently has an Oba called the Olu Awure of USEN and his direct ancestor, Afelogiyan was the FIRST ever ruler of Usen (formerly Ife Kekere) centuries back over 800 years ago. Afelogiyan is ALSO the OLDER biological brother of Oranmiyan whose real name is Oluwaiye both of who were Oduduwa's grandsons NOT his sons which is another error and fabricated story from this current Oba of Benin and his late father Oba Erediauwa. It was from USEN that Oranmiyan left to become the FIRST EVER Oba of Benin with the advent of the Oranmiyan Dynasty over 800 years ago!

Your bone of contention is wrong..

Their was nothing like Bini before the first Oba of Benin who happens to be Oranmiyan’s son! It used to be called Igodomigodo, a very small remote village. So, how can Oduduwa be from somewhere that wasn’t in existence?
You yoruba people like to twist things. Igodomigodo was never small. And the ruler of Igodomigodo was a ogiso( which means sky king or king of the sky). After elakardekan(not right spelling) left to Ife he called himself a sky king ogiso. that's why yoruba people said he's divine king sent by olodumare (not right spelling).

When his grandson was sent to Igodomigodo land, he changed the name to Edo.

I guess, he also fell from the sky too shey?

The word Yoruba is even a recent word, there were no group known as the Yorubas until recent, all of them existed separately and kept waging tribal war against each other for years.

Egbas vs ijebus, ife vs modakeke, oyo vs ekiti etc.

They were never one people until of recent.

Infact all of them have different account of their origins.

Una go dey alright laslas
