Nigeria made it to the final 5 of these women's categories in CAF's Award.

- National team of the year.
- Goalkeeper of the Year
- Edo Queens Club of the Year
- Young Player of the Year
- Coach of the year.
- Player of the Year

Which of these categories are you confident Nigeria would win?
Player of the year, and National team of the year
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:45am On Dec 06, 2024
Hmmm... Player of the year will be a tough one for us. Chiamaka is the best GK in Africa by miles but seeing her get the WAPOTY over Banda will be tough. I hope it happens though.

Goalkeeper of the year and if they want to stay away from wahala they will also give Chiamaka the player of the year. Banda deserves it but a lot comes with that

Player of the year definitely going to any of Banda or Chawinga. Don't see Chaimaka taking that one.

Except of course the others split enough of the votes to give Chaimaka a chance. That happened at the Ballon d'Or with Vinicius, Bellingham and Rodri.

Can we have this thread pinned like the Super Eagles thread?

I'm tired of having to scroll down to find it every time

If you follow the thread it will always be up except you follow alot of thread and those other threads are more active.

The SE threads aren't pinned it is just that it has more activities especially on weekends where there are many SE players to report on that you find it close to the top.

Just use the followed topics option. That way, every comment brings it up in the FT tab. No need to go to Sports section(unless you on that already)

If so, the SE thread is always active and will be at the top compared to this one

They add flair to the team.

Especially when they're extra dedicated.

Look at the Onyibo wall (Leon and Troost) .

Plumptre is not doing bad at all.

You see Alozie, it opposition player beat her, she will still gather all her strength and run to pursue the player. Most home born will do like they're pregnant when backtracking after being dribbled.

See Onumonu, she always give her best come rain come shine

Which Onumonu?

She has had only a few good games for the Falcons. For the numerous times Waldrum played her at the detriment of others, she ought to have done more!

Troost matured into a superb player without Leon as his partner. When the Oyinbo wall existed, it didn't mean they were the best really, It was just a unique nomenclature for our half-caste guys and not because as a duo they were impenetrable!

Talk is cheap until you enter the pitch and play yourself.

Bayern Leverkusen's Victor Boniface, you think he don't want to bang goals for Nigeria or what?

Victor Boniface and Ifeoma both have similar situation with national team. It doesn't mean they don't want to score. And so far they're team players, the coaches will continue to invite them

Talk is not cheap...na your comment no get value! There is a reason why she is a professional, gets the flaws and plaudits where applicable, just like we do get ours in our different disciplines and workplaces!

Victor Boniface had been firing on all cylinders for his club. Onumonu just most recently hit top form! Big Difference!

Onumonu got playing time based on Waldrum's Americanized selection pattern ahead of others that should be making the team, yet hardly did she make it count, not because she was played out of position or was out of luck, she just simply didn't cut it. Now, she has started to look that part, so you can rest on comparing her with Boniface!

CAF tweeted above 4 hours ago. 6 teams of 4 are listed here. Image is attached

Then I Found the official info here: https://www.cafonline.com/womens-football/news/caf-to-conduct-fifa-u-17-women-s-world-cup-qualifiers-draw-on-thursday/

28 teams entered for this qualifiers (though link lists 29). 6 teams of 4 are listed in teh tweet. The 5 nations not listed are Burundi, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and Morocco.

Also, CAF said this is Qualifiers for the 2025 U17 Womens World Cup, so I guess the 2024 Women's WAFU B U17 Tournament which starts tomorrow in Ghana (featuring Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Cote D'Ivoire) is just a friendly tournament?

So much confusion huh huh huh

You know Onumonu scored the goal that qualified us for the World Cup at WAFCON 2022. But yes, she got a lot of playing times at WAFCON and could have done much better. I don't think she scored a goal again for Nigeria after WAFCON until the France friendly, she also didn't start too many games after WAFCON too. Almost missed Olympics until the injury to Ayinde.

O'boy this na correct colonial mentality comment. There is no evidence that foreign born players have done more for the Falcons or Eagles.

I think is an easy route for the falcons with the draw like this…

Is this Geographical consideration helping the growth of the WAFCON tournaments at all, because with it two Strong nations of the same zone will definitely eliminate each other..

Is time CAF follow the Group Stage pattern, let’s play home and away with more games and top2 can qualify for the WAFCON from each group..

The best players in falcons has always been the home groomed players .... Even till now Ajibade,Nnadozie ,ohale , abiodun , ucheibe ,ayinde , Oshoala are the best players in falcons ... Alozie can't even lace 2014 Njoku or 2019 chidimma okeke , how many times has alozie cost falcons? Onumonu is average at best

I’m only here for the Onumonu talk…

She’s far better than what she has done for the SuperFalcons, when I started following her game up
She was among the hottest Striker in the NWSL then with her overall play but her form dropped which also affected her Club performance. Is good she moved to Europe to revive herself. And hopefully she will give us that Onumonu of before 2022-2023!

Ademola Lookman that is doing well for country and club now, is he home born?

We'll just miss out on great talents cos of petty mentality. If Bukayo Saka is Nigeria player, una go talk same thing that home grown is better than him ... We'll just miss out great talents cos of petty mentality.

Nigeria belong to all of us, whether home born or abroad born. And it's the coach's job to invite the best players.

Super Falcons will face either Benin Rep or Sierra Leone in WAFCONQ 2026 qualifiers which also serves as Brazil 2027 world cup qualification. Only 4 semi finalist at WAFCON 2026 will qualify for world cup

Lookman is doing well and so are many home groomed players, nowhere did i say in my write up foreign borns shouldn't be invited but people on this thread love accusing youth coaches of corruption because no foreign borns is making their list
