Please this just happened to me, someone sent me some money and called me that it was a mistake.. what’s your advice?

Mine was through paypal.

Someone sent me £50 by mistake. I sent it back when asked. Heard it could be a scam though, so beware.

How did the person get your phone number?

Anyway, I don't see any risk in returning the money back to SAME account number.

Don't panic, as long as the account you are to send the money to is the same account that sent the money to you. But if the person wants you to send the money to a different account, involve the police.

If it was a POS transaction and the account identity is unclear, involve the police before returning the money to any account provided by the person.

I will return the money. 8t has happened to my and I returned the 4,000 naira the pos man mistakenly sent. Shikena

Is he or she a know person to you cos I don't get how a random.person that mistakenly typed your account number also have ur phone number??

Don't send any money back especially if it's much ...it might be stolen from another person's account or card they quickly stole and there's no way for you to verify the source account number ...

Bankers tried to use my account a while back to steal money, which I believe is from a dormant account... they called me that it was a mistake that I should please send it to them and send an account number with obviously a different account name

èmí street.... I told the wèrèy to tell the teller that posted to do reversal from his system.
The werey started giving excuses that it was end of day and system had been shut from head office...

I was like..." Baba if u take too long, I go use this money buy dollar sharp sharp".....

Go to the bank and report, the bank will take it up from there

The only condition that can make me refund is if I will refund to the same account that credit me

Anything else na station or court I go enter straight cos police no go wan hear story later

If the person wants you to send to a different account, go to your bank and report it

But if it’s same account, there may be no harm…

Or just go your bank to report it. People have entered some issues because they have sent fraud money or ransom money to their accounts.
You don’t want your account restricted that you should be apprehended on sight

If it's moniepoint u are using....select d ignore button n d money returns to d right owner....those asking how they got ur number n all that....haven't u used opay account before?.....u want to type 2 n end up hitting d 1 button....it's normal...

Insist you will go to your bank and request your account officer reverse it back to where it came from, same account it came from, no other place

I refund to the same account it was sent from.

If the person refuses to send the same account details, I'd rather it is settled in the police station... because I cannot facilitate the Fake Transfer Scam for anyone.

U have got to return it, it’s not yours.
Inform ur Your bank so that they can help do a reversal.

For safety
Just insist on sending it back to the same account that credit you. If he refused, report it.

Someone had mistakenly credited me last Dec.. He missed a number and the money was sent to me..

He called me for a refunded.. But I had to first shout at him not to make that mistake again.. I refunded the money back to him..

When he called to thank me, I shunned him down and switched off the call...

I was just in my one of moods swing that day 😅

For this hardship, I make bold to say here that many people will not send anything back, they will eat the money and use some to pay tithe for protection.

My experience. This is why few people here should t drag us into tribalism. Sometime last year I bought few baffs (clothes) worth 190k. When I wanted to make the transfer the seller called an opay number that supposed to end with 08…he mentioned 80. I made the transfer only to wait for over 30 minutes for him to confirm alert. I rechecked again and found out that he made the mistake. So I added 0 to the opay account and someone in Ibadan picked the call. I pleaded with him that it was a mistake but he said I’m a 419. The next day I sent him a message and pleaded with him again,,he told me that he will need to go to town and check. So I believed him. Behold the guy called me back that he saw the money and he doesn’t have a smart phone and that he needed a friend’s smart phone to do that. I said ok.

Few hirs later he called me again and said I should send him my account details and I deed.

He sent me the money. I had to call him to ask how much it’ll take him to fix his phone and he said 15k. I sent him 50k to add up and buy a new one. Omo the guy just Dey shout for background. Guess what? I went to Ibadan for a golf tournament and invited him. He came and we had drinks and food. Today we are friends. The guy na Yoruba boy oooo.

tell us how u/the person take know ur name/number

This is simple. Go to your bank and form them.

You will fill a form for unauthorised credit and apply for the bank to return the money.

Ensure you snap the form and ensure a debit alert is sent via email and sms.
