In as much as you made very valid point, a woman's life should not revolve around her husband's success. A woman's life should not be defined by her husband's success or status alone. I wouldn't want that for my daughter.


A woman's life should not revolve around marriage. This mentality and culture is part of why Nigeria is a poor nation with mostly poor struggling families, we must grow past this. Yes you are right about western laws that protect women in marriage, yes we don't have that and that is another reason every woman must strive to have something else going for her financially aside her husband's wealth, if not for any other reason, for future eventuality.


And when I speak, I speak from experience. I have witnessed this happen to a close relative whose wife became too lazy and even turned troublesome just because her husband became rich. Her now late husband did everything humanly possible to make her have her own strong source of income, but this lady frustrated all efforts and single handedly ran some of the businesses her husband managed to establish for her aground. Her eyes only opened after her husband died and she couldn't sustain the wealth, the children are the ones suffering the outcome of her actions.



But most of such ladies will lie to people like you that it is their husbands that told them not to work or start a business or build their own brand.
