The current commissioner was a safe pick when the old one (RIP) retired. The NBA finally had the same rep with corporate america like NFL and MLB, leaving NHL behind grin. They had weeded out the Allen Iversons, Jailblazers etc. Adam Silver was the right man to keep that ship in the right direction, dont rock the boat and lose billions in sponsorships.

Unfortunately, his strength is also his weakness. He is not the big bold ideas kind of guy like David Stern was. A liitle adjustment here, a tiny rule change there, thats what he is comfortable with. Even when he goes big, its corporate big, playing games in London and the likes. I am yet to see him do something that the basic, regular NBA fan is really enthusisatic about.
I love this take!

You're like the 4th guy pointing it that he doesn't watch the games. He can't comprehend stats; neither can he translate them effectively. Don't waste your time abeg.
Ehyah. Look at what an old man like you has reduced himself to. Are you not ashamed of yourself undecided
Re: The NBA Begins by SmooshCHN: 10:52pm On Jan 08, 2025
When Steph is ready, he will put his foot down to stop all these nonsense. Until then, it's going to be wasted efforts every night. When we were talking they said we were not real fans. I'm not surprised one bit; just disappointed. We have a long long way to go; from coaching, bench down to reserve.

This game has definitely lived up to the expectations. Both teams are going at it and playing some good basketball on both ends.

Absolutely! The twin towers of Mobley and J. Allen punished you guys under the rim. Chet would have forced one or both to defend him under the paint and from beyond the arc. He could have put them in foul trouble also. While Hartenstein is good under the rim defensively, he is limited offensively.

While the Cavs won tonight, the performance of their guards is one reason I am comfortable with going against them in the playoffs. This is because Spyder remains the only guard who can actually win them games. Garland is a mental midget and I don’t see him leading them to a series win when Spyder is having an off night. On a night like today when Mitchel struggled, Garland couldn’t even finish top 2 scorer.

Bro, there have been literally more large-scale changes in Silver's era than Stern's.

Ol boy be like I dey wrong on these Warriors oh. This is ridiculous.

No team has ever missed the playoffs after starting 12-3.

This team is going on a historic run of mid just to prove me wrong

And also who saw my boy Jamal? Looks like he back. Keep it up and don't make me look bad on this thread

On the Warriors, this is where I tell you “I told you so”. I was about putting an APB out on you last night but I say I go do am today after I settle but you called yourself out.

Jamal was on fire last night. He did not settle and attacked the rim all night which was great to see. I don’t know if it long term but it was a good reminder of how good he can be.

I've been hoodwinked, bamboozled, run amok, led astray and flat out deceived.

Steph has dropped badly, nobody talking about that though. Draymond is washed and Wiggins. Smh

Kuminga was the only one showing signs of life but he's now been out

Speaking about APB. This your Jordan Love you sure say no be scam grin cos all I'm seeing is big arm and vibes. The injuries hardly helped, however he doesn't seem like a cerebral QB to me

I've noticed it's a common flaw in this era of QBs. It's always boom or bust. Guys are not simply taking what the defense is giving them. It's important y'all get a tight end someone that can help you move the sticks 5 yards at a time not the home run plays Jordan Love is always hunting

No allow me remember how upset I was after his 3rd pick. Dude thinks he is Favre with his arm and makes some of the silliest decisions with the ball. While risk taking is good, this man just takes risks all the time. He has the arm and some but his decision making is horrible.

LeFleur is trying to give him some freedom but I don’t think he should just yet until starts reading defenses better. We don’t have great receivers but this man kept testing Slay with 50/50 balls.

The Eagles did not particularly ply well and we had good opportunities to win that game.

In-season tournament, Play-in tournament, coaches challenge, new CBA, 67 games minimum to qualify for awards, on-court rule changes like take foul, etc

All these changes mentioned have improved the NBA in one way or the other. The NBA' s revenue has tripled during Silver's 10 year tenure, and teams values have increased 8 folds

His processor is poor. I think your board need to get him some weapons though. However this is his 5th season. He should not be making these school boy mistakes in the playoffs where each possession is gold. Sometimes you take what the defense can give you and get your 3-5 yard completions to move the ball. He made the same mistake last season against the Niners and snatched defeat from the Jaws of victory

They wasted a very valiant effort by the defense. I know if I was a defender I'd be pissed. You're paid the most money while I'm doing the most work

The embolden was all he needed to do in that game and it is the only reason I blame LeFluer for giving him that freedom to literally throw the game away. I hope our defense returns next year because they were immense this season. Knowing the history of my team, we rarely spend on great WR. Remember the GOAT had to work with Adams and developed him into a great receiver. It is the same with Watson, our number 1. He was drafted in R2 but had to be developed into what he is now. I think we will go into the draft looking for another receiver we can develop.

Man I was upset after that game I swear! I knew our defense and Josh Jacobs would give us a chance but of course Love burned us.

Which kin GOAT. You don piss me off with that blasphemy. Where are your standards? Tomlin won us just one Superbowl and you don't see me calling him GOAT.

You're not ashamed small boy Mahomes under his nose has come and surpassed him. Rodgers is not even in the discussion for anything no more. Just fading in ignominy as deserved grin grin

As for Jordan Love well you have no choice. If you want to give him a fighting chance to justify his contract you're going to need to get him a big play target. Either that or get him a tight end that is quality. A guy like Brock Bowers on your team would have been phenomenal. Love needs to be reined in and taught how to make the short and intermediate throws. Anthony Richardson also has same problem

Reread what I wrote baba. Almost everything you just listed is exactly what I was talking about. In the middle of triple or quadruple revenue, the core fan base is not able to watch as many games, and they are complaining about 3pt spamming, etc.

As I said earlier, the commissioner is marketing the NBA as a safe product for corporations with deep money. But the grassroots appeal has taken a hit. Oga commissioner even tried to take off the iconic NBA on TNT, in other words, dollars over culture. These things you listed, 90% of them are not bold moves, just revenue making opportunities. Who cares about in season tournament? If they stopped doing play-ins today, nobody will cry.

They cant even market the new superstars properly, because they have to consider if it is safe for corporate eyes. You chase money long enough, you get a watered down product, and then the money eventually dries up.
