Congratulations on the offer. Although, it isn't a good one for all the reasons you've mentioned. Even if they agree to pay 200-220, will it cover transportation, feeding and the other bills? Still not sustainable, me thinks. Can you renew your contract at your current job while you continue seeking for better opportunities? 100k take-home can't take you home even if you're working from home. All said, don't panic, we'll prosper in 2025. I have a strong feeling about this. You and I will prosper, we'll hammer and hit big money. Keep exploring new opportunities, double the hustle and stay focused. Bless up, my bro! |

Here is an AI response for you It’s commendable that you’re thinking critically about this situation. Here’s an analysis and advice to guide your decision: --- 1. Evaluate the Offer Logically From your explanation, the new job doesn’t seem financially sustainable. Transport and Feeding: ₦1,700 daily for transport and ₦1,000 for feeding equals about ₦2,700/day. With a 22-working-day month, that’s ₦59,400 for transport and ₦22,000 for feeding—₦81,400 total. Savings: ₦110,000 - ₦81,400 leaves just about ₦28,600, which doesn’t cover rent, utilities, or ICAN costs. If the numbers don’t add up, accepting the job will likely strain you further. --- 2. Compare Current and New Jobs Current Job: Hybrid work arrangement, similar pay but lower expenses due to fewer commuting days. New Job: Office-based, higher daily costs, less flexibility, and the pay doesn’t align with your interview discussion. Your current job seems more favorable, even if it’s temporary, as it allows you to save and manage other responsibilities. --- 3. ICAN and Long-Term Goals Your goal to transition into auditing and complete ICAN is valid. A low-paying, full-time role may hinder this. Instead, you might consider: Internships/Trainee Roles in Auditing Firms: While they may not pay much initially, they align with your goals and can boost your career in auditing. Part-Time Roles: Look for roles with flexible hours to allow you to focus on ICAN and applications. Certifications: Completing ICAN will make you more competitive for auditing roles. Prioritize roles that give you the flexibility to study. --- 4. Polite Rejection Letter If you decide to reject the offer, do so professionally. Example: > Dear [Hiring Manager's Name], Thank you for offering me the position at [Company Name]. I appreciate the time and effort invested in considering my application. After careful consideration, I have decided to decline the offer as the financial terms do not align with my current needs and responsibilities. I am grateful for the opportunity to interview with your organization and hope we can connect again in the future under different circumstances. Wishing you and your team continued success. Best regards, [Your Name] --- 5. Suggestions for Moving Forward Network: Reach out to professionals in auditing on LinkedIn or ICAN forums. Express your interest in auditing trainee roles. Apply Strategically: Focus on entry-level roles in auditing or finance that align with your career goals, even if they’re internships. Freelance/Part-Time Work: To support yourself, consider freelancing or part-time jobs in finance while you pursue ICAN and audit opportunities. --- Final Thoughts Rejecting the offer seems like the right decision as it’s unsustainable financially and doesn’t align with your career goals. Continue applying for roles that offer a pathway into auditing while completing your ICAN program. Patience and perseverance will pay off.

|

Thanks for the explanation. I was actually angry that you didn't explain where Bonny is to them before telling them about the job. This job you are offering is not a guaranteed job but job that's a skillful job. You must have undergone some training and also better if you have certificate in HSE 1 and 2...... That's health, safety and environment certificate. Also, better if you know someone in Bonny or PH to accommodate you while hustling to get the job. Importantly, it's a paddy paddy kind of job which makes everything almost frustrating. You need to bribe your way to get the job. So sad. Psalmspsalms: |

Hello Rubyjade, Congratulations on being offered the job. Since your contract with your current employer is ending, accept the new offer, if the old one cannot be renewed. However, I will advise that you look for ways to cut down on transportation cost. For instance, do you have any friend living close to the new job location that you can put up with during the week, or that you can share a space with, even if you have to pay? Or have you seen anyone who works in the company that is mobile and lives very close to your place that you can discuss transportation arrangements with, even if it's at 50-60% of the normal transportation cost? Make sure you put measures in place to get the job. It's not wise to reject an employment offer when you do not have another; and it's always easier to move to another employment from one. All the best. |

A bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush. Start the work, prove yourself in month 1 .then go to the Oga or owner and explain the breakdown of your expenses. They won't want you to go and will offer more..Don't ever discuss that at the beginning.

|

Bros, I won't lie to you. Don't take that offer. You know why? The new place lied to you. In the bible, it says: "A house built on a faulty foundation can never stand and if a foundation is faulty, what will the righteous do?" You must create a value system for yourself. Not all jobs are good, I am also facing the same dilemma, I just finished my eligibility programme for TRCN, hence I will be writing my TRCN exams in March. Someone wants to offer me 60-80k to teach her students, I totally rejected it. I told her I will teach SS1 class for free. I won't spend 165k to get a professional qualification and you be offering 80k as salary. I won't accept it. I will use her school has a hub for experience. I will continue improving myself and look for other opportunities. There are many ways to enter the market |

Mathewrichard99:As God would have it, I came here for my NYSC since 2021, finished mid 2022. Started teaching and hoping to get a job soon. Got scammed of 350k I saved from teaching. It wasn't easy as bonny is really so so so expensive. A single room with just a toilet for the whole compound goes for as high as 160k and selfcon as high at 400 to 450k. As God would always have it, I just got a contract job of 300k monthly with money for weekly feeding, money for monthly medical, coastal bus for transportation and end ofñthe year bonus of 900k. Isn't God wonderful? |

Since your current job will expires this month, accept the new offer while looking for another job. This will make the people you are leaving to see you as hot cake, then if they ask you to stay, demand for 200k, you may end up getting something around 150k. If they don't ask you to stay back, then you didn't loose anything, at list you will have a job while looking for another |
