Reason for refusal?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Demmybim:
Hello All,
Please see attached my refusal letter.
I enquired fro. The bank amd honestly they claim it's the different applications used in processing payment schedule.
And also for the budget for the trip.. I mean I had 10m treasury bill, 7m in my salary account, 5m in my personal savings and 6m in a joint account with my mom.
I may be wrong ; but I thought with all of these, spending 2500 pounds isn't too much.
Please I need the input of all the gurus in the house. Is it something I can appeal or reapply? If I have to reapply, how do I tackle these points being raised?
It was a very painful thing for me cos I dint get a refusal mail nor hard copy, just my passport was returned so I was excited I got the visa.
I had to send a paid mail before they sent this refusal letter.

I notice most people applying for dependent visa from Nigeria submit Police Certificate as part of the process. It wasn't mentioned in my checklist.
Should I get the Certificate? Although I'm not in Nigeria at the moment and haven't lived in Nigeria in over two years. However, I plan to have my biometrics in Nigeria as I'm currently in the UK on a visitor's visa.

You are mandatorily required to provide a PCC for any country you've lived in for a total of 12 months or more over the last 10 years.

Sorry about your refusal.

The VO mentioned the irregularities as it relates to the description of your salary payment. Other than that, there's nothing really.

Do you have any travel history? Is this your first time applying?

Good morning. I’m applying for dependent visa for my husband and son and I have the required funds in my uk account. However, I got about 900 pounds gift from family members to support us. Would this raise an issue in the statement of account or it won’t be scrutinized? Thanks

Today is day 14 if your biometrics was Dec 20th
Home office has not exceeded their timeline.
They would not cancel their holidays on Dec 25th, 26th and January 1st because of visitor visas.

Apologies for receiving this refusal. First of all, 2,500 GBP is certainly too much for just 7-10 days. There are people who've even budgeted just 1,500 GBP for a month and have been granted visas. I believe if you're earning at least 850k Naira per month in Nigeria, a reasonable budget (excluding accommodation and including flight costs) for about 7-10 days in London should be limited to an amount between 1,000 and 1,300 GBP. Finally, how are your monthly expenses only 150,000 Naira when your monthly income is at least 1 million Naira? Do you have parents/family members subsidizing most of your living costs? Please explain how you derived your monthly expenses. Thanks.

The person that budgeted 1500 for a month is not a first timer- they were renewing their visas.
They also have accommodation and feeding covered by their hosts so this money is for flights +/- miscellaneous basically and the ECO knows this and saw sponsor’s account statement as well.
Very way different landmarks would be used to judge.
This applicant is a first timer, it is the hardest one to crack as anything can be used against you. Your analogy is incorrect if you can not justify to the ECO how you came about your £1000 budget for a 7 day trip.
This amount can not even cover the costs of flight tickets from Africa without consuming the whole money. The holiday is not a do or die affair and the visa officer knows this and you as well need to know this.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237:
Your story contains several inconsistencies:
-You have no documented travel history.
-You reported a salary of 400k three to five months ago, but it suddenly increased to 1.1m almost near the application date.
-A joint account with your mother does not demonstrate full access to those funds; it’s still a shared account.
-The 10m in treasury bills does not count as liquid money. While it shows investments, it isn’t readily accessible cash. This is my opinion.
-You claim to have 5m in your savings but intend to spend 2,500 pounds on a short trip. This raises concerns about your financial planning—do you not want to return to any savings?
-The 7m you mentioned was in your salary account, but ECO found discrepancies in the amounts and narratives of your salary credits. They believe this indicates irregularities, as salary entries typically have consistent narratives.
You said you enquired from the bank about your salary credits… is the narration not shown on your bank statement? Is it not your employer paying you? Is that every month your employer tells them something as a narrative?
Why should an employee be enquiring from a bank of this? is all as it seems?
This story is not consistent as I have worked in several establishments from minute to multinational and this is hardly the case for every single month.
It seems you have previously been denied a UK visa, which adds another layer of complexity.
If I've misunderstood any part of your information, please let me know.

Any one with information where I can get police Clearance certificate in lagos
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by borryworld:
@ giselle237

Please, I need clarification on the following:

1. I have been invited to the UK by a cousin (citizen). What are the documents he needs to provide (he is providing accommodation and feeding)

2. I will be traveling with my wife. How much is ideal as budget?

3. The invitation letter, who will address it to? The embassy or me.

Apply online, it's very fast. Go to your designation of choice for fingerprinting, and get your certificate before the end of that day.

I get your point, but don't forget that one can certainly get a round-trip flight from Lagos to London today for less than £1000, since the cheapest airfare on airlines like Kenya Airways and RwandAir cost about £600 to £700, then if accommodation is already covered by a host, I'd say about £500 should be enough for living expenses for a 7 day trip (assuming one isn't spending extravagantly), so that's a budget of about £1,100 to £1,200 for a week which is quite reasonable.

Thanks for your input..
The first four months came in as net pay while the last two months came In as salary by (my employers name). I submitted my promotion letter which shows the salary incremental well. It's my first time applying for a UK visa. I asked my employer just like you noted but ofcourse they don't know cos it me who takes the payment schedule to the bank and they don't add special narration either than letting the bamk know it's the salary for a particular month. I've only traveled to Ghana which I stated.
Okay.. I've taken note of the other funds your mentioned.
I'd rather not fix my money in treasury.
Didn't know it had to be liquid funds.
But pls can I move money from my ithe bank accounts? And If I do, do I need to add the bank statements to my salary account?
I'm asking cos I only want to submit my salary account statement now.
Thank you so much
I appreciate uour time

Hello Giselle,
What about my cousin who didn’t have a single travel history nor had parents or siblings… not even an asset.
They gave him the visa… isn’t it funny, I just think it depends solely on the officer reviewing your application, some are more experienced or detailed that some..
Imagine an officer pointing out bank salary narration…
I feel I had more ties than my cousin but he got his, so I just think it mainly seats with the officer…
They gave someone visa with 4M naira in his account.
I can only say it’s God because the red flags were so much that even him couldn’t believe.

All cases are different… same way there are different ECOs and trust me you only know what you are told.
Also depends on how well you are able to convince the ECO because remember everything is on a balance of probabilities of one returning.
ECO has to guess which of you will come back…

Why is an employee taking payment schedule to the bank? An organisation paying 1.1m can not do its employee payments or deal with the bank? Sorry I am just confused and trying to mitigate this whole scenario because the visa officer was also confused.

Then Ghana is not travel history guys. Please . For the 100th time it is not travel history for the UK.

Did Biometric for visit visa since 10th of December at VSF IKEJA and I got this email recently telling me they are unable to make a decision at this time and they will continue to process my application.

Who else got this same update and what's the current status of your Visa application BIKO or how long will I have to wait to hear from them?

It's getting longer than expected here and I am a bit worried.

Sorry about your refusal.

Two issues were cited

1. The inconsistency in deposits. You need to fix this by ensuring that only salaries get paid into salary account, which you intend to drop.
In my case I calime I get paid certain amount and in the 5 months statement I presented, it clearly stayed that sum exactly without reduction or increment. If you salary is N1.1m, make sure only that N1.1m enters that account for about 5 months and clearly marked as Salary

2. Reduce your budget. Cheapest ticket now is around N1.1m to N1.3m ($700)
You can see $70 a night hotel and spend about $700 in 10 days and another $500 on feeding
$300 on entertainment
Total $2,200 which is less than 2000 pounds

The bank can actually do this, by telling the teller to add that narration. We do that for tax and the reason for payment is always specified
