So today,I decided to attend church for the first time after 4 years, to at least lighten up the burden that has been weighing my heart down for sometime now.......Oh yeah,church is the right place, because hearing the man of God's sermon should at least be of help...So I thought....

Funny thing,I didn't even know today was the church's annual thanksgiving ceremony

After the church normal activities,the pastor came out and started with an altar call announcement......He brought out a chair and placed it on his pulpit and placed a price tag on it... That anyone with 100k should come out and sit on it...... Echoing there'd be a special blessing for whosoever that will come out...... First,Two men came out..... Afterwards,the pastor bit it down to 50k,and of which people also came out...Then,to 30k........At this moment,I was already getting furious and I said to myself,this is pure extortion......Chairs began to fly around as the pastor brought the amount down to 5k...... Members were in a hurry to receive this special blessing .... Omoh,I weak.......I jejely walked out,with my 1k in my back pocket, because no man of God born of a woman can scam me....

What have churches turned into? Is the house of God not supposed to be helping the less privileged members and not to be extorting them?...I said to myself immediately that today will certainly be the last time I will ever step my foot into any church because this is too much....

What have our churches really become? A financial institution or a religion institution? I really need a good explanation on this..

I am used to this and I attend both Catholic Church and a Pentecostal church. The thing is no dey do pass yourself, just give what you have. The people giving 100k, that is probably like 0.5% - 1% of their wealth. Forget about the pastor's emotional manipulative talk, speak blessings to what you have to give and if you truly get blessed later, you can give more.

I don't think this is enough to stop going to any church. I will say this is enough to stop going to this kind of church.

When man tries to find a spiritual connection, the attitude of the spiritualists can either make or mar his experiences. Then you have the option to be with those who give you peace and behave 'normally'.

I can tell you this is not peculiar to your religion, it happens almost everywhere. People worship differently and if you suspect abuse, leave that place.

That bro did the right thing by walking out of that congregation.
Why should people be enriching those people parading themselves as men of God?If every one start donating 1% of their wealth to these people,thats steady cash out for them.Its better to give a needy in my neighbourhood my money than further enrich someone masquerading himself as a man of God.

Never give a dime to those lazy able bodied scammers parading as MOG. If you have anything to hive, donate to your local motherless home and people really in need.
God does not need money from anyone and going to church should be the same as attending any social function.

Not all churches does this sha. This is extortion. Incase you come by any power city church of campus feel free to go there and worship. For now that's the only church I can recommend. That's Pastor Abel Damina Church

Had similar experience last 2 weeks when my church was doing anniversary so the pastor brought out a coconut 🥥 and said it's 20k and it's just only 5

Brought out some set of oranges that it's 10k each for special blessings etc .

So people start coming out and doing the needful so I told myself .

Thankfully they don't do that where I attend, and any day a guest preacher comes and starts all those their funny fundraising, I lock up , bone face and hold on tight to my purse.

My fellow black people, we need to wake up and observe our environments.

Never give a dime to any church or pastor and do not let yourself be deceived by any threats from the Bible. It's is a book written by men like you and I.
By all means, go to churches only for the purpose of socialization and nothing more. There no miracle or solution to any problem that can be found in any church on earth. There is little difference between most pastors and yahoo boys.
Me, It is a waste of time and I hate being in the midst of gullible church goers.

I haven’t been to church in ages—probably fewer than five times since 2015, so nearly a decade now. But I’m planning to start going again next year. I may never believe their stories, and I’m certainly immune to their antics and shenanigans, but my perspective on religion and its role in a person’s life has evolved over the years.

Even if its spiritual value doesn’t resonate with me, I think exploring its cultural value with my current mindset could yield something worthwhile. I’m now more open to making space for it in my life, not becoming a tool for pastors or the church, but for my own benefit.

I’ve done extensive research on a particular church, sampled their sermons online, and even attended a service about a year ago.

I hope it works out, but if it doesn’t—ajuwaya, no harm done.
