I just saw the trailer and simply shook my head...!

Who actually writes these stories and scripts?!!

Let's even start from there. undecided
With the success of wedding party, titles like these are written ao they can cash out.
There must be an obsession by Jade Osiberu about lagos.
First, Gangs of Lagos, next Christmas in Lagos.🤣

Thing is so annoying!

It's like they believe most Nigerians have such limited mental capacities for good movies.

I thought it was a nice movie.

I loved some scenes though: when Gbemi properly addresses Zach & puts him in his place; she is not his plaything. As smooth as he was, he was just fluff underneath the mask. I loved that the movie addressed that. It is easy to get carried away with the grand gestures in a world that encourages women to 'judge men by that'. Zach is 'unbankable'.

I also loved the younger version of that road: Fiyin and Elo.... you can't have your best friend pinning for you for years and suddenly think 'he is the one' after been dumped by your ex. I like that Elo refused to settle fir left over of 'wild oat sowing' and picked a girl who chose him even though he still has feelings for Fiyin; else the kiss won't fly. I think it was also wise he kept it secret till it matured.

The young delivery guys didn't feel genuine enough to me. Perhaps, I needed to pay more detail to their character buildup. I know the guy on low cut is more confident that the guy on dreads however he seems cocky and taking the maid for a ride. While the one tangling with IJGB seems over his head that he overshot his target. Even the cousin seems to see him like an escape from her reality; something to play with and come back home.

I like Wale Ojo's speech when he asked for a separation while she clears her head. I think asking her to take RMD's gifts was a test she failed and amended her ways.

Her character wanted stability underneath liking Zach's lyrics. I initially read her character as wanting the 'freedom' of singlehood' while having the attention of multiple men. But again, Wale wasn't going to play that game. I love love love lovers who have self respect/ dignity and know when to say 'I love you, I love myself and I will not be toyed with so I pull back till you have sense or just moving on'.

This is exactly the rating for me. Don't watch naija movies like that, but when I watched the first few scenes and I dey barely follow their pidgin, I know say the rating go low well well. And all these oyinbo setups for naija Christmas, mba, no be so o.

Rating: 5.7/10

Have you seen Christmas in Lagos? What did you like about it and what did you not like?
While your observations are valid, I must confess that your rating is a bit brutal and here's why. IMO, i think the movie is targeted more at the 'abroad people'.

It seems to me the producers wanted a narrative that appeals to the international audience more. You know Naija is famous on the glam side and the producers probably wanted to use that.

IMDb is often miserly with scores, but then it still managed to reach 6.3 (as at time of writing this)

The movie is star studded & reeks of glam, obviously there was no budget constraints. There are too many stories going on which is not necessarily a bad thing but can become overwhelming.

The soundtrack choices are good I particularly like the Esua's rendition of D'banj's Fall In Love & Taves' Folake (had me quickly searching for my Shazam app)

I think a rating in the 7/7.5 region is suitable. By the way, you could start a monetized review website and earn from it since you obviously enjoy doing it. If you'd like to explore the option, i can build it. Kindly message me.

Just watched this. Same old, same old. Once they throw in popular faces and show lots of glam cars, clothes and houses, they feel they've made a great movie.

Nollywood, please impress me. 4/10

Yes, I could have even written more than this, in explaining why I wnded up with 5.7/10.

Everything was pretty, but the storyline had too many loopholes
I did check it out. Was so unimpressed, especially that okada love with Janded Babe. Kilode.

Plus in which Nigerian world will the babe responsible for a crack in a serious relationship be made to be event planner for your wedding? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Nigerianness of Wole Ojo for Naija format of relationships>>>>>> than all that stuff RMD was doing. His was more realistic.

That french nonsense at the wedding too. 😤😤

The best thing about this movie was location, aesthetics and costumes.

Acting was average
Storyline was underwhelming
I agree with your 5.7 but I'll remove that 0.7

5/10.

The DOP needs to work with a better screenplay or scriptwriter and Director. They got talent.
