Solomon Dalung, a former Minister of Youth and Sports, has explained the influence of cabals in Nigerian governance.

He spoke on the Mic On Podcast published on Sunday.

Dalung, who served as minister in the first term of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, alleged how a powerful group hijacked power after the former president’s victory in 2015.

Asked to describe what a cabal means, he said it is “a group of ambitious people who were also appointed by the same president to help him govern but they will run his presidency at their own expense and interest.”

He revealed that shortly after Buhari’s election, a powerful group emerged from “nowhere,” sidelining those who had campaigned for the president.

“When the president was declared winner, I was with him in his office. I went to see him in the evening. That very day, I was blocked from going into his house, and this was the same place as the last night of the previous day, I was there till 2 a.m.

“I was blocked until I had to make calls before I was allowed to go in till I was able to make calls to assess Buhari before I was allowed. So, from that day, the cabal had taken over,” Dalung said.

He continued: “The people who truly worked for Buhari went celebrating and left the president vulnerable. These people, who understood power, took over and ran the government to their interest until eight years were gone.”

Daily Trust reports that after Buhari assumed power in 2015, there were several reports and references to a certain “cabal” controlling his government.

My take is, he probably was sidelined and he can't imagined himself not benefiting from the person he supported with his full chest.

Probably, he thought he'd be Buhari's right hand man.,😂😂

During Yaradua, we heard that his wife was controlling him and ensure that noone gets to her husband that easy. Same thing happened during GEJ.

I believe Tinubu learned his lessons and he's using his son.

Abeg, any update on the judiciary decision about Tinubu yet? Because I stake with one Igbo guy who said Tinubu will be sacked.... He staked his car....😂😂😂

I keep saying it that for the fact that a person of Buhari could comfortably rule for a whole years of 8 whether as a main or as a frontal, ....That means, Tinubu should stand his grounds to rule too no matter who's ox is gored!

I'm not a fan to Tinubu but the northerners should be made to know that the country ain't theirs alone to make decisions that stands!!

The Yoruba cabal running Tinubu's illegitimate government is far more vicious and oppressive than Buhari's. Under Buhari, the Cabal accommodated their friends from other regions but with Tinubu's cabal, it's all about Yoruba.

Even Aisha Buhari kept blaming "the cabal" for her husband's leadership failure , as if Buhari had ever succeeded at anything prior. Yet no one ever mentioned who the "Cabal" ever was!

The truth is that, the same thing is going on currently. Some people are pushing their agenda on Tinubu and called it social or economic reform. Believe me, Nigeria will continue to move in circle. Thank God my God is sustaining me. I thought this government will be a better one but alas I was mistaken.
Kindly note that the same will happen to anyone that's voted as president. Some may even be worse like that of Buhari

Dalung may be playing politics and be saying half of the truth, but half of the truth is also truth - even if there is another half that is false.

Dalung himself knew that Buhari was ineffective while he campaigned with him to win in 2015. He was possibly schemed out of the main government and given the Ministry of Play-play[i][/i] to handle; but he didn't do anything magical there.

He actually destabilised the Ministry of Youth and Sports so badly that the "incapacitated" Buhari to chase him out of his second term.

Dalung then went to join SDP - of all parties - to raise a political greenhorn/lightweight in Adewole to be President. What was his political relevance to the SDP?

A situation, to me, of a thief calling another person thief because he was out-stolen by a better (or worse) criminal.

Why didn't Dalung say this during Buhari's second term when they were campaigning to succeed Buhari with his Adewole? Galadima of NNPP who opened all the shit of Buhari while campaigning to replace APC and Buhari no be human being?

He should go and sit down jare.
